As stated in the title of this review, oh and I’m gonna be one of those people who says they don’t normally write reviews, but those people are lying. Anyway this app is dope but still missing a bunch of stuff. It’s up to the people who use the app to give away the samples instead of the developers doing some homework. Still I go to the record store pick up a record and immediately check to see if it’s been used. So thanks wax poetics I miss your quarterly 🤏this much!peace

I’d like to say that not only do you need the $3.99 to buy the app and use it for minimal things such as a few lyrics to find a song and that’s about it. You’re almost forced to spend the extra $9.99 to allow it to use your microphone to listen, pretty much the whole purpose of downloading the FREE app called “Shazam”. I tried this app thinking it could find sampled songs but if you’re into more underground music you’ll find nothing, fan-made, unreleased, leaked, unfinished, etc… You’ll only find completely published and sometimes a song name with an “unknown artist”. The last amazing feature is how after being so dissatisfied and wanting a refund, the app refuses to let me contact any staff relating to this joke of an app. I hope whoever reads this enjoys my aggravating experience and goes to soundcloud, google, shazam, anything else.

Hi, we're sorry to hear that you're unhappy with your purchase. The app is forever ad free and allows you to perform a text search for the samples, covers and remixes in over 1 million songs, at no additional cost. The audio recognition feature specifically is available under an additional subscription, and we try to make that very clear in the app's description and screenshots. All other unique features, such as Spotify and Apple Music library scanning, are included in the app without a subscription. We hope you give the app another try and find it useful after all, but if not, you can request a refund from the App Store. If you ever need to contact us, you can do so via the Settings tab in the app, or write to us at support@whosampled.com. Best regards, WhoSampled Support
Just like shazam or more like a SCAM!

Long story short: if you want to feel like you've been robbed by a poorly designed carnival game rather than enjoy your music, by all means, give this app your money. Otherwise, save yourself the headache and keep your cash for actual music! Literal waste of money… I’d give it zero stars if I could!Long story long: Honestly, I'm pretty bummed. I heard a new song, and I swear the first part of it is sampling another song. When I saw there was a “Shazam-like” app that I could listen to songs to figure that out, I was stoked and thought, hey, that’s worth $3.99. Talk about being jebaited because when I open the app to try to listen to the song I wanted to figure out, it wants to charge me another $9.99 as a subscription! On top of the $3.99 I already wasted. So then I try to search for the song manually, and it doesn’t even have the song I was looking for. Literal waste of money, bull!

Hi, we're sorry to hear that you're unhappy with your purchase. The app is forever ad free and allows you to perform a text search for the samples, covers and remixes in over 1.2 million songs, at no additional cost. This is unique to us and we invest heavily in adding and verifying this content on a continuous basis. The audio recognition feature specifically is available under an additional subscription and we try to make that very clear in the app's description and screenshots. This is in order to cover our direct costs in providing this functionality to you. All other features, such as Spotify and Apple Music library scanning, are included in the app without a subscription. We hope you give the app another try and find it useful after all, however you can request a refund if you're still unhappy with your purchase. Best regards, WhoSampled Team
Lacking essential features,
Honest Millennial Reviewer
App is ok but is lacking in some essential features. Some are available on the website (which is also lacking) and some aren’t.- Can’t submit newly identified samples through the app. How is this not one of the main features?? They should have this feature along with the option to save drafts prior to submission- No filter or sort options for searches (genre, sample type, exclude words in search, sort by year, filter by year range etc.)- No dark modeOther comments:- The animation when switching between the song and the sampled song is so annoying. Please make it one smooth transition instead of pausing in the middle- One feature that is ridiculous is the one where they pull in audio previews for sample listings from Apple Music and they specifically state “accuracy might vary” and whoo boy, yes it does vary. On the website it’s manually entered in so the audio previews are precise and usually plays at the correct timestamp even (depends on the source).
Developer Response
Thanks for the detailed feedback. We'll try to respond to all your comments:- Submission is a detailed and sensitive process, so we only allow it on desktop in order to reduce the chances of errors that are commonly associated with the use of mobile devices (such as autocorrect errors and typos)- Advanced search is something that we'd be looking to add in the future, though it doesn't seem to be a particularly commonly requested feature coming from our community- Dark mode is something we're looking at- You don't have to wait for the animation between the two sides, you can just swipe- Apple Music streaming can be switched off in the Settings tab, allowing you to view the manually curated streams as on the website. Unfortunately we aren't in direct control of the accuracy of the automatic matching, as the responses come from Apple Music
- Track ID is now free to use without requiring a subscription.
