The Petlink ACO app is for Animal Professionals (ACOs, Shelter or Rescue teams) in North America to use in the field. When Animal Professionals find a lost pet, they can use Petlink ACO on their phones to look up owner details via the pet’s microchip number and submit a found pet report to PetLink. We will contact the owner to let them know their pet has been found and set up reunification.
You can put the microchip number into Petlink ACO on your phone by keypad or speak the number in. You can also use the camera to capture the microchip number from the LCD display of a microchip reader. Using the camera makes it much faster to transfer the 9-, 10- or 15-microchip number from the chip reader to the search function of Petlink ACO. It also reduces typing errors. Petlink ACO will search for owner details first in PetLink, then in PetLink’s Backtrack system and finally in the AAHA Pet microchip look-up tool.
Petlink ACO will help save the lives of lost animals. The quicker a pet is returned to its owner, the greater their chance of survival. Petlink ACO allows Animal Professionals in North America to contact the owners of lost pets as soon as they have read the pet’s microchip number. There is no need to call PetLink, no need to use a computer to look up details.
Animal Professionals can use Petlink ACO to submit a found pet report in 4 easy clicks. We will then notify owners via SMS, phone and email, that their pet has been found and organize reunification.
When an Animal Professional finds a lost pet and that pet is registered with PetLink, then Petlink ACO will show a photo of the pet, if available, to confirm identification. Petlink ACO will also show medical details, if available, for the pet, for example if a dog is diabetic and needs regular insulin, this information will be clearly shown. This will be beneficial for the health of all lost pets.

Pay to have my dog chipped so I could tack him. The chip is made where only your vet can track YOUR pet. I called the company because I was sure there was a mistake. Sells associate tells me no app has been developed for pet owners. That technology has been developed yet. A kindergartner could come up with a better lie than that! Why doesn’t Petlink want us tracking our own animals. I
why can’t we change the info for our own pets
Cryptid Hours
downloaded this just to ask why we can’t track our own pets? my fiancés cat was chipped under a dif company and they have an app he can use to track him himself. i would love if there was one for pet owners to use before we would have to claim the cat missing. be more convenient for us and staff id assume, who deal with missing animals all day. also i used to be able to have access and now it’s for pros? why the change? no explanation? i was told to use this app by my vet and now it isn’t even downloadable, then i come on here to find out it’s been switched to vets only? i’d love to have had a notification or something. update: i realize and understand mine did not come with a tracking option, BUT i need to be able to change her photos and my address myself without a vet trip. esp since a vet literally gave this option to me and it was taken away and switched up for no reason, make ur own app for pros lol lemme have my cats info on here
Microchip information
Txvettech
A microchip is NOT a tracking device. I repeat, a microchip is NOT a tracking device. A microchip is implanted into your animal for proof of ownership and identification. You register your pet online through pet link. This is your pets “social security number”. Please update your information every time you move, change phone numbers or rehome your pet. 1) do not post online for other people to see2) do not put the number on your pets tags, simply put “I am microchipped” 3) add your veterinary clinics number to your pets tag. 4) if your pet is stolen or lost please contact your microchip company and local vet clinics immediately. While some of you may be frustrated that this app is for veterinary staff and shelter staff. Please understand that the wrong person could do a lot a mischief. Once again a pets microchip is NOT a tracking device but a form of identification. Please contact your local veterinary clinic if you have questions. If you are looking for a tracking device whistle is a very good one. Please keep in mind that there is no tracking device that will be implanted in your animal. All tracking devices go on a collar or harness which can be easily broken off or thrown away by the animal or a thief. You cannot legally remove a microchip. Sincerely, A vet tech.
Was not “pro” before
CJ&Pop
I was able to access this before - update the picture, my pet’s info, etc, all without making specific vet trips before it. I went to go update her picture and age only to find it now “for professionals only”. Because my vet definitely has time to take a new picture and update it in the system, yep.
