Useless. I will get my online groceries from Safeway instead. I’ve been trying with Giant “tech” to fix my account over the past many months (when I could muster the effort) for from 10 minutes to literally an hour at a time. They are nice and try hard but it’s just one problem after another. This last time i was on the phone with them for at least an hour (no joke, and I took time off work for it) and they made some progress then hit a snag AGAIN. So then I told them to delete my account and just forget it! It’s the 21st century for crying out loud. Also the app is so laggy and the search was improved but still bad and very frustrating. Good luck to you if you try it. Me? Never again. Been going to my same neighborhood Giant for 30 years but NO MORE!! I don’t normally take time to write complaints (but I think I have another one on here for this app from before because it is so uniquely frustrating).

I was very leery about downloading this app because of the poor reviews but this thing is great. Took me a few minutes to figure out how to get connected to the store’s Guest WiFi but once I got that working, it was smooth sailing. You scan each item with your phone’s camera as you place it into your cart and when you get to the register simply click Checkout and scan your Scan-It barcode. Some items won’t scan but you scan those at the register before you pay. After you scan the barcode and the register loads your scanned items, you get a voice prompt telling to scan any additional items that you either didn’t or couldn’t scan with your phone. Then pay as you normally do at the register. This app is fantastic!

Turns out this is NOT the official giant scNit app. Look for a red and black app, not a purple one. Sorry. THAT one works!!I used the app over a year ago until they disabled it and said you needed to scan through the Giant app instead of scan it. I was on the phone multiple times. I even deleted my account and started over with a new card. It kept confusing it with the old card even though they told me at the Giant phone helpdesk that my old account had been deleted. A month ago the Giant scan stopped working - invalid account. I was told to delete and redownload. Now I see the scanit app is bCk again but it won’t recognize my id, password or card number. It’s avtotal disaster!

The app now activates more reliably, but there are still MANY PROBLEMS. First and most important, the app honors some but not all advertised specials, so if you use it, you must check your receipt carefully to verify that you were not overcharged, then go to the service desk to get a refund on the offers that were not properly applied. Second, there is no way of verifying that those offers were applied properly until after you commit to checkout. Coupons are available, but require another login every time, even while using the app. Finally, there is no way to view details of past transactions unless you are in the store. Terrible app--still needs much work before I will use it for my regular shopping. It's a shame because the ability to bypass the checkout lines is good for health and safety.
