Description

Edit and typeset LaTeX, Plain TeX and Markdown on your iPad or iPhone, no internet connection required, using Texifier, formerly known as Texpad.

Texifier is a LaTeX editor designed for straightforward navigation, editing and typesetting of projects of any size. Open a LaTeX root file, and Texifier will scan it, open any referenced files, extract the document structure for display in the outline view, and configure the typesetter according to the packages and tools used by your document.

Texifier's editor comes with a choice of themes, syntax highlighting, autocomplete of commands, including those defined in your document, and autofill for \cite commands, \ref commands and others. The powerful sidebar can show you a summary of your document structure allowing you to navigate through large multi-file projects with ease. Additionally Texifier's outline lists all labels, figures, tables, todos and it contains a powerful search function that can search and replace across your entire project using either normal text searches or regular expression searches.

TexpadTeX - Texifier's internal, no internet connection required, typesetter comes with PGF drivers, Native Fonts extensions, a Unicode and more, allow it to support almost any LaTeX package available. TexpadTeX also integrates a BibteX tool and a Makeindex compatible indexer for documents that require those tools. The integrated bundle manager takes care of downloading, installing and updating LaTeX packages for you, giving you access to almost the entire LaTeX ecosystem without using any more space on your device than needed.

TexpadTeX can run in Live mode, updating the output as you type, so you never need wait for a typeset to finish again.

For the rare cases of documents that are not compatible with TexpadTeX, you can use our free cloud typesetters. This is fully integrated into Texifier so press typeset, and Texifier will run the typeset in the Cloud, presenting the results just as if they were typeset on your device.

After all typesets, any errors in your document are organised in a table of issues. Tap on an issue to jump directly to the offending line of LaTeX source, or the line in the original log if you wish to read the original output.

Texifier works well with Files App, allowing you to store and work on your documents wherever you wish. On top of that Texifier Connect is directly integrated into Texifier for working across devices and collaborators.

Texifier supports Markdown along with LaTeX. Edit your document in Texifier's syntax highlighting editor, browse the document by outline, then when you press Typeset, the document will be transparently converted and typeset by LaTeX (using a standard template), giving you the informal ease of Markdown with LaTeX's ability to create beautiful and high quality PDFs. Likewise Plain TeX users can edit and typeset their documents in Texifier.

Features:

- Universal binary for iPhone and iPad, optimised for the latest generation of devices.
- Typeset LaTeX to PDF on your iPad and iPhone without need for an internet connection
- Support for LaTeX, Plain Tex and Markdown
- Navigate easily through even the largest projects using the Outline view
- Search all files by string or regex with the global search view

- Use iOS Files app to edit documents in any storage that supports file or folder access

Needs Quality of Life Improvements

This app really is great. Being able to work on homework and papers on my iPad has been super. The app even compiles quicker than my laptop that has a intel 8750-H.
However, there are some key quality of life improvements that need to be made that I’ve noticed so far. Firstly, when I type a curly bracket {, it auto fills the other side being }. However if the next character is the close bracket, and I type it instead of using the one already provided, it will do something like {}}. It will also do this with parenthesis and $ used for the inline math environment. I wish it wouldn’t replicate these characters if the next character after the cursor is that character (this is what other text editor solutions automatically do). Additionally, I use my apple keyboard to type on my iPad. Thus when I want to use the prediction that auto fills, I wish I could use the arrow keys along with tab in order to choose which selection I want to use.
Lastly, DARK MODE PLEASE. This is a must and would make the editor so much easier to use for longer durations. The file browser solution could also look prettier and be easier to use - but that is something minute for me.

Reasonable, but issue with Export->Copy

The app is awesome, the idea is great, the handwriting recognition is impressive. However, after paying to unlock the export and then trying the export copy feature (to have the TeX land in my TexPad app, another awesome and impressive tool), I was surprised to consistently see double the amount of necessary text. That’s right: hand-write say x+y, say Export,Copy and then go into TexPad and say Paste — you receive x+yx+y ! Now that is quite burdensome. Of course, if I try say with Notes, this does not happen. If then, right away, I select the text from Notes, copy and then paste into TexPad, it does not happen either. So I don’t know who is to blame (my app writing skills are not very extensive, but I am a Computer Scientist, having been working with various other stuff, practical and theoretical, for almost for 30 years). If I dare to try to “open into” directly into TexPad, then it opens a new file, which I clearly do not need (and it also forgets where it had an already open file from — I had to quit TexPad and to restart). I know these things can be quite a bit tricky, from having myself tinkered with apps in the past. So I am still full of respect and admiration towards all these apps and all that is unfolding, and keep the five stars. May I advise a bit of cooperation and integration between these two really great tools, if possible ? Thanks !!!

Drive integration would make 5 stars!

This is an awesome app for using LaTeX — easily the best I’ve found and trust me when I say I’ve tried them all. The only thing its lacking is a google drive integration. While Dropbox is great and what I’ve been using, so many of my collaborators are on google that it’s frustrating to have to use 3rd party apps to sync everything appropriately. I look forward to an update with this in mind!!

Otherwise the interface is a joy to work on, and the live pdf generation makes it so easy to see what you’re doing. This app has made it possible for me to ditch my heavy laptop for work and use my iPad exclusively, which I LOVE! Super easy environment to type in and while the shortcuts they’ve integrated do take some time to get used to, once you do they are truly a serious time saver. I also love that you can download just the packages you need for your docs, and don’t have to take up a ton of space on your device with unneeded packaging. Finally, I do like the file organization built into the app. Makes it easy to add figures, bibtex, etc and keep everything organized the way I would on my computer. Just wish it had that drive connection....
