Seriously so AMAZING! If you’ve been struggling to find an ebook reading app that has good feature and a good look, this app is IT!This my second review on this app, since the Liquid Glass update came out not too long ago and man, it really gives the Yomu app a clean, fresh look (it already looked good, but it feels like after this update, the app was given a lil extra polishing) I’m being 100% honest when I say i don’t have anything negative to say about this app! That’s just how good it is! Simple, but clean! That’s Yomu!!!The only thing that I have to offer are some suggestions for new features in the future!! I am hoping for a feature that lets you go line by line when reading, it’ll blur out the rest of the words on the page and when you finish reading a line, you can tap on the screen to go to the next line (so, similar to what Apple Books offers!) I have always had trouble with accidentally skipping lines and getting confused, used to read with a bookmark covering the next lines in school for this reason! Hoping something like that gets added in! It’d be a super helpful feature for many users I bet!
Quite good, missing some customization and file management features

I am a Kybook 3 lover, but given the lack of ongoing support for that app, started looking at alternatives. This was the best option I found. The tagging system is great; the bulk import feature works well; navigation is very straightforward. Overall, the layout is easier to use than Kybook 3, and the filtering and “read status” features are awesome. The iCloud backup feature works well. I also like the ability to export annotations, though I have not played around with that feature yet. Also appreciate the wide range of supported filetypes. A few feature requests: 1. When doing a bulk import, allow the user to apply tags to all of them at once. Failing this, make a “select all” button, and/or make multi-select much easier. Right now, I have to manually tap every single imported document to apply a bulk tag. 2. Support nested folders !!! this one is huge. I have a wide variety of types of content, and a single level of folders is going to get unwieldy very quickly. Also, it would be great to be able to delete or rename the “Yomu” folder that is taking up space at the top of the folder list, since it’s useless to me for categorizing my content. 3. Increased customization of colors. I find a dark grey + faint yellow text the easiest to read, but there are only a few presets to choose from. I also find the lime green system color really hard on my eyes, and don’t see a way to change it. This is one area that Kybook really shines and where I feel the biggest difference in the switch. 4. Make the iCloud backup library visible to users in Files for easier file manipulation and export. 5. Bulk edit of metadata (adding an author, e.g.)
A Reader for Explorers

06NOV25: now reliably syncs across iOS and MacOS. Doesn't always permit highlighting italicized text. Good notes, bookmarks and highlights annotations. Splendid little reader routinely updated. =Peace= =============================== 26APR24: Remains the leader of the pack of nonDRM eBook readers. Yomu preserves all notes and highlights, but to open the last location on another iOS device is unreliable, which has dogged this app form the beginning. I find it best to use ‘HandOff’ feature, then commence reading. Buy it and support the developer. =Peace= =============================== 23JUN23: another useful incremental upgrade. Yomu is the epub reader leader at this time. ========================== 14may23. Supported and periodically improved. I’m a bit disappointed PDF support is read only. Notwithstanding, the epub utility of this app is unassailable. Remains at 5stars for developer focus on maintaining this splendid app. =Peace= =============================== Obtaining reads for the many epub/PDF, etc servers provide a treasure trove of inexhaustible material. This reader is at the top, opening multiple windows and plays well with split screen. Another update, for me, is exciting. This app is a jewel
Developer Response
Yomu uses Apple's default text selection, which can sometimes be unreliable. What usually works best is to long press on an individual word and then adjust the selection handles. There will likely be some optimizations in an upcoming iOS platform update. Please report this issue directly to Apple for it to be prioritized: https://www.apple.com/feedback/
Good reader but poor performance

This reader is fantastic. It allows for easy sorting by series and even allows you to edit the metadata in the app (basic functionality that is for some reason missing from other apps). The only bug I have run into so far is likely due to the horrendous loading times. Every time you turn to a new chapter, the page goes blank for 1-5 seconds. If you try to turn the page again during this loading time (for example if there is usually a blank page at the end of a chapter and you scroll again assuming this is that blank page), it will skip the whole next chapter. I can fit 500 copies of this book in RAM there is no reason for an eReader to have loading times other than when you first open the book at this point (I would say 2007 would have been the last time should have been an issue)There are only a few things I can think of that would make this app better, for example, multiple sorting criteria. Sorting by author and then sorting by series under each author. It would also be nice if there was a page flip animation option as that is something I miss from iBooks. And it would also be nice if there was an option for it to group books by series so they would be separated by series when scrolling through the list.Another addition that would be great is an integration with Komga as that is what I use to manage my books.
– Table of Contents
Choose between a hierarchical table of contents or a flat content outline of all book file entries.
- Zoom Gesture
Double-tap to zoom in/out on PDFs and comics. This feature is optional and must first be enabled in the app settings.
- OPDS Search
Support for standard OPDS and OpenSearch feeds to directly look up and find any book in your collection.
- OPDS Bugfixes
Fixes an issue where OPDS feeds could not be parsed correctly.
