If you’re considering banking with DoD Community Bank, don’t, especially if you value modern digital tools or basic functionality in a banking app. Their mobile app is a disaster. It’s clunky, slow, and barely usable. We’re talking about a platform that feels like it was developed a decade ago and never updated.Biometric login? Half the time it doesn’t work, requiring a pin from e-mail even though Face ID is available. Transfers? Laggy and unreliable. Push notifications? Nonexistent. And good luck trying to navigate the interface, it’s unintuitive and looks like something you’d expect from a local credit union in 2005, not a bank serving military members stationed overseas. The app crashes on the regular. For those of us serving overseas, this isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s a liability.The euro exchange rates are also the worst in the market.In an era where mobile banking is the norm and service members are frequently on the move, DoD Community Bank is stuck in the past and their refusal to modernize is unacceptable. You’d think a bank tied to our armed forces would understand the need for reliability, accessibility, and speed. Instead, we get mediocrity wrapped in military branding.If you’re active duty, a family member, or a government employee, do yourself a favor and bank elsewhere. This institution clearly hasn’t prioritized its users in years.

The only thing I need these guys for is an automated rent payment to landlord. They updated the app, lost my reoccurring payment info and never notified me that rent didn’t post. On the 13, I walked into the Bank to get transaction history, found out what happened and the Manager yells to me from across the room “we sent you something”, like that makes it all better. Half hour in bank to setup a new account on the spot to access my funds, during the work day. Half hour at home finding and re-entering IBAN info for landlord and transferring funds. And finally an email to landlord apologizing and explaining that the people I bank with can’t figure out how to do banking. Priceless. You lost a customer, after Xmas your gone!! By the way, the credit union right down the hall is open until 18:00 to allow people to get to the Bank after working hours. They don’t close at 16:00. What a concept.

This is unacceptable. When I first downloaded this app, I could not get past the login screen. It would perpetually load nonstop; literally no progress no matter how long I waited. I deleted the app, checked the reviews to see I was not the only one having this issue. I figured I would download again later, surely the developers would see the mountains upon mountains of negative reviews and at least make the app functional. I waited THREE MONTHS to re-download and there is no change whatsoever. Why is the one app for the only bank that service members overseas use to rely on to pay rent not functional?? Just further proof that people do not care for the people who took that oath and fight for America’s freedom. I’m extremely disappointed with this product, if I could give it zero stars, I would.

This is by far the worst app I ever encountered. I had better online banking in 1997 when I had to load it from a square disk and use dial-up to access it. All recurring transfers were cancelled when the new app was created but that was never communicated to customers (telling me you sent a letter in the mail in June does nothing for someone who opened the account in Sept). Thankfully I went to the branch and asked just in time. There’s no longer any previous transactions. Now I’m expecting rent to pay again and all I see is a pending payment for Dec 1. It’s Dec 18. So another trip to the branch is going to have to happen before Christmas so I’m sure my rent is paid. The poor folks in the branches are taking the heat for this colossal mess and I feel bad for them.
