Live guidance as you write, from haiku to sonnet to villanelle. Battle other poets, collaborate on poems, and share your work. Now with a library of classics.
PortaPoet is your poetry companion.
Intimidated by what it takes to write a sonnet? Don't be. PortaPoet has live guidance for many popular forms, sonnets included. Syllable, rhyme, meter and other poem form guidance as you write.
* Write: Was that ten syllables, or eleven? PortaPoet counts as you type, shows which lines should rhyme and whether they do, and marks the meter where a line drifts off its beat. Tap a line and the notes for that line sit right under it.
* Share: A poem deserves readers. Publish yours and other poets can read it, like it and comment. Follow the poets you enjoy, and their new work lands on your home screen.
* Battle: Cake or pie? Pick a side and throw down. Call out another poet head to head, or post an open challenge and let anyone take the other side. Write for your team, and when the battle ends readers vote. Share the link and your friends can vote for you!
* Collaborate: What will another poet do with your opening line? Write it, hand it over, and find out. Take turns writing the poem and share your collaboration.
* Learn: What makes a villanelle a villanelle? The Poetry Glossary breaks down each form with a classic poem marked up line by line, so you can see the rules at work. One tap starts your own.
* Read: Every poet starts as a reader. The Poem Library gathers classic poetry by form, by topic and by poet, from Basho to Dickinson. Bookmark anything you want to come back to.
* Custom poetry forms: None of the supported forms quite cut it? Create your own! PortaPoet will give line by line guidance for those too.
* Free: Writing, publishing, rhyming dictionary, battles, collaborations, the Poem Library, the Poetry Glossary, following other poets, and comments. All of it, at no charge. Haiku guidance is free too.
* PortaPoet Plus (Paid): Unlocks line by line guidance for every other supported form, and for forms you build yourself. If you bought PortaPoet before version 3, Plus is unlocked for you at no charge. Our thanks for being an early supporter. On a new device, restore your purchases to unlock it.
PortaPoet Plus is available as an auto-renewing subscription or as a one-time purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.

amazing app for poet lovers, where we can share and learn from each others. U should take a rating system for poem via the interest of users.
Sweet app

Pretty sweet, like reading the poems by others more than writing :-)
No good

I would like my money back. This is a glorified Notes. Please refund.
Developer Response
Refunds are handled by Apple. That said, checkout the upcoming update 3.0.6 (should be out in a few days). We think you will find it to be much much more than a notes app.
Awesome App!
BookWorm49
Love the app! Super-easy to use and has everything you need for the poet-buff in you! Better than any of the other rhyme-ing apps out there. I love the buzz to-copy-a-word-to-your-poem feature (thats neat) as well as the ability to post your poem on friends walls on Facebook. Haven't tried the IPad version but am eager to see it. This could be REALLY useful as an integration to a word-processing app.
Battles are now live from the first turn. Vote and comment while a battle is being fought, not just after it ends.
Share an open challenge or a live battle with a link. Anyone can follow it, see the poems so far, vote, and get the app to answer.
Start your own battle on the same matchup with one tap from any battle you are reading.
Clearer wording on the vote page while a battle is still on.
Fixed: after signing in from a vote, the comment box now unlocks right away.
