EpiCentr app is designed for individuals with seizure disorders and their caregivers. It’s intended to enhance safety and support during seizure episodes by alerting emergency contacts. It also includes a comprehensive journal to track seizures and detailed statistics reports for doctors.
The app actively monitors seizure-like triggers, promptly alerting your designated emergency contacts if a seizure is suspected. Specifically, our watch app utilizes Apple HealthKit to track user’s heart rate, while leveraging the gyroscope and accelerometer on Apple Watch to monitor the user's arm motion. If a seizure-like pattern is detected, an alert is promptly sent.
For immediate assistance or in case if Apple Watch is not available, manual alerts can be initiated directly from your iPhone. Additionally, the app allows you to maintain a detailed journal, effortlessly tracking triggers and recording side-effects, auras, and personal notes. Keeping all data at one place, the app provides reports with important descriptive statistics giving valuable insights to you and your healthcare provider.
KEY FEATURES AND HOW TO USE THE APP:
- Seizure Detection: By utilizing your Apple Watch, the app monitors various seizure-like triggers, such as motion patterns associated with tonic-clonic seizures, different types of falls, and abnormal heart rate. If any of these triggers are detected, the app initiates a delayed alert, which will be automatically sent to your emergency contacts if not manually canceled within 30 seconds. Set up automatic seizure monitoring by following the instructions provided in the app.
- Manual Alerts: Activate alerts instantly from your iPhone or Apple Watch. Choose between two alert types: Help Now, which sends an immediate notification, and Delayed Help, where a 30-second countdown is initiated before sending the alert if not canceled.
- GPS Location Sharing: When a help request is sent, the app automatically includes your GPS coordinates (if available) in the notifications sent to your emergency contacts. This crucial information enables them to locate you swiftly, ensuring timely and accurate assistance. Please grant location sharing permission to the app for this feature to function.
- Journal: Keep track of vital information about your seizures using the app's comprehensive journal. Effortlessly monitor triggers, record side-effects, track auras, and add personal notes. Seizure records are automatically captured, and you have the option to edit or add necessary details. Over time, the app consolidates all this essential data in one convenient location, providing you and your healthcare provider with detailed reports featuring important descriptive statistics.
- Roles: The app operates in two modes: one for individuals with seizure disorders and another for their caregivers.
Download the EpiCentr app now to experience a new level of confidence and security in managing seizures and seeking help when it matters most.

I would have to say that I like the app. I like that there are features available without a subscription. I also like that my contacts were able to be reached when I did purchase the subscription. I believe that as my situation has changed because of epilepsy and now leaning towards the help of the government until I can get back on my feet, this the app should also accommodate until I am readily available to pay for it. Another point I would like to make is that there is a whole organization dedicated to educating and providing resources for epilepsy to the public, I would recommend that the app provide access to the organization as well as local recommendations for specialists.

As a parent of a child with epilepsy, this app has been worth every penny. We sleep better knowing our child is actively being monitored even while we’re all sleeping. Yes, we get some false alarms, but they’re easy to deactivate before contacts are notified. One thing I didn’t expect to be so useful, but am forever thankful for, is the night audio monitoring. Paired with the Apple Watch health heart data, we’ve detected subtle nocturnal seizures. Time stamped audio picked up automatisms (lip smacking, swallowing, grunts) and the detailed Apple Health heart monitoring picked up the tachycardia spikes. We were able to present this data to the neurologist and adjust meds. I wish the app itself had more detailed HR data beyond range during a monitoring session and active bpm. Having detailed HR spike data would be very useful. Worth noting is that monitoring revealed tachycardia issues, so until we get that addressed with cardio and neuro, our HR notification range has to be pretty high or we’d be getting alerts all the time. This limits the app’s nighttime heart rate spike notifications we would otherwise be getting at night. We could lower the notification range at night, but chances are, we’d forget when our child goes to school and then it would be alerting all day. That’s on us, not the app developers. Also, the support team is wonderfully responsive and informative. We had a connection issue between the watch and phone they quickly helped resolve the problem.

Good place to track symptoms and way to keep loved ones in the loop

I’m brand new to epilepsy. Right now, I mostly using the app’s journal to record the various focal aware seizures I’m having (because it appears I’m not actually going crazy). And they just added medication, so I’m trying to get in the habit of that. I do have my son and husband set up as emergency contacts. Haven’t used that feature yet. Don’t really see myself using the sleep feature anytime soon. Wouldn’t love to have my profile synchronized with my Apple Medical ID, so I could have seizure records, diagnosis, med allergies, meds taking, surgery history, etc all in place (if they can’t sync, maybe your own medical ID that’s better?) and make it easier for hospitals and EMT’s to access the medical ID when we’re unconscious. Apple says it’s easy, but the hospital couldn’t handle it at all and I was still post seizure so only had 4 functioning brain cells, none of which knew how to work my phone.

A must have!!!!

I have epilepsy that isn’t very controlled, and I am a student that stays at home alone. This app has changed my life. I had so much anxiety while being alone and worried something would happen and no one would know. This app has given me SO MUCH peace of mind. It is pretty sensitive to repetitive movements even when on the lowest setting BUT I love it. It gives myself and my family so much peace when though it might alert for small things. My recommendation is to make a group message just for your alerts. It makes it way easier to have everyone notified if it’s just an accident, and if it is an emergency makes communication way easier. Across the board this is worth the monthly charge and I would recommend it to any of my fellow epileptic and non epileptic friends!!!💜
