Survivor Z starts out as a text based RPG, and transforms into a real world Massive multi player RPG that utilizes real world location data and hundreds of hours of cloud based content that keep players engaged longer than any game out there. New challenges added via the cloud and player rivalries will keep this game on the home screen of your iOS device.
From Ed Anderson, the creator of "ZDAY Survival Simulator", "Survivor Z" is a text-based Role Playing Game set 311 days after the ZDAY apocalypse has wiped out 90% of the world's population. Gameplay begins with an exciting strategy-based prologue, where the player has to make it home to the safety of their ZDAY bunker. Then, fast forward almost a year, running low on food and water, our survivor is forced to emerge, only to find that the world has changed. The population is decimated, and the dead roam the earth in incredible numbers. Every decision a survivor makes can be the difference between life and death, and even the most seemingly trivial mistake can mean doom.

Gameplay in Survivor Z expands on the concept of its predecessor, "ZDAY Survival Simulator". While relying on the familiar text based model, Survivor Z introduces a vastly improved and incredibly robust game engine that gives the survivor complete control over their weapons, inventory, and armor. In addition, players can use their items in context to complete challenges, as well as find an ally with non-player character survivors in the game.
Survivor Z is the first game of its kind, combining the intellectual challenge of a text based RPG with the fast paced action of a board game. But Survivor Z doesn't stop there, in addition to being a very entertaining adventure game, Survivor Z adds another dimension by utilizing cloud based game content that will continually provide survivors with new updates and challenges, and uses location based services to transform the landscape around the survivor into the post apocalyptic world of Survivor Z.
Survivors will find real world location challenges like the Newark Cinema in Delaware, Restaurants in Portland, Oregon, and even the Buddy Holly museum in Lubbock Texas to name just a few, as well as hundreds of other challenges that can be found in any town in the country. Everyday coffee shops, fast food restaurants, hardware stores and malls are all transformed to become the backdrops for survivor strongholds, hidden troves of weapons and supplies, and dangerous traps set by rival survivors. No matter where you go when you are playing Survivor Z, you are in the realm of the undead, and no place is safe.
Once the player has fought through the fictional game content, the real work begins. The player can search real world locations to find new challenges, unlock new stories, and try and build strongholds to protect against attacks from the undead and rival survivors. Players fight to take and hold onto territory and resources as they struggle to survive. The more your influence grows, the more powerful you will become. Scavenge for supplies, craft fortifications and traps to protect your interests. It you against the world.
**Note: This game requires an internet connection to play, and location services to be enabled.
This game is a lot of fun and very addicting, however there are a few improvements that could be made. First, every time I try to access my clan chat, it doesn't work. Second, when traveling with several survivors and you come across zombies, the survivors with guns should prioritize their attacks and attack the larger groups of zombies first instead of taking out a single zombie when there is a horde of 8 behind that one. Third, in the safe house or strongholds items should automatically be sorted based on function. I have over 5000 items in my safe house and there is no assortment to them at all. Finally, when moving things from your inventory Into the safe house or stronghold you should be able to store all of a single item at once instead of dragging each individual one over, as this can become very time consuming. Like I said this game is incredibly fun, but there are a few upgrades that could be made in order to make it a 5/5.
Beautiful app but staff are horrible
Lee Joubin
I have been with this app for over ten years and long story short it is the best game on the AppStore I have ever come across in fact the best game ever for mobile I have ever seen but the staff damage the experience so much, I have tried for over 2 months to get dlc I bought added to my account by contacting them through email, Facebook, Twitter, and more and have been ignored, ED was on the team awhile back but I am not sure why but the staff and the support went down hill and it is sad to see such a beautiful app and game get ruined cause the creators and owners are so negligent. I hope this changes but as of now I cannot suggest the game fully as with how bad mongadillo is acting towards its supporters, especially ones like me who have been around for 10+ years, is disappointing and sad to say but it is just not right. Thanks for taking the time to read my review and I hope it helps you find a game right for you. If you want to see how bad the company is going downhill look at their Twitter they are saying dumb and rude things like “who do you want to see die from COVID?” During the pandemics peak. SMH. So disappointed to see how they are currently but I do wish them the best and want to see them thrive.
Good game, but could be better...
A loyal gamer
I love this game, it's right up my alley and fun to play. But I don't like how you have to pay in order to get revive after you die, I have made my first account and I have yet to die on it, I have tons of gear and defended safe houses. I have made other accounts so I can see other outcomes , and seen what it's like to die, but it's kind of a pain to log in and out of them, and I sometimes forget the passwords. Another thing is that I think it would be nice if that you have enough items you could craft a locked case or something(you can store a certain number of items so that if you die and choose to continue with a penalty you would have some extra items, outside of your hot bar) because it's not a lot of fun having a good account when I am afraid to die and loose everything I have spent a long time getting because I wanted to experience something new. I also wish survivors were easier to find, on rare ocassions I find one but before I can find another (because I don't pay good attention to their health 😞) they usually die before I find another, leaving me by myself to fight off the zombies. Please take this review into mind when creating another update, thanks. (ADDING ON A DIFFERENT DAY) I have spent a long time trying to figure out how to properly defend my strong hold, can you please add something to help me, like a new section in the help menu, at this point I am just randomly adding stuff and hoping it will help. I also have a problem with moving, I am going to move to an entirely different state but I can only carry a little bit of gear, can you please add the option to help me move all my gear (or more than an inventory of it) over a LONG distance? I don't like spending money on the game, but you could add something like wherever you are you can teleport your safe house to your current location for 0.99 usd, I would think that's a fair price because anything over that and I would be better off saving my money.
High Potential
Fox 2A
I believe that since the latest update that makes multiplayer somewhat playable, there are so many new doors that can be opened to new opportunities to the game. Although it is still a bit glitchy and some of the features and items are kind of useless right now, I believe that if the developers stay active and actually listen to the community to make this game with the players than this will truly be something remarkable. I myself have many ideas specifically on the multiplayer part that I would like to see implemented into the game and updated to make it so much more enjoyable! My high hopes make me rate this a 5, but the fact that this was the LAST major update and the fact that to fully play ever aspect of the game you need to spend too much real money is already preparing me for disappointment and makes me keep the rating at a 4...
