With a past shrouded in mystery, that wakes up in the middle of a field and is attacked by a horde of mutated Potatoes. With no one else in sight, he takes it upon himself to try and keep the evil infestation in check. Even since release there are over 5 worlds with 9 Areas of 100 Waves, each with 2 difficulty settings, so YES, “it’s over 9000” waves with more to come in the near future. In the early stages of the game you will have two main currencies, Potatoes and Skulls, that you can use on over 30 upgrades that increase your stats or debuff the Potatoes, but don’t worry, this is just the start of the adventure. There is a set of Equipment in every Area so there are over 250 visually different items but due to the Item Rating, Enhancing Levels and Bonus chances, there are over 2M possibilities for unique Equipment in the game. But worry not. We know storage management is not something a lot of people like in general but the whole system is custom made and with auto’s available to help you keep everything neat and tidy. Skills that he has acquired over a very long career. Skills that make him a nightmare for Potatoes. And each and every one of his many Talents, are made for the sole purpose of ridding the world of all Potatoes. Even the non-combatant ones if possible, as they make one hell of a meal. The Talent tree is huge, with choices that can change your play-style significantly. And the best part is that they are not permanent, so you can experiment to your heart’s desire. And everything’s visible from the start: no fog of war type of tree, no hidden talents … or are there? There are many other features that you can play with, including a mini-game that you can play on a regular basis to get various timed buffs for your Farmer. The idea is simple: whack all the potatoes that pop their ugly heads out of the johns. Why, you ask? Because being a Farmer is a full-time job and enemies are everywhere! The Reincarnation system which Farmer Against Potatoes Idle also has. But every time you Reincarnate for bigger permanent bonuses, you can also change between 6 different Classes, each with their own strong points and Talent Trees. This creates a second layer of strategy decision making to make the game more enjoyable for various play-styles.

This idle game is easily one of the better ones I’ve played, out of the few dozen or so I’ve tried. There’s always something to be chipping away at, whether it’s increasing basic stats, skill farming, playing the minigame, or even doing the more in depth side stuff like the farm or the worms. And, arguably most importantly: THERE ARE NO RANDOM ADS. Almost any sort of “But this part isn’t as good/polished/deep as I want it to be yet!” Is one that I can easily look past by realizing that this game is actively putting the player’s interest first. I can sit here for thirty minutes and just ACTIVELY play this IDLE game. The fact that I can do that with no interruptions is stupefyingly good.The only true critique I could levy against this game is the lack of easily accessible and plainly readable information (as in, perhaps, being able to tap and hold an icon to see what something is or does). You instead have to tap on the blue circle i icon in the bottom right, which has a more in depth explanation- which is still a relatively good thing, as it tells you in full what the deal with something is. Well and truly, one of the best idle games I’ve come across.

It’s a good progressive idler with a ton of content and a rewarding prestige system. The game introduces new content at a good pace and isn’t overwhelming at all. There is an in game shop with boosts to various parts of the game but you can earn the premium currency by completing daily’s (which you eventually can get a QoL perk that auto completes these for you so you just gain them passively) so you’ll be able to get everything just by playing the game. Best of all no ads!The introduction of multiplayer events looks interesting but for some reason the game says I’ve been caught cheating though I’ve never done anything but just play the game on mobile. Not sure how it registers how a player cheats but I’m now locked from the new multiplayer content until it gets fixed. It’s new content and the first time they’ve implemented a multiplayer so I’m sure there are bugs to sort out and I’m happy they’re making sure multiplayer isn’t ruined by a few people with an unfair advantage.

Lots of potential but work needed

This game has a lot of potential, but there are several big items holding it back. The plus is that it has a tremendous amount of depth. I’ve been playing for a month and I still feel like I’m making progress and have something new to work toward. In this sense, this is one of the best idle games I’ve played. On the other hand, there are a number of issues that really need to be addressed sooner rather than later:1) There are so many mechanics that are not well explained. There is in-game help which is essential but there’s a lot more detail that needs to be added to make it more clear what’s happening in each area and how each concept works. This is probably my biggest frustration with the game.2) There’s no cross-platform support. I saw threads on Steam from 2022 saying this was coming. It’s now almost 2025 and it still isn’t here. Pretty much every other game I play these days can be freely switched between iOS and PC.3) There are a lot bugs, especially with offline progress calculation. The game is stable, but I keep finding issues with offline progress not being calculated properly.4) Multiplayer needs to be rethought. It was frustrating to fully use my tickets and never make it above the 2500+ tier. I don’t know if it’s because I didn’t spend real money or if it’s because I joined mid-season but either way it was very frustrating and definitely not a fun part of the game.
