Introducing Pikaslice, a comprehensive slicing solution for both Resin/MSLA and Filament/FFF 3D printers on the mobile platform. Effortlessly import your 3D models, adjust their orientation and layout, apply manual or automatic supports, examine your scene for islands, and export your work to an extensive range of supported Resin/MSLA and Filament/FFF 3D printers. While the use of an Apple Pencil is highly recommended, it is not mandatory. To transfer the exported files to a thumb drive (and subsequently to your printer), you'll need an adapter, such as USB-C to USB-A, depending on your specific iPad and thumb drive model. Please note that this app is compatible with a variety of resin MSLA, DLP, and FFF/Filament 3D printers (see the list within the app). Good but needs some minor tweaks

First off, I am beyond thrilled that there is finally an, affordable, 3d slicer app on the App Store; this looks to be the first and only.The app itself is great, I love the UI and actually prefer it over using the Chitubox slicer on my PC. There are some minor things that need tweaking. Moving your meshes can be kinda wonky at times and some minor moving of buttons might be nice, like scooting the auto-supports button to a more accessible area, and maybe also having an option where you can use auto-support, parent supports, and bracing at the push of one button rather than hitting all three separately. From looking at the update history, the developer is very active with improving this app.My only issue, which very well might be my own fault, is that I’ve copied my normal exposure settings I use in Chitubox over to Pikaslice but was getting print failures (print was falling off of supports and becoming fused to the FEP sheet). I ended up boosting my exposure time and that remedied the issue. Chitubox still works with the original, unboosted, exposure times though. So I’ve been trying to figure out if this app is missing something or if Chitubox hides settings from its users.

Thank you for your feedback! There will be options later on to configure the UI to one's requirements, especially to let users focus on the task at hand. For the auto-supports: have you seen the three toggle buttons that enable automatic parenting and bracings when pressing the auto-supporting button?I'am sorry about the print failure you had. Was the file supported within Pikaslice? Maybe I need to tweak the support tip diameter a bit. I have been waiting for a iPad slicer for years and this app is the beginning of something amazing. However, there are a few bugs that I’ve run into that has haunted my use. 1. I can never get the file to print, machine shows a file but no preview and it will act like it’s about to start but then stops. 2. Rafting, I notice that when I add a file the cursor and the file are far apart, I thought it was weird but continued on. Once I added a raft, it showed under the part but then all the way across the screen to the cursor that is out of the printing area. I’ve have tried for ever to figure out a fix but I haven’t been successful. I’ve been talking with the creator on Reddit so I’m hoping that these can be address because I really want this app to succeed.

Really great iPad slicer

I’ve been using this slicer for about 6 months and have been using it exclusively. Between Shapr3D and PikaSlice and my iPad Pro I’m all set with all my 3D resin printing design and slicing needs. I hate desktop computers with a passion, so PikaSlice does the trick. I’ve found some minor frustrations around the manual placing and deleting of supports…sometimes it places, sometimes it deletes or moves them. Also the supports being visualized immediately puts them in the way when placing additional supports. I think a cool update would be to only show a tiny half-sphere nub that’s the diameter of the support tip at the model entry point for all supports that are either auto-generated or user placed. Then we could basically place nubs instead of long thin stalks that get in the way of remaining support work. Then just have a button that allows “visualize supports” and then show all the stalks and bracing etc. I’m pretty sure this would make placing custom supports a whole lot easier and draw more customers to this great platform. Makes sense, right?I also seem to recall updating the app once and losing my printer and resin profiles. That sucked as I had several dozen to rebuild. Hasn’t happened again…yet. Still…this is a great iPad compatible slicer. Many thanks to the developer.

Thank you for your great review! I've implemented a first version of your suggestion and there's now a toggle once in "Place Supports"-mode, that switches all supports to small cones when either actively placing a support or editing one. I will iterate on this feature more in the future, but I needed to get out a bug-fix with version 4.0.1 as there was a small issue with the support placement "lens". I'm really sorry about the printer profiles, that obviously shouldn't happen. Now that I have my own little server running in the background, I'll add backups of printer profiles/materials in a future release. Please let me know if you have any other ideas for improvements or encountered bugs. Especially to improve the workflow between Pikaslice and Shapr3D. There's also a feedback button from version 4.0 on, that makes this super easy to do. The new version is rolling out in the nest couple of days and might require visiting the App Store page of the app to trigger a manual update.

I really like the idea of this app! However, the key feature I need for success is not working. I have a mesh with a bunch of little pieces and I keep trying to separate the pieces using the separate shells into objects function, but they still only allow me to transform them together. I tried the toggle edit mode to see if that’s the setting I needed to move them independently, but whenever I use it it either crashes the app immediately, or when I click on any of the separated parts they vanish and there’s not even an undo function to bring them back so I have to reupload the mesh. Maybe I’m doing something wrong? I’m really not sure and there’s no tutorials online talking about this specific issue
