LUMA is a RAW-first iPhone camera and preset studio, designed around one idea: your photo should keep its depth from capture to final export.
At the heart of LUMA is an EDR-aware RAW pipeline. RAW files contain extraordinary latitude, but that latitude is easy to flatten in a standard workflow. LUMA keeps more of the image alive as it moves through processing, preserving cleaner shadow detail, smoother tonal separation, and far-reaching highlights that still feel natural. Bright skies, reflections, low light, and high-contrast scenes have more room to breathe.
It begins in Camera. Shoot Bayer RAW with automatic or manual exposure. Hold TEST to see the processed photograph in the viewfinder before you take it.
Presets in LUMA are not filters. They are reusable development recipes, built into the RAW pipeline. Apply them while shooting, refine them in Lab, then save your own looks for the next frame. Sensei can shape an adaptive edit for each photo, and on supported devices with Apple Intelligence, you can simply describe the Preset you want.
Lab is a non-destructive RAW editor with a staged imaging pipeline for light, color, texture, and tone. Adjust exposure, EDR, highlights, shadows, contrast, brightness, saturation, warmth, tint, tone curve, color grade, crop, atmosphere, bloom, halation, specular detail, grain, monochrome, and more. Every decision remains editable. Your original RAW remains untouched.
Export with the right finish for each place your photo will live: EDR 10-bit, EDR Safe 10-bit, SDR 8-bit, or original RAW/DNG. Import RAW files from Photos or Files, process multiple images in RAW Batch, save directly to Photos, or use LUMA’s Gallery to choose and develop your best work first.
LUMA is fast to reach when the moment arrives, with support for Lock Screen, Control Center, Action button, and Camera Control where available. The core imaging pipeline runs on device, with no cloud processing required.
LUMA Club is optional, for creators who want more.
Club unlocks 48MP RAW Fusion, 30+ film- and cinema-inspired Presets, location tagging, framed export styles, and early access to new tools. 48MP Fusion blends a burst of RAW frames into one high-resolution image, bringing sharper texture and cleaner detail to all devices, even those without a 48MP sensor or ProRAW.
Some features require Apple Intelligence or LUMA Club membership.

I love the app, it takes pretty decent picture, but it's just a couple tiny problems first of all. It's there's literally no way to find out how to do anything. It's a little bit complicated and I still don't know how to zoom and other stuff like that. I just wish there was like a tutorial when you install the app or even something to do it. Also I cannot make presets because I literally try to but. Nothing happened when I clicked anything, so I'm still confused what to do. If you can just add a simple tutorial or even label something that would be really nice. If, but everything else is perfect. Four out of five stars If once they can fix that, I will probably up my reveal. To fight swords but I'd say my only issues.

First of all, thank you for the kind words and the review.I am working on a comprehensive set of “guided tutorials” that will make learning the app easy; ideally there wouldn’t be a tutorial required, but there are a few concepts that are unique to LUMA.Thanks and stay tuned!
UPDATED FOR LUMA 4 - An excellent camera app that made a DSLR user with their iPhone camera more
mercuryenjoyer
Edit: An update came out that addressed the auto-exposure when tapping in manual. I have removed this from the review and changed the rating accordingly. This app is by far the best of any I’ve tried and it’s made me a lot more willing to take photos with my phone camera.Normally I wouldn’t bother taking pictures on my phone even if I didn’t have my camera with me as I really didn’t like the lack of control vs a DSLR, but LUMA has the full manual I want, along with presets (although at the moment does not have pre-made presets) and an editor. If you don’t like the options available, you can take the RAW files to your computer and play around with them in your editor of choice. It’s an excellent app with so much versatility, whether shooting manual like me or someone shooting much more casually, there’s something here for every level of photographer who wants more from their shooting experience than the default camera app.

Hi there, thank you for your review! As of 4.0.1, LUMA behaves exactly as you would like, with the opportunity to revert to the previous tap-to-expose behaviour in the Settings screen.Enjoy!
Trying to make it my go to camera app

I love the functionality of the app. Everything is amazing and I love the attention to little details. However there is a singular bug which causes major pains. In manual mode, setting the shutter speed to the longest setting breaks the check button. The app starts lagging and the shutter speed button stops working entirely. Happens on iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Thank you for your review.Yes, this is a know issue that I’m fixing - currently the app waits for the next frame to be received from the camera until the UI of the camera screen updates… not the best approach for 1s shutter speeds. Am optimising this together with support for longer shutter speeds (>30s).
Good app, wish it worked for my phone better

Love the ability to adjust shutter speed and iso. Wish there was a way to show how much details I’m losing to shadows and highlights. The preset function does not work for my SE 2020.

Hello! Thank you for your review. I have updated the app - with v1.5 available now, presets will work on all devices iOS 15 and up, and editing will work for devices with 3GB of RAM or more. I have completely rebuilt the photo processor, so it should be much faster and more stable!Rafal
