When I first downloaded this game on my iPad, over a year ago, I was excited because it was similar to one I really enjoyed on my Switch, but every time I tried to play it, I couldn’t. The game would prompt me to download content and then there was the spinning circle forever. I tried several times to just leave it alone for hours to keep trying to download, with no success. I recently got frustrated with the games I’d been playing and decided to try this one again. Either our internet is better, or the game has been updated, or both, but it works great now.There is such a wide variety of cases, and within each case, there is a wide variety of challenges. Some of them are easy, some challenging, and some confusing, which is a great mix. You get plenty of hints to help you out when you get stuck, and can watch ads to get additional hints if/when you need them. Energy regenerates slowly, which is my only complaint, though watching ads will give you more energy, and allow you to use less energy for an hour. Currently, I’m using running out of energy as a prompt to get off my tablet, lol, but there are options to use gems, which you can earn at a reasonable rate.I haven’t yet felt a need to purchase gems for extra energy or hints, but I haven’t ruled it out. I do want to support the developers because it’s such a well designed game, so I don’t mind clicking on the ads.

This is probably my favorite app on the whole AppStore right now! I really appreciate the thought, detail, and quality that went into this, including the music. Even the visuals get more detailed as you go along into the more recent stories. I started out playing Enigmatis: Mists of Ravenwood and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I continued onto the next one, Shadow of Karkhala. Apparently though, these are only the second and third stories in the series, the first one is only available on Steam. So obviously it would make more sense to play that beforehand, but for me, I was still able to enjoy it, it’s just that I could tell I was missing some context and background and such. Although, according to some reviews left by fans (without spoiling) the twist in the second book is easily predicted if you’ve played the first game already, so there is that. From my perspective, the twist wasn’t as predictable, but I still sort of expected it so it’s not like playing the first game beforehand would be ruining some masterful and unforeseen outcome. Anyway, since I loved the Enigmatis series so much, I thought I would lend my suggestion to make different stories but with the same main character that we see in it because I did get kind of attached, ahah I just figured it would be cool to see her solve more cases in the future! And see more of Rick and maybe Fang as well.

It’s a great game plenty of mystery’s and challenges that aren’t impossible to figure out but they’re hard enough to take some time with. Along with that, you get free hints after a certain amount of time if you get completely stuck on a part. The part I have an issue with is the energy. Every action you make consumes 5 energy everything from opening doors, picking up items, using said items, etc. everything requires energy so you get around 5-15 minutes of play time before you’re out of energy and have to either watch ads for more, pay for more, or just flat out wait. Overall you get little play time before you have to wait several hours for your energy to be full to actually play a little bit. You could add a small fee to pay to have infinite amount of energy which in my opinion would be worth it since other then the energy is a great game. You could also just add mini games to earn energy or even just reduce the time it takes to get energy and possibly reduce the amount of energy it takes to do every action from five to one or even two that way you still have plenty of time to play but you don’t have an overflowing amount of it to the point that you can just finish the whole mystery in 1 sitting. But as stated before it’s a great game the experience is fun it has an interesting story along with giving you plot details as you go through it, the energy is the only complaint I have for the whole game.

I love this game so much I’m on my third storyline in it. It’s just the right amount of difficult without feeling impossible, and while I don’t necessarily feel attached to the storylines, they are well thought out. My only two complaints are:1-the hints aren’t very useful, unless you’re already looking in the right area. There’s a lot of travel in the game, so you could have half a dozen areas unlocked but if you feel stuck and try to use a hint, if you aren’t already in the right area for the next move then the only hint you’ll get is to “go back”. I wish that the hint would continue on screen until you get to the correct area and it’s actually able to highlight where you should be looking2-you can only play for short bursts of time. Every action uses 5 energy, it takes 5 minutes to regain 1 energy, and the maximum amount you can accumulate without purchasing extra is 300, so a single I-Spy mini game can deplete a good chunk of your entire energy for the day in a matter of seconds—especially the ones where you have to put things together in order to “spy” more of the items. You can purchase energy, but the price point feels steep for how long it lasts. You can purchase $120 gems for $5, and 100 gems will get you 300 energy, but like I said if you’re making good progress in the game you could deplete all of that in under ten minutes. No shame to the developers, maybe I’m just not the correct target audience for this game, just sharing my experience for others!
