Backgammon is not a game of luck as many perceive, but rather, a strategic visual game of war; in many ways it is as difficult to master as chess.
Although an element of luck is involved, a skilled backgammon player uses intuition, calculations, creativity and psychology to beat the opponent.
The goal in backgamon online is to move all own checkers into the home board and then bear them off (i.e. remove them from the backgammon board). The first backgammon player to remove all of his checkers wins the backgammon game.
The Help section of Backgammon Live Online presents rules and strategies for backgammon. You will learn the best ways to play your opening rolls, how to Build a Blockade, how to Establish Anchors, how to Optimize Distribution of Checkers and how to Reduce 'Good' Rolls for the Opponent.
The backgammon strategies section describes When to Expose Checkers vs. When to Consolidate Them and how to make a decision When to Hit or not to Hit opponent's backgammon checker.
Although backgammon is a very old game, it still continues to fascinate its numerous fans around the globe. It is no wonder that nowadays there are many spellings and acronyms of the game's name. Backgammon can be referred to as: gammon, backgamon and even baggamon, baggammon and bagamon and bagammon! In Greece and Turkey, backgammon is known as tavla. In Iran and Russia, they call backgammon nardi.
If backgammon were strictly a game of chance, players would only be expected to win on average just about one half of their games. Yet, just like in chess, stronger backgammon players consistently win games against backgammon newbies. There is a lot more skill required in backgammon than just rolling the dice and mindlessly racing checkers around the board!
Backgammon Live Online app won't bedazzle you with currently fashionable 3D graphics. However, you’ll discover that this online backgammon app is a fast-paced and at the same time comfortable, relaxing and familiar parlor game of old.
Backgammon Live Online offers an authentic backgammon experience in an online backgammon club where you can chat, play and compete against other real players on the net and fall in love with this board game that’s been played for thousands of years.
Do you know the difference between 'gammon' and 'backgammon' in backgammon matches?
A gammon is a completed game of backgammon in which the losing player has not borne off any checkers.
A gammon is also called a double game because the winner receives twice the value of the doubling cube.
A backgammon is a completed game of backgammon in which the losing player has not borne off any checkers and still has one or more checkers on the bar or in the winner's home board.
A backgammon is also called a triple game because the winner receives three times the value of the doubling cube.
I tried several backgammon apps. This was the best one for pitting myself against live people rather than a comnputer. The game had some quirks but it worked pretty well. Dice rolls appear fair. Everything was going well until I updated a few days ago. Now the game is loaded with ads. Popups occur at the end of every game and each time you try to invite other players to play with you. Some of them take longer than others for the X to appear that allows you to close the ad. It’s super annoying and I’ll be looking for another app if they keep it up.Some suggestions for improvement: it would be nice if this operated like Words With Friends where I could choose either to play a friend or be randomly matched with a stranger. Sometimes, I have to sit there and push the button for “invite everybody” repeatedly before I’m finally matched. I’d also like another WWF feature: multiple boards with multiple opponents: I make a move on one board then move on to the next. It would allow me to think through the best option available on a bad dice roll without annoying reminders from the computer or snide comments from my opponents. Finally, the chat feature could use some improvement. You can’t start typing until you see a little blue cursor — but it’s on a black background so it’s hard to see. For some reason, you may have to hit your keyboard repeatedly and squint to see if the blue cursor is there - instead of it always being there when you shift to the chat window. It’s really annoying to start typing, knowing the clock is ticking on your move, only to discover that you didn’t type anything at all because the cursor wasn’t there before you started. Anyway, this was a very enjoyable game despite the quirks mentioned above until the update started saturating us with ads.
Competitive and Fun
Srblink
Out of the five backgammon apps I’ve downloaded and played over the past few years, this is probably the most competitive and enjoyable due to the opportunity to compete with players around the world. The random dice generator is fair and game analysis with dice rolls are provided after each game. The latest update provided pairings based upon experience and winning percentage. Overall, I have enjoyed it to learn and improve my strategy
This app is the biggest nerve wracking, cheating so there is in the app store!

The dice are rigged, there is absolutely zero randomness to the dice and the game app chooses who wins or losses not the pay of the player or any strategy out forth by that player. This app also sells so called tickets which you can in turn play others for, basically turns these tickets into a currency but the only ones that hey actual money are the admins of this app. They also run tournaments for so called tickets where you can win tickets. They have a forum section but if you post something that goes against their "racket" or hurts their bottom line numbers, they will block you from ever posting it.I've shared my findings of them cheating via email with some one claiming to be administration but he just denied my facts and findings that the dice and app is rigged.Do yourself a favor don't get the wacky app... IT CHEATS,
New format
wrigleyboy5
I do not care at all for the new format on our Backgammon site. It's harder to read with the green background. Same goes for the dominoes site. I hope this is just a trial on your part. It doesn't look like game colony without the 'white ' background. Big mistake making the change. Very disappointing.
