Paste a route as filed: airline routes, airways, North Atlantic tracks and more than 50,000 new IFR fixes. NEW • Paste an airline route the way it was filed, for example "KORDR10L ORD9 EBAKE … NATU … BLM3G LSZHR14". Runways stay with their airport, SID and STAR names are recognised and skipped, and every token that is not flown as a point is listed with its reason before the route is applied. • Airways and North American Routes: "ENTRY Q100 EXIT" lays out the points between at their published positions — US airways and North American Routes from the FAA, UK airways from the UK AIP. Where the data does not cover a leg, it is flown direct and the note says why. • North Atlantic tracks: a pasted track such as NATU is expanded from the current FAA track message, but only when the fixes either side are the track's first and last points and the message is still valid for your departure. Otherwise the leg is flown direct and the note says why. • More than 50,000 en-route fixes from the FAA (United States and oceanic), the French SIA and the UK AIP — searchable, and ready to paste. PREMIUM • A pasted route keeps its runways on the trip (for example KORD/10L). Runway performance judges exactly that runway end and shows its own result, never another runway's. IMPROVED • The Day/Night Overlay draws night where it is night at every time of year, and the terminator matches the sun. • The flight bar stays clear of navigation bars and sheet titles. • An airspace opened from the vertical profile stays open until you close it. • Offers & News (Settings › License & Store): choose whether Pilots Atlas may tell you about offers such as the Black Friday sale, by push notification or by email. It stays off unless you switch it on, and an email address is used only after you confirm it. • A handful of old waypoints now sit at their official positions. Anything you saved on one of them stays exactly where you put it, as your own position. • The planning chart and the FIR and SUA downloads are retired; their files are removed to free space on your device. Free for every pilot. • Chart symbols: obstacles are drawn the way a VFR chart draws them — lit, exceptionally high, wind turbines and obstacle groups — alongside reporting points and landmarks. Layers › VFR CHART switches obstacles, power lines and cableways, and landmarks on and off separately; the map legend explains each symbol. • An obstacle's card shows its height above ground, its top above sea level and the ground it stands on. A height nobody has filed reads "Not filed", never a guess. • Runways drawn to scale from zoom 11 at more than 2,100 airfields where the thresholds are verified, each end with its designator. Further out, aerodrome symbols turn to their main runway. • Declared distances (TORA and LDA) for more than 1,100 airports across Europe and southern Africa, from open flightmaps, on the Runways card — marked unverified, with a reminder to check the AIP (AD 2.13). PREMIUM • Runway performance uses those declared distances whenever they are shorter than the runway, so the figure you plan with is the conservative one. NEW • Before dark: every trip shows whether you land before night by your own rule — UK ANO (sunset + 30 min) or civil twilight — from the trip's wind-corrected times, with the latest departure that still makes it. In flight, a caution tells you when your live arrival slips past dark. • Community Board (Settings › Support): suggest features, report issues and share tips, vote and comment, and get notified when the team answers or a status changes. • A short tour of the highlights on first launch — replay it any time from Settings › Support › Feature Tour — plus tips at the moment they help. • Traffic labels show relative altitude, TCAS-style: "+05↑" is 500 ft above you and climbing, a flight level when your own height is unknown, "GND" on the ground. The confirmation tells you how many circles go, and they go on all your devices. • An airport's popover offers Delete Range Circle and Remove Marker whenever it has one, right where you set it. IMPROVED • Range circles, ETOPS circles and markers set on an airport, navaid, waypoint or POI belong to it: its popover shows them, changes them and removes them, and a marker stays on the map with the Positions layer switched off. • Notes written on an airport, navaid, waypoint or POI are kept with it and open again from its popover. • Add to Trip from an airport adds it by its ICAO ident, and Remove from Trip takes it out again — one visit per tap, so an out-and-back keeps its other leg. • The map follows every change at once: a new trip leg, a resized or deleted range circle, a new note. Each choice shows its size, checks your free space and warns before a large download over mobile data. • Progress is shown for each part, and the map keeps downloading if you close the app. Everything it fetches appears in its own Downloads screen. • "Ready to fly offline" appears only when nothing is missing. Follow a tail number and its flights are recorded for you, whether or not the app is running. And a brand-new offline base map, taken country by country instead of continent by continent. NEW — FOLLOWED AIRCRAFT • Follow an aircraft and its flights are recorded on the server, with the app closed. Open it next week and the history is there. Three aircraft free, 25 with Premium. • Tap any target on the live map and follow it from its popover — no need to already know the registration. • Each leg names the airfield it began and ended near. Nearest field wins: a home strip with no ICAO code is the right answer, not the airport six miles away. • The legs of one day are grouped into a trip and analysed together, and you can correct the grouping when it gets it wrong. • A height profile you can zoom and scrub, tied to the track on the map. • The altitude curtain: a ribbon from the ground up to the aircraft, coloured by groundspeed, so a flight's height is readable from the side. • Several journeys drawn at once — different days, different aircraft — each in its own colour with its name and date written along the track. • Claim a leg, and choose whether other followers see your name. Legs are anonymous until you do. • A followed aircraft's last known position is marked whether or not you are looking at that patch of sky. • GPX export for any recorded flight. NEW — OFFLINE BASE MAP • A brand-new base map, built from current OpenStreetMap data and styled for aviation. • Downloaded per country, not per continent: take the two you fly in, not the twenty gigabytes around them. Navigation detail first, then two further levels, each stating its own size. • "All of this area" takes a whole region's navigation tier in one action, sized for what is actually missing on your device. • The download queue is visible at last — what is transferring with a real percentage, what is waiting and in what order, each with its own cancel, and Cancel all. Downloads continue while the app is closed. • Lose signal and the map switches itself to your downloaded tiles, then returns to the style you chose when the signal comes back. A check that could not run says so rather than passing. FIXED • Weather could still come back empty for up to 150 airports at once. A malformed station identifier — not merely a blank one — makes the weather service refuse the whole request. Every path now goes through one validator, including the AI Copilot's, which used to answer "no weather at these airports" when what had failed was the question, not the airfields. • A large download could freeze the app. It was a deadlock, not a slow disk. • A pack whose file had gone was counted as two failures, a deleted pack could reappear on its own, and the counter read "80 of 81" a second after the tap. • Downloading a route's weather could leave the app crawling and swollen for a minute or more. Not the US only: Frankfurt, Heathrow and Amsterdam are served today. • Each airport has a NOTAMs tab, decoded and grouped, covering the field and everything within 25 nm of it. • A map layer draws them where they are. Every European NOTAM in the feed is filed as a single point rather than a shape, so the area a NOTAM describes in its Q-line is drawn as the circle it actually is — and the ones written as a polygon in prose are drawn as that polygon. • "NOTAMs in view" sits at the top of the map and always agrees with the layer beneath it — including when a load is still running, was capped, or is hidden by a filter. A green "no NOTAMs" is never shown for a map that has not finished looking. • One filter switch per category: Runways & Taxiways, Airspace, Obstacles, Lighting, Navigation Aids, Communications, Procedures & Charts, Other. • The map has a time — "Active now", "All valid", or a chosen moment. A runway closing at 2200 tonight is visible while you plan this morning, not only after it shuts. • A pre-flight briefing for the whole route: every airport on it, then everything within 25 nm of the ground between them. It names what it could not reach or had to cap, because a short list of NOTAMs and a short list of airports we managed to ask about must never look alike. • Cached, so a briefing you have pulled survives losing signal. Route planning gains the two things it was missing: the real ground beneath your route, and real winds in the navigation log. NEW — TERRAIN PROFILE • The cross-section now draws the actual terrain under your route. Since February it drew a flat line at sea level, which over the Alps made an airspace floor look reachable when the ground was already above it. It also says which elevation resolution each stretch came from, and marks gaps as "no data" instead of letting them read as flat ground. Advisory only: bare earth, no masts or towers, never a clearance figure. • Every airspace the route crosses is tappable, opening the same detail card as a map tap — at the point your route enters it, not the polygon's centre. • The Profile button existed only in the compact trip editor. On iPad and Mac, in the wide layout, it could not be opened at all. Both layouts have it now. NEW — WINDS ALOFT • Global winds aloft. Courses, ground speeds, times and fuel in the navigation log are wind-corrected for the first time — worldwide, not only over the US. Set a cruise altitude and the winds are read at it. • The log says which of four states applies: fetching, no cruise altitude set, nothing available, or applied and at what level. An empty wind column must never read as calm air. NEW — ARRIVAL WEATHER • The trip Weather tab now shows each airport's forecast for the time you will be there, beneath the current conditions, taken from the TAF period covering your estimated arrival. TEMPO and PROB groups are shown separately — a chance of IFR is not IFR. • Each arrival time says whether it is wind-corrected, and an arrival no TAF period covers says so rather than showing a forecast for a different time. NEW — MAP AND AIRSPACE • A tap now offers everything under your finger. An airport inside a CTR, under a TMA, under a FIR only ever offered the airport; the rest were reachable only by switching layers off. All of them are listed now, likeliest first, with class and vertical limits on each row. • "This Position" is always the last entry, so a position, a ruler or a briefing can be started anywhere — including on top of an airport. • An airspace's operating hours and activation conditions are now a readable weekly schedule instead of raw JSON. • Double-tap the map to fly to an annotation. NEW — WEATHER DATA • A full sync is two requests instead of about 68. The Airport Types filter goes with it: every airport gets weather now, not only the large ones. A refresh interval replaces it, 15 minutes to 6 hours. FIXED • Airspace downloads had stopped working for everyone, on every version — OpenAIP moved their data behind a paid-access bucket and anonymous downloads began failing. They now go through our own server. Countries already on the device kept working, so the failure was invisible until you added one. • An airspace ceiling filed in feet was shown as FL19500 rather than FL195, and that figure reached the proximity logic. • Region downloads resume after an interruption instead of starting over. Half of all downloads that were started never finished, and the largest packs fared worst. • A clear night was rated "Excellent conditions for VFR flight". Day and night are now shown under both the EASA/SERA and the 14 CFR definitions, and the rating is capped after dark. • Location access was requested cold, with no explanation, and a denial left no way back. It is explained first now, and recoverable. • Weather sync stopped permanently after the first low-memory warning while looking merely slow. • Aviation Data read "Zero KB" during a refresh, and a continent row claimed "0 of 52 have data" directly above "49 cached". Trip planning grows up, and your flight numbers leave the app — on the Home and Lock Screen, in the Live Activity banner, and on your Apple Watch. NEW — TRIP PLANNING • Aircraft profiles. Enter your aeroplane's cruise speed and fuel burn once, and every time and fuel figure is calculated for it instead of a generic default. Type an ICAO type and the make and model fill themselves in; typical figures for that type are offered, but only applied when you press the button — they are book values for the type, not for your airframe. Settings ▸ Flight Settings ▸ Aircraft, or inside any trip. • Route field. Type or paste a whole route — "EDDM DKB EDDS" — instead of adding waypoints one at a time. Airports, navaids, fixes and coordinates all resolve. Anything it cannot resolve, it tells you about before applying. • Insert Before and Insert After on any waypoint. Adding a fuel stop between legs 3 and 4 no longer means adding it last and dragging it back. • Drag the route on the map. Waypoints and the midpoint handles between them are draggable by default now. A new "Lock Route" switch protects a finished plan. • Terrain profile. A side-on view of the ground beneath your route against your planned altitude, drawn from the elevation data on your device. Advisory only — bare earth, no masts or towers. • Printable navigation log, as a PDF you can share or file. • Pack this flight: which countries your route crosses and which terrain packs you are missing. • Magnetic course, from the onboard magnetic model. NEW — WIDGETS AND WATCH • Flight widget — the flight timer plus the fields you picked for the Flight Info Bar, with distance and time to the next waypoint during a trip. Five sizes, including Lock Screen. • Apple Watch — an Instruments screen in the Flight menu and a face complication in four styles. If the phone goes quiet while you record a track, the watch falls back to its own GPS and says so. • The Live Activity banner now shows real ground speed, GPS altitude, track and the active trip's route. • Nothing on a glance surface goes quietly stale: values older than a minute are withdrawn and replaced by a reason. FIXED • "Insert into Trip" on the map never inserted. It appended, exactly like "Add to Trip" — two menu entries doing the same thing, and the one promising mid-route placement never delivered it. • The navigation log's course column was labelled HDG but carried a true course: no wind correction and no magnetic variation. It now reads TC, with a separate MC column beside it. • Deleting several waypoints at once removed the wrong ones. • METAR and TAF downloads stopped working for everyone when the weather service tightened its API. Restored. • Premium features were locked on every launch for customers who own them, until they happened to open the Store tab. • Live Activity: altitude in metres was labelled feet, a 3.28x error. • Apple Watch: Trip Progress and the trip complication had never shown a trip, and iPhone unit settings never reached the watch. • GPS altitude is no longer shown as a flight level anywhere. It reads "5,500ft GPS" — without a QNH there is no correct flight level to compute, and that number gets read out over the radio. • Airspace data now loads country by country under a memory budget, ending the low-memory crashes some iPads saw. The Flight Info Bar: your numbers on top of every screen, and an awareness band that speaks up about airspace, terrain and traffic before you get there. Free for everyone. NEW • Flight Info Bar — a slim instrument strip that follows you across every tab, showing the fields you choose: ground speed, track, GPS altitude, height above terrain, vertical speed, GPS status, distance, time and bearing to the next waypoint, cross-track error, nearest METAR, QNH, UTC and local time, sunset, and highest terrain ahead. Double-tap a cell to switch its units, or track and bearing between true and magnetic. • Awareness band — appears only when it has something to say: the airspace you are in, controlled or hazard airspace ahead with distance, time to reach it and vertical limits, FIR and country crossings, nearby ADS-B traffic, degraded GPS, approaching twilight, and points of interest below. • Height above terrain, worldwide — a global elevation model is built into the app, so AGL and terrain-ahead work offline anywhere, with nothing to download first. • Terrain packs — optional high-resolution elevation for 236 countries, in the Download tab. They are small (Switzerland 0.6 MB, Germany 1.5 MB) and the accuracy gain is large: valley airfields such as Innsbruck and Sion go from hundreds of metres out to within a metre. • Magnetic track and bearing from the World Magnetic Model 2025, computed in the app rather than read from the device compass, so it stays correct in flight and offline. The bar is off by default. Switch it on in Settings ▸ Flight Settings, or from the map toolbar; touch and hold that same button to pick your fields. IMPROVED • The bar keeps flying when GPS gets thin. It holds the last good values, marks them as coasting, and tells you when the fix is stale or lost instead of quietly freezing. • Traffic distance and airspace lead time are yours to set, and any single alert category can be silenced without losing the rest. FIXED • Airspace geometry, three real errors: airspaces made of several polygons were skipped entirely, cut-outs inside an airspace were ignored, and vertical limits given above ground were read as if above sea level — which affected a fifth of the built-in airspace data. The ruler's airspace cross-section is corrected by the same fix. • Weather: one airport with a non-standard identifier could fail an entire request, leaving around 300 large airports without METAR or TAF at the default settings. • A database upgrade could fail on installs carried over from much older versions, breaking trips, photos, notes and saved positions on every launch. • The climb gradient calculator in Captain's Corner reported rates 100x too high. • Country names in the terrain pack list are now matched and grouped correctly.
