We have totally re-written the app from scratch with a modernized interface built around Apple’s latest UI/UX guidelines, including a full iPad layout.
The HVAC Quick Load is the one and only rule-of-thumb HVAC heating and cooling load application for the iPhone and iPad.
This app performs rule-of-thumb HVAC cooling and heating load calculations for many types of commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential buildings. It allows you to quickly calculate the total required cooling and heating loads (in BTU/hr or Tonnage) and air flows (CFM or L/s) by inputting just the building type, total square area and number of people.
You can email all of the inputs and results to any email address. In addition, the email includes an Excel spreadsheet attachment from which you can perform more extensive calculations.
The basis of the calculations for this utility come from various authoritative HVAC texts that list average cooling and heating load values per square foot for many building types.
All values can be displayed in English (IP) and Metric (SI) units.

This app is great for use out in the field to quickly analyze the cooling and heating properties of a building. However, please note, that it is by no means a substitute for rigorous heating and cooling load calculations, and HVAC equipment and materials should not be selected based upon the results from this application.

It seems like I am always trying to figure out how much cooling and heating a home or small building requires. It's tough to try to get the dimensions and other info, go back to the office and then do extensive load calcs. Most of the time, I just need to do a quick load and this app has really helped me out with that. In fact, I did a quick load on a small office building using this app then compared it to the loads derived from a more detailed app, and the values were within 10%. Not bad for rule-of-thumb. Customers are impressed, too.

At first I was skeptical about a load calc app on my iPhone, since it is often so complicated. However, this app is so easy to use and I compared it to more rigorous load calc apps, and amazingly it came within 10% of those calcs.I like that it has so many different building types built into the database, too.I look forward to seeing more complex apps in the future.
