Golfboy is a golf shot measurement app designed for iPhone users. Since it works with just an iPhone, anyone can use it easily with a simple tripod setup. Using advanced image analysis technology, the app provides real-time measurements for distance, ball speed, launch angle, and club speed. It also features a course simulation function, allowing users to practice in realistic scenarios.
Additional features include a putting mode and automatic swing video recording, offering comprehensive support for various golf training needs.
Leveraging our expertise in professional sports analysis, we developed Golfboy to make golf practice easier, more enjoyable, and more efficient for everyone. We’ve conducted numerous accuracy comparison tests against existing laser-based distance measuring devices, refining the app’s precision to meet real-world demands. Use Golfboy to take your game to the next level!

■ Supported Devices:
iPhone 8, iPhone SE (2nd generation) or later
Note: Form analysis features are available on iPhone SE2, iPhone 11, and later models.

The maximum measurable distance varies depending on your iPhone’s lens:
- iPhones with ultra-wide lenses (using a tripod at 1.2m height): Up to 280 yards
- iPhones without ultra-wide lenses (using a tripod at 1.2m height): Up to 220 yards
Raising the tripod height can extend the measurement range.
Measurements may be inaccurate in low-light environments or when the ball blends into the background. Please test the app in your environment during the free trial period.

This app and I went through a journey that’s still growing. It works great with the right setup. Here’s what I learned, lighting matters big time, I hung pin spotlights from my garage ceiling which woke very well to light the ball. The app works best with real balls, in the garage I wanted foam balls, it took trial and error but I found that go sports foam flights work very well set at 1.36 custom ball. Biggest deal however is a solid hitting mat. I started in one of those 1’x2’ chipping mats and the contrast between the mat and the garage floor made the ball impossible to track. Added a 3’x5’ mat that takes up entire viewing screen and bam it tracks everything. This app works much better outdoors with natural light, but with the right setup you can make a budget garage sim setup with this as the base. The 3d presentation makes the monthly cost worth it. My only suggestion is for the driving range feature to say go on the external screen the way it does in course mode.
Awesome!

I love this app, so glad I tried this before paying hundreds of dollars for a launch monitor. I did calibrated a little bit so my phone is at 4 feet but I said the registered height to 4’6” and it seems to be much more reasonable. After this adjustment, the measurements seem much more reasonable and more importantly from shot to shot seems very consistent from a relative basis. It is so helpful to take a swing and see in instant replay to provide feedback on whatever it is that I’m working on. I’ve only had it for a couple weeks, but I have to say this is the best money I’ve spent on an app in a very long time.
Good app for backyard practice
Laskaris
This is does some thing really well and is great for backyard practice into a net. I especially recommend using the iPad companion piece for the 2nd screen. I’d really like to see some additional features in the course creation section. It would be great if you could have multiple tee boxes to practice from the whites and later blacks your hole without having to recreate the hole. Also, an edit hole feature would be great or a copy feature so you could tweak without having to start over. Another great option would be to have a feature where you could take a picture of a real golf hole you want to practice on at home and then import into the creation for distances. A picture of a map and then add yardages/tee boxes/green locations would be sufficient to really up the value of this app. Thanks!
Could be better. It’s for a better player who already knows things
He ain't THAT good
Slightly confusing Manual.I don’t get why you can “adjust” the distances gauged after the first shot! That means you have to know how far you hit the ball already for it to calibrate for your session, that you would have to laser the target and hit it to that, adjust the distance it went according to that ball, instead of just telling you how fast you’re swinging and how far that particular ball went! Know what I mean? I want to just set it up, hit a particular club, and show me what I did, but for a real beginner person who knows nothing, this is not the first App they should try. For real first time type beginner player, they need to go get measured real quick on a big machine so they get an idea of each of their club, and then use this App afterwards to continue their improvement. So in that sense I can only give it 3 stars because it’s got good stuff but is not easy to use, even for me I got confused as to why I have to hit a shot and then adjust how far it’s going based on that because all kinds of balls are all different and I have to SEE to know how I should adjust it. Just make it easier on the adjustment. Make it simple where you just increase the ball differences by percentages up or down, depending on the type of ball. And why does it only go 280 yards???If you fixed it so we can hit them over 300 yards and get much more accurate measurements you can beat Foresight with this. Nobody really wants to pay tens of thousands of dollars for that other machine. It’s also not very good outside on real grass, where I mostly practice. It gives different readings on every other shot. Not accurate at all. Too many different readings on real grass.
Developer Response
To measure distances of 300 to 400 yards, please try increasing the height of your tripod. This allows the camera to capture the necessary angle of view for longer shots. The "adjustment" feature is designed to compensate for minor errors in setup and the natural variations between different tracking devices. Every launch monitor—whether professional or amateur—can show slightly different data depending on calibration, setup, and the type of balls used (e.g., range balls vs. premium balls). While accuracy is our priority, we believe consistency is the most important factor, and giving users the flexibility to align the data with their preferred reference point is a key benefit.Golfboy is more than just a distance tracker; it’s a total training tool designed to capture club movement and improve your swing and putting. We are working on major accuracy improvements and new features for release this year. Thank you for your feedback and support!
