Winner: Best Educational App by Teachers with Apps
Social Quest is the premier, evidence-based gamified intervention tool developed by a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to help tweens and teens (Ages 8-17) master crucial pragmatic language, social-emotional, and problem-solving skills.
Stop searching for relevant, age-appropriate materials. Social Quest provides over 800 high-interest narratives paired with real-life contextual images set in everyday locations like home, school, and the community. This app transforms abstract social concepts into a motivating, customizable quest, providing the vital "jumping-off" points for deep therapeutic discussion.
Why Professionals and Families Choose Social Quest:
1. Evidence-Based & Curriculum-Ready
Story-Based Intervention: Aligned with evidence-based practices found effective for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and social communication disorders.
Targeted Pragmatic Skills: Explicitly addresses perspective-taking, conversational maintenance, gauging reactions, problem-solving, and developing self-talk for anxiety reduction.
Focus on Generalization: Features separate Receptive (multiple choice) and Expressive (open-ended) activities to promote the generalization of skills beyond the therapy room and into real-world settings.
2. Motivating Quest Theme & Personalized Profiles
Gamified Learning: Students navigate a "Tele-Transporter Machine" to visit different locations and solve social challenges.
Hall of Heroes: Easily manage multiple student profiles with customizable avatars or real photos to build ownership of progress.
The Hall of Rewards: Reinforce growth with skill-linked tokens—such as a "Saddle" for asserting control or a "Prism" for perspective—providing tangible anchors for discussing social success.
3. Critical Data Tracking & IEP-Ready Reporting
Automated Data Collection: Effortlessly track student accuracy across activities, specific locations, and individual sessions.
Detailed Report Cards: Generate comprehensive session reports highlighting accuracy, items presented, and most/least successful locations.
Seamless Sharing: Print or email reports directly to parents and case managers, simplifying record-keeping and enhancing parent-professional communication.
The Social Quest Advantage
Real-World Contexts: Scenarios are set in the kitchen, library, supermarket, mall, doctor’s office, and more to ensure high ecological validity.
Flexible Social Scripts: Customize Receptive activities to require one or two correct answers, reflecting the nuanced and flexible nature of social rules.
Multi-Sensory Support: Every question includes high-quality contextual images, text, and accompanying audio to support diverse learning needs and literacy levels.
Bring the quest for social competence into your practice or home today!
This app is good. A few flaws though: there are no directions for use since the only option was a video which is no longer available. I would also like to be able to toggle between expressive open ended responses and receptive options which can provide choices if kids are stumped. Last it would be nice if there was some type of data breakdown between types of questions—-for example social expectations/manners, social inferences, etc
Great Social skills app
SLPMCA
At first I was not not a fan of this app, and I didn't use it for a while. Then I gave it another chance and I decided I really like it. There are several scenarios available and I use it often with my older kids. The only thing I would like and this is something I want in most apps and that is the option to hide choices and then push a button to show answers. I want this because I like for my kids to attempt a verbal response and if they struggle then I can offer them the choices.
Need a little more
SLP SAM
I like this app. I think the situations are great. Only thing I would add is making the players work toward an actual final goal. They are on a quest. Perhaps they could be locating buried treasure or finding a lost city. Older students, especially "gamers" need more of a storyline and motivation than just collecting rewards.
Great for students in middle and high school
Barbtab
I have had difficulty in the past finding age appropriate materials for students in middle and high school, but I love this app. A vast array of situations that may be encountered in the home, school and community allow the student to be exposed to a variety of possible scenarios. Social skills are such an important skill for students to learn. Thank you for creating a great app.
We have introduced a "Clean UI" mode as the default experience to reduce cognitive and sensory load for neurodivergent learners.
Matte Styling: Replaced legacy PNG textures and "vibrant" scrolls with high-contrast, matte brown-on-cream parchment themes.
Reduced Distractions: Eliminated "ghost" buttons and visual clutter to ensure students stay focused on the social narratives.
Native Controls: Uses modernized, standard UIKit controls for faster performance and a more predictable interface.
