Your translations, on every device. Turn on iCloud sync in Settings and your history, your saved pages and your language pairs follow you from one device to the next. It is off until you switch it on, it stays in your own private iCloud, and you can turn it off again at any time. Also here: the paste button behaves itself, the camera's top bar no longer crowds the close button, history thumbnails are back, and the language bar updates the moment you change a language. Portuguese has saudade — the ache for something you love that is not here, and may never be again. Not sadness, not nostalgia: a weather of its own. Most languages need a paragraph for it. A smaller app. This one is mostly housekeeping. Snap is about 13% smaller to download and takes noticeably less room on your phone. Nothing was taken out — there was simply a lot in there that no longer needed to be. Alongside that, the usual round of fixes and refinements under the hood. Icelandic has a word for weather that looks wonderful through a window and turns out to be nothing of the sort once you are outside in it: gluggaveður, "window weather". Most languages need a whole sentence for that. We think it deserves to travel. Point the camera, get the translation. Something not right? Multi is a mode now — and the result screen holds still. Snap, Multi and Live sit together above the shutter. Shooting a set of pages is one tap away instead of hidden behind a small unlabelled button, and each mode says its own name. Fixes in this one, all on the result screen: • The page selector, the close button, the language picker and the page grid stopped responding once you had zoomed into a photo. They work at any zoom now. • Turning the text panel off left you no way to turn it back on. It comes back. • Share said it would send the photo with the translation on it, then sent only the words. Now it sends both. • Tapping either language on the translator opens one screen with both on it, so you can change the pair without closing and reopening. • A photo with no text in it now offers you a fresh photo, instead of asking you to retry the same one. Something we learned while working on this one: in Japan the plastic food in restaurant windows has its own name — サンプル, sampuru, borrowed straight from the English "sample" — and it is shaped by hand by craftspeople who train for years at it. A few workshops will let you try making a tempura prawn yourself. We can translate the menu. Pointing at the window has never stopped working either. Point the camera, get the translation. Translate the whole menu, not one corner of it. Multi-photo: capture up to seven pages in one go and get them back as a single translation you can flip through. Each page starts translating the moment you take it, so by the time you've shot the last one, the first is usually already waiting for you. How it works: 1. Tap the multi-photo button before you shoot. 2. Take up to 7 photos. The rail along the bottom fills in as you go, and a small × drops any shot that didn't come out. 3. Tap Done, then swipe left and right — or tap a page number — to move between pages. Also in this release: menus read the way they're printed. A dish and its price stay together on one line, instead of arriving as a long list of names followed by a long list of prices. And on a bilingual menu, every line is translated from the language it's actually written in — so the Greek half and the English half both come back right. Something we learned while working on this one: in Greece, reading the grounds left in the bottom of a coffee cup has its own name — καφεμαντεία — and in plenty of tavernas someone will still turn your cup over for you once you've finished. Something we learned while working on this one: Papua New Guinea has more than 800 languages. That is roughly one in eight of every language alive on Earth, in a country about the size of Sweden. Fill in a paper form without the guesswork. Photograph an official form and see every question in your language, with a suggested answer to check and copy — border declarations, residence registration, rental contracts. Save your details once and reuse them on every form after. Also new: - Read any document, not just signs. Import a PDF or a photo and get a plain-language explanation of what it actually says, or export a side-by-side translation to keep. - Your language, everywhere it was missing. Some screens still showed English, and a few showed raw placeholder text. All 29 languages have been gone through line by line. - A camera that does what you point it at. Edge-to-edge viewfinder, tap to focus exactly where you mean, and pinch or drag a translated photo without it sliding off the screen. - Steadier live translation. Text on signs and menus holds still as you move instead of flickering. - Your subscription in plain sight. Manage, pause or restore it straight from Settings — and it no longer warns you it is ending when it is not. Something not right?
