Join a safe support community where 2SLGBTQIA+ youth ages 13 to 24 are there for each other without fear of stigma, taboo, or shame. If you're Queer, Trans, Nonbinary, Genderfluid, Ace, Questioning, an Ally, etc — you are welcome and safe to be yourself with Give Us The Floor.
Upon sign-up, you'll find 25+ community-wide discussion channels covering a range of topics, ranging from serious topics such as body image, mental health, discrimination, BIPOC, and anxiety, to lighter content, including pets, memes, and more. You'll also have the opportunity to join a more focused small group consisting of up to 20 young people within two years’ age of each other, led by a trained youth facilitator. Try out new pronouns, get advice on coming out, celebrate your accomplishments and Queer joy, find support with friends and family issues or bullying, and find encouragement in your discussion group. Participants will also be invited also become a certified Youth Facilitator and earn community service hours after being an active participant in the app for a minimum of 2 weeks.
How we prioritize participant safety:
1. Privacy and safety are important and no personal identifying or contact information may be provided at any time within the app.
2. No one-on-one communication is permitted or even possible within app functionality. All communication exists within group discussion spaces.
3. All discussions are moderated by trained Youth Facilitators with the capability to hide and/or delete content that violates Community Guidelines.
4. Harassment or bullying of any kind is not tolerated and will result in removal from the app.
5. Each participant is asked and encouraged to flag any comment or thread that does not respect the rules, or just doesn’t feel right, using our easy, anonymous reporting feature within the app.
6. No adult content may be shared. Content shared in the app must come from an approved source and must be appropriate for users under age 18. We also may utilize third party AI tools for vetting content for safety and compliance with Community Guidelines. At no time will personal information about app participants be shared with third parties without prior authorization.
7. A Community Care and crisis response team with professional, clinical mental health backgrounds is available to support Youth Facilitators with situations requiring crisis escalation or other challenges during peak usage hours, seven days a week.
8. Participants may contact Community Care at any time in the app using the easy contact form or at info@giveusthefloor.org.
Note: Give Us The Floor is a registered non-profit that has been operating since 2015. It has positively impacted thousands of young people. Upon signup, you will be asked to share a phone number and zip code to verify that each member is a real human and for generalized statistics for funding purposes, but we will not share your personal information with third parties at any time.

This app is great for those in need of a support group or who need to share their feelings and experiences with others. I want to remind anyone considering leaving a negative review based on the format/rules of the group that this app is supposed to be modeled after a therapy support group and isn’t a form of social media or texting. As someone whos been in multiple irl support groups, these rules are pretty universal and are in place to ensure the safety of members if someone voices intent to hurt themselves (this may seem annoying to those of you who want the freedom to share your true feelings or intents without consequence, but the the rules are there for a reason. if this is you, please work with the system and share how u feel anyways.(ik its scary, but itll help))

So I downloaded this app to possibly make new friends and join groups. And while i did end up in a group you are only allowed to be in just that one they assigned you. The people in my group were rude and hateful and it was obvious it was just not a good fit. It made me sad because i had waited almost a month for them to assign me to this room when they said it should take no more than 10 days. And when I contacted support about being assigned a new group they basically said i was stuck with the one i had. Then i tried to report someone who was extremely mean to me when i was put in the room and then they continued to insult me and they were racist and homophobic against me even though this app is supposed to be lgbtqia+ friendly. Support did nothing about this and said it was my fault fir angering the other person when i had done nothing but introduced my self and told them my sexuality and pronouns. So basically if your lgbt and are thinking of getting this app dont waste your time its really set up bad and does not have a good system to group people.

We do ask our participants to stay in their groups for at least seven days (unless there is a serious issue) to give the group a chance to bond before we regroup a new member, but we definitely regroup folks upon request! GUTF does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia, or any kind of bullying behavior in our group chats, and we keep records of all communication between our staff and our members. We were unable to locate any records indicating the conversation you reported in your review, but we would certainly love to hear more specifics about what transpired so that we can address it. Honestly I’m not really picky with my apps. This app was just not it. I’m trying to talk to people and make people feel better and you know. Every once in a while you might meet somebody to help you out and cheer you up. This app says it’s for talking to people and groups and doing this and doing that and I also says 12 and up. Now I’m Not 20 or anything like that but they are liers I know so my words might not be spelled correctly for me to be talking all that I am. So start with the first issue. Now these issues are not gonna come in the exact order then I found them in but yeah. So basically one thing that I noticed is that there’s only a one review on it which instantly makes me think since I have five stars angry a little short and not very detailed review just that the app was excellent makes me think there’s someone who made this app or whatever the case may be just gave a good reviews of Apple stand out and say five stars. When I was trying to log into the app because it seem like since at five stars it looked really good it looked like a state of the art app. What is the app downloads I decide to get all of my information put in the app and do what I have to do. I’m not gonna make this too long, but basically what had happened was when I was logging in it kept basically saying that something was not right on everything was right and fully checked or it was just saying error occur or something like that and which I can understand but I have tried it multiple times and it has not worked have you been trying to sign in because sometimes my family will take my email or my number on stuff. This app just does not deserve the clout that they are trying to make it it is useless and doesn’t do anything. Let’s say I’m a teenager that’s trying to kill myself and this to get up is getting in the way of basically not doing that. I just don’t understand why people upload apps like this!!!

Hi there, thanks for giving us this feedback. We’d like to respond to a couple of the issues you raised in your review. First and most importantly, Give Us The Floor is not a crisis or suicide hotline, and is definitely not a substitute for therapy. Our supportive group chats are a place where teens can share their day-to-day struggles, accomplishments, and provide and receive peer-to-peer support. We do have systems in place to prevent individuals who are not in our eligible age parameters (13-19 years) from signing up, and we have made reporting very easy if something doesn’t feel right in a group for any of our members. If anyone who is attempting to sign up (and eligible to do so) is ever experiencing issues with the signup process, please feel free to send us an email at info@giveusthefloor.org. Generally, it is because they have not yet watched the required short welcome video we provide upon signup that explains our community rules so that everyone can enjoy the group chats safely. A few months ago I decided to download this app because of a AD on Instagram. So, I go through the steps and make a account. Eventually, it says that I have to wait to be put in a group. That’s fine however, I don’t like the idea of being CONFINED to one group. I would appreciate the fact that there would be the possibility of being in more than one group. That would make the service better.I also dislike app/texting layout and it looks like it needs some improvement. It’s a really great start but bad execution. Then I was basically pinned on the fact that I needed to do a survey for the app, I was annoyed that I got a “reminder” to do it. But then I got three texts in a row regarding on becoming a filclator and “reminders” about it. So I’m like you know what, I don’t like them texting me so I text “STOP” then, I’m told that if I confirm my stop, I get removed from my group. So then I said no. And keep in mind the organization can message through the app it’s self. My inbox was empty.Then my biggest pet peeve, which made me uninstall the app was the fact that I was getting texts regarding I need to do my part and text be active in my group. Like i get that but I don’t need a reminder for it. But something about the texts I’ve been getting make me uncomfortable. It’s almost like I’m getting punished for not partispaibgg in my group. Overall it’s an okay app, but really wouldn’t recommend.😑

Thanks for this feedback! A couple things to keep in mind about how our service works: it is accurate that we only allow members to be in one group at a time due to space limitations, but we definitely allow regrouping if you find that your group is just not a fit. We provide our supportive group chats as a free service, but our ability to do this is contingent on donor dollars, so we ask our members to participate in anonymous surveys which provide us with valuable metrics that we can share with our donors so that we can keep providing this service. For our participants, this is optional. We were experiencing issues sending out DMs in our app shortly after launch, but this has since been resolved. Finally, we do ask that members who sign up remain active in their groups. That’s one of our hard and fast rules, because if you aren’t actively participating in the group, there are others who will participate and who really need your spot. It’s not meant as a punitive measure but it helps us keep the groups alive and prevents people from “lurking.” You’re more than welcome to sign up again if you find that you have more time to really make use of the group chats and plan to be more active in them.
