Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
Ever since a big update several months ago, the videos on the front page can’t be viewed properly in landscape mode. A huge portion the picture would be cut off on the top and bottom, so only the middle section of the whole picture shows. Even when the videos are viewed in portrait mode, edges of the picture are cut off slightly, which doesn’t really affect the whole picture, unless there are words at the edges. The videos will be shown in full screen automatically and cannot, I repeat, CANNOT be resized, regardless of which mode viewed.Some images and gif will be oversized as well when clicked on, and requires to be resized, but some images cannot be resized and would require the viewing device (in my case, iPad mini 2) to be switched to the upright portrait mode.The videos in SinaNews that shows up in “messages” can never be played out ever since who knows when.Oh, another thing, automatic video playback cannot be turned off when viewing videos in series, once one video finishes, the app will scroll down and play the next (sometimes I like to watch the same video more than once, I would be happier without having to keep scrolling up to play it over!)Other than those annoying problems aforementioned, the app is fun for entertainment and socialization.

This company has been censoring users posts and there are ads popping in your timeline and you can’t remove them for good even if you are so called VIP. The official accounts are always sending you the trash messages encouraging you to sub to VIP, and sometimes you will get banned for no reason and you can’t find a real customer service to resolve this. They ask you to sign in and finish the tasks to gain bonus points, but when you finish those tasks they won’t give you the points you deserve, they say the process are under review and finally they will say you are not qualified to get the bonus points. Even if you have enough points to redeem the useless VIP, they will ask you to bind your financial accounts first, and after the expiration of the VIP you redeemed, you will be charged for sub automatically, which means they are asking you to share your real identity just in some tricky way. Yes, it’s a trash app with trash service and if you don’t want freedom of speech, just download it!

I throughly enjoy this app. It’s the best place for Chinese celebrity news. App is in Chinese, which is a given since it’s a social media app based in China, centered around Chinese entertainment and marketing, so be prepared to use a translator app (I use Google Translate) or have an understanding of the written and spoken Chinese. Yes I generalize, because Mandarin is not the only Chinese language spoken, but Google Translate does a decent job.I know people have mentioned bugs, but this app updates, frequently, like almost once a week. I have only experienced one bugs after an update, and it was fixed after a month, so knock on wood.I also do not pay for the app and only use the free version. There is a section in your profile that allows you to become a premium member for a small monthly fee. I would rather not risk having an issue and having to deal with Weibo’s customer service. I have bo clue if they have any fluent English speakers available to talk to 🤷♀️
