BEER TRACKING
The core of BrewGene is an easy-to-use and comprehensive beer tracking feature. Rate and tag what beers you're drinking, where you're having them, and how much you like them. You can also write detailed tasting notes, and create a 'watch list' of rare or favorite beers. Now, you'll never forget that great beer you tried last week, and you'll never accidentally order a bad beer twice.
RECOMMENDATION ENGINE
BrewGene will analyze your beer preferences and actually be able to predict whether or not you'll like a beer you've never tried before. You get a whole personalized list of new beers to try, and you'll never be disappointed by a random beer order again.
BAR LOCATIONS + ENHANCED MENUS
BrewGene has maps and beer menus galore. Use our 'beer finder' to locate places to purchase any hard-to-find favorite beer. Each location has a beer menu that is updated based on user activity. Even better, menus are integrated with your rating/recommendation data so you know exactly which beers to order when you walk into a bar.
SHARE YOUR ACTIVITY
If you're the type of person who likes to post pictures or talk about your favorite beers, we've hooked up BrewGene to Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare. We've also built a Beer Buddy system that allows you and your friends to easily see each other's tasting notes, beer activity, and offer personalized beer recommendations. For instance, if you need to get your buddy some beer for their birthday, you can search and see their favorite beers.
IPhone 11, IOS 14. This App is great for keeping up with brews I’ve tried and giving me leads on ones to try. There are issues in execution. First, anytime I use quotation marks or an apostrophe, after saving, it shows as a ?. Also often the listing of the address of the brewery is cut off and there doesn’t appear anyway to see it. Also, duplicate entries for the same brew should be easily reportable. Finally, it would be nice if it would alert me if I’m near somewhere that serves brews on my Watchlist. Update: 7/1/24 and still haven’t fixed the punctuation issues. Been 6 years since last update so I’m guessing they don’t support this App anymore?? Shame!

This app used to have issues in the past but it has been working quite well over the last few years. A few recommendations would be to be able to report if an incorrect image is associated with an entry, but also editing ability when you make a mistake after submitting an entry. I have submitted a few beers and have had to make a second entry because it would not allow me to correct a typo (although I can update my submitted images - nice feature).The wide variety of beers make this a much better app than many of the other beer apps that I have installed and later uninstalled.

Raise my rent
I broke the magic 1000 beer ceiling in 2023 after years of diligent data entry. It’s a great cataloging data base and you can compare your thoughts with other reviewers. I’d easily give it 5 stars if the search function was more sophisticated. It is frustrating to scroll through lots of near misses when I type the exact name of the beer and then it doesn’t come up first on the list. Otherwise it’s great! Like Frosted Flakes.

A developer so dedicated that, after the success of their original app (and failed attempts to find someone to renovate it properly) devoted a year of their life to learn app coding to release a better version that works the way the community wants by involving the actual community. How do I know this? Because I was a constant user of BrewGene I received contact from the developer asking for feedback for improving it, the developer opening a dialogue with the community of users.This app is proof positive that no matter how big other apps' web community is, and no matter how popular another brand is, people will use what works well and continue to use it forever.I sincerely hope that BrewGene becomes the foremost app for Craft Beer around. I enjoy trying new beers but don't have time to devote my life to every aspect of their review. BrewGene allows me to give a simple star rating for future reference, and notes if I have extra time and it's worthwhile.
