When I was in college I used UrbanSitter a lot to pick up date night jobs during the weekend and even got a regular mother’s helper job during the week after classes. It was a great way to make extra money completely on my own schedule. You can set your availability for certain days and parents can book you, or you can look at posted jobs and apply for them. I met so many nice families and explored different parts of the city I may have never visited! When you set up your profile, definitely add a video and get reviews from past employers and other parents so you can start off with 5-Star reviews. I’ve seen other sitters complain but honestly if you do a great job babysitting and are professional and reliable (don’t no-show!) you shouldn’t have a problem and you’ll find so much benefit in UrbanSitter. Everyone at support has been helpful too with jobs and payments. I highly recommend you give it a try!!!

I literally was so excited about this app because of the reviews and what a friend had recommended so I got the app and did my background check all correctly.. I’m waiting for the results as it keeps saying pending and finally I have to reach out to someone just to get information on my back ground check to tell me that the birthday does not match? Okay fine. So now I have to go through a big process of trying to get my account unhidden. So boom, I submit my ID because that’s what someone had said I had to do and once I submitted my ID and did another back ground check it said my background check had been COMPLETE! and I just need to wait for the support team to get my Name. So I emailed the support team thinking the process was going to be very fast and someone from the support team emails me back and tells me my background check is NOT complete and I need my social security number in order to move on with this process. I have been at this for months trying to see what went wrong when I did my information on my background check correctly and now I’m facing the consequences of what an employee made a mistake on and now I’m going through a whole big process but I give up because I emailed the support team about 5 times and I still haven’t got any response back from them even if I wanted to put my social security down to move forward. Over all I’m very disappointed in this app I wouldn’t say I don’t recommend because it might be better for someone else but from my experience I wouldn’t recommend for myself and family/friends.

Sitters need more protection

I have been using this app for the last eight years. I have great reviews. Last week I got very sick and I couldn’t take a job and I canceled within 5 to 6 hours of the job. Not a lot of time for the family to find someone but in a city like New York enough time to find a sitter. I wasn’t able to see the information of where the job was and or communicate with the family because Urbansitter needed me to pay for membership and hid my profile. I didn’t have enough money to pay the membership until basically now. The job got canceled and the family was able to write a review which I don’t think is fair because I wasn’t able to write a review about them. They’ve never met me and they were pretty angry at the fact that I canceled on them six hours before I was supposed to show up. I don’t think that they would’ve wanted their kid to get the virus that I had. I now have a bad review and I’ve been trying to contact someone from UrbanSitter and all I’m getting is multiple automated emails. As a sitter who has been on the app for years I think that this is extremely unfair. There HasTo be a way where sitters also get protected especially because we’re paying nearly $50 a year. Also if I’m paying that much why am I getting automated messages? Why am I getting automated messages a day after I’m writing an emergency email? I love the app and I love all the families that I have met and worked with. I have 29 repeat families but I do feel like there could be better improvement with how sitters are protected. Especially right now when there are many viruses out there and I’m doing my due diligence and trying to protect the family and the child from getting sick as well.

I downloaded this app looking for a job I paid for a membership to get a background check I passed my background check but then my account got hidden so I contacted them via email no response then my account got deactivated for no reason so I emailed them and they responded with an email saying that my account email that I was emailing off of was not connected to my account because I logged in with my Apple ID because I wanted it to go through on Apple I responded with the iCloud email and I said I couldn’t get in because my account was deactivated they told me to go to settings even though I told them my account was deactivated so then I email them again with screenshots no reply so then I go to Apple to see if I can get a refund and I was not charged through Apple even though I used my Apple ID for the app so I had to go make a dispute because they would not give me my money back and I couldn’t get into my account because it was deactivated and they weren’t responding to my emails so I had to make a whole case with screenshots of emails and i was on the phone with Apple and found out I couldn’t get a refund off of them so I had to go through all this because i was scammed my money was taken and they refused to email me back this is the worst app I have ever downloaded I am so upset and I emailed them multiple times and was very patient and I got no response
