"The Ultimate Remix": Experience a completely overhauled interface with modern graphics, now fully optimized for the latest iOS devices.
Preposition Remix: The Musical Way to Master Spatial Skills
Turn up the volume on language learning! Developed by certified speech-language pathologist Barbara Fernandes, Preposition Remix is a high-energy, music-themed app designed to help children, English Language Learners (ELL), and individuals with language delays master the "where" in their world.
Why Real Photos Matter
Unlike abstract cartoons that can be confusing, Preposition Remix uses nearly 200 real-life, high-quality photographs. This concrete visual anchoring helps neurodivergent students and language learners generalize spatial concepts—like under, between, and closest to—from the screen to their everyday environment.
Build Your Virtual Band
Motivation is the key to progress! As students correctly identify spatial relationships, they earn musical notes to unlock a virtual instrument collection. From guitars to bagpipes, students can tap and play their instruments, turning therapy into a creative jam session.
Features for Professionals and Parents:
Comprehensive Library: Targets over 20 core prepositions including above, behind, beside, between, under, in front of, inside, closest to, and furthest from.
Professional Data Tracking: Automatically logs session dates, targets attempted, and accuracy percentages in a detailed "Report Card".
Complete Customization: Toggle individual prepositions on or off to align with specific IEP goals or classroom lessons.
Clinical Scaffolding: Adjust feedback settings to include "No Response" for incorrect taps to reduce frustration, or "Written Cues" to support early readers.
Multi-Player Support: Manage multiple student profiles on one device, tracking individual progress and instrument collections separately.
I love this using this app to work on prepositions. You provided great customization tools by allowing us to choose what prepositions to work on, what type of audio reinforcement, and if we want written cues, which are very handy at times. I like that data is taken and shown at the end and that you show us overall accuracy and specific data on each preposition targeted. There is a nice info page for anyone that needs to review how to use the app. I would like it if there was a skip button, but it's not that big of a deal. To the people complaining about bugs/not accepting answers, I use to think there was something wrong with it as well, but there isn't. When it gives the directions, ex. "Touch the cat in front of the bucket", you have to touch the cat to get a correct response because that's what the directions asked for. It would be different if you were presented with two separate pictures and asked, "Which picture shows the cat in front of the bucket?", but this app is not set up like that. I like that the developer made it so that the child has to completely follow the directions and select the target that is under, on, etc. and not just the general area. When I had the audio set to 'buzz' my younger kids always thought they got it wrong and would go for another part of the picture so I set it to 'no response' and I would praise them and guide them to touch the correct spot. So far, many of my kids, even the younger ones have learned to pay closer attention to the directive and touch the correct target and not just the general area. I hope this helps. Great job Smarty Ears!
Great language tool
mtmarySLP
As a speech language pathologist, I'm often looking for new therapy ideas to teach language. Prepositions Remix is a great tool to add to my virtual tool kit. There is a quick tutorial showing the adaptability of the application. The pictures are clear and the directions are easy to follow. A "therapist version" is available which allows the SLP to chart multiple students at the same time. The SLP (or parent) can choose which prepositions to target for that session. For instance, if the SLP wanted to limit the prepositions to include only "above" "under" and "behind" that can be done easily. The results section lists the date, the prepositions that were worked on, overall accuracy, as well as a breakdown of the prepositions and accurcy...This allows the SLP to easily see which concepts are still shaky for a student. In addition to the prepositions the app targets, I'd like to mention the opportunity for vocabulary built into the application. For instance, one request is to "touch the fruit below the apple" which is a great way to talk about different fruit (or musical instruments, or animals, or...). The reinforcing "good job" for a correct choice also has expanded language built into it... "You're right, the yellow pen is ... " I think this leads to increased language exposure in a very natural way. Overall, I think this is a great application for anyone working on prepositions and language with a child.
Good app for therapy!

I am an SLP in a school, and I really like Preposition Remix as I am always looking for more ways to teach prepositions and following directions. This app is good for kids that need to learn to follow simple directions or work on basic spatial I like the option to choose only specific prepositions that you want to work on. This app also keeps data for you and gives you an accuracy percentage at the end of the session which is great. I also like that you have to touch the specific object for the answer to be correct. For example, if the direction is to touch the baby in the basket, you have to specifically touch the baby and not just the basket. There are a couple things I would change. I would like to be able to keep data on more than one student at a time, as currently you cannot. Also, when a student picks a correct answer, the screen stays the same and the only reinforcement is auditory (either a beep for a wrong answer or a person talking for a correct answer). I would like to see some sort of visual reinforcement if the student picks the correct answer (i.e. the picture could be highlighted or a smiley face could appear on the screen indicating a correct answer). I think this would help reinforce correct answers for children that have receptive language difficulties. Overall this a great app!
Great speech app

This app is a great addition to my therapy tools. I like the fact that it keeps overall accuracy as well as specific preposition accuracy. The only picture I have not been a fan of is the "find the glasses out of the case". This is because the glasses are on the case and the case is black so it looks as though every pair is in a case and my kids usually get it wrong. I like the different customization options as well. Please be aware that in order to get an answer correct you have to touch the specific area and not just a general area. For example, if it says touch the man under the stone, then you need to touch the man and not the stone if you want a correct answer. I can see how this feature can cause some people to think the app doesn't work, but i like that Smarty Ears set up the app this way. Great job!
