The translation of the Old Testament from the Septuagint into English is a process that involves both linguistic expertise and a deep understanding of the historical and cultural context of the original texts. The Septuagint, often abbreviated as LXX, is an ancient Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible, specifically the Old Testament, which holds significant importance in the history of biblical scholarship.
Use this app to track the dates of other religious holidays in the Orthodox calendar such as Christmas, Epiphany, Theophany, and the Dormition of the Theotokos. These holidays are based on the liturgical Orthodox calendar, which is a cycle of readings and liturgical services that are used in the Orthodox churches. The liturgical Orthodox Calendar follows the same patterns and themes throughout the year, and it is closely tied to the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Why follow the Orthodox calendar: mindfulness and introspection, humility recognizing one's own smallness in the grand scheme of God's plan and purpose.
- Build discipline and routine in one's spiritual practice
- Foster a deeper sense of connection to the divine
- Take time to reflect on the sacrifices and teachings of Jesus Christ by observing religious holidays
- Foster a sense of community and shared spiritual practice with other Eastern Orthodox believers.
The Orthodox calendar, also known as the Julian calendar, is the calendar used by many Eastern Orthodox churches around the world to determine the dates of religious holidays and observances. It is based on the Julian calendar, which was introduced by Julius Caesar in 45 BC and is currently 13 days behind the Gregorian calendar. The Orthodox calendar has different dates for Easter and other religious holidays, which are based on the liturgical calendar. It is an important part of the religious tradition and culture of the Eastern Orthodox churches. The Orthodox calendar is currently 13 days behind the Gregorian calendar, which is widely used in the Western world. This difference is due to the fact that the Orthodox churches did not adopt the Gregorian calendar, which was introduced in 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII as a reform of the Julian calendar. The Gregorian calendar has a leap year rule that eliminates the accumulated error of the Julian calendar, so the Orthodox church still use the Julian calendar. The Orthodox calendar follows the same month names as the Julian calendar, which are: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December. However, the Orthodox calendar has different dates for Easter, which is the most important religious holiday for Christians. The Orthodox Easter is always celebrated on the Sunday following the first full moon after the vernal equinox. This is different from the Western Easter, which is always celebrated on the Sunday following the first full moon on or after the vernal equinox.

I have searched for many different apps and this is the best
add nickname:
I have searched many apps which have been very overrated and I have search apps that have too much ads in them and also they are hard to scroll but this app orthodox Bible is the best one I have found in fact when it was available, I paid for the Leif membership version Which was around $100. Very happy I did that because with the new updates that are always coming out. I am seeing it change and get better all the time. I’m very thankful that I made that decision a while ago and paid for the app. Maybe one day they will make it available again for people who want to pay once, but it is well worth it even paying a monthly or yearly fee And that of learning, God‘s word and the helpful insights of the holy fathers and the Saints. The app works great on phone and even better on tablet. I need to be reading this and opening this app much more because it is Gold In my hands and I need to use it. I need to cherish it.

It’s great! but…
and try again
This is a great app for me as an Orthodox catechumen coming from a Protestant background. I really enjoy the resources in and it has greatly aided me in my journey into Orthodoxy. One thing I do wish would be improved is the usability of the Bible section. Other Bible apps like the ESV or YouVersion are so easy to navigate and do a very good job at being user friendly. I think it would be better if this app took inspiration from those apps for the Bible section. I want to use this app for Bible reading because it’s the OSB translation which includes the Deuterocanon but I find myself going back to those other apps because theyre so much easier to navigate and use. And another suggestion, I think it would be really cool if we could have more options with icons on the homepage so that we could basically turn it into a virtual prayer corner!

Every Christian should look into Church history. My wife and I came out of Pentecostalism and found Holy Orthodoxy 🙌 So grateful to God for us being able to find His Church He established with the apostles. We really need to ask sincere questions like “can I find the church I go to with the doctrines it has in the first 1,000 years of Christianity?”. The EO Church IS truly Christ’s Church. We need to really looks back in time and read the Church Fathers and you’ll see the faith and worship they had towards God is way different than most, almost all Protestant churches. And the RC Church broke off, you’ll need to do more research on this part because in 1054 AD is when the Church split into Eastern Orthodox (Eastern churches) and Roman Catholic (Western church). God bless 🙏❤️
A fair review

I love this app. I even payed the extra money so that I could hear the audio book scripture. The quotes of saints and holy Fathers is nice and reminds you when you need it to stay focused on God. That being said I wish there was a feature to download the audio book scripture and listen without wifi. Also rarely, but it happens when I get a quote where I sit and think did that saint really say that? I got this quote from saint Michael The Archangel that said “being a leader doesn’t mean you have followers, it just means you go first.” I couldn’t find this quote anywhere other than some TikTok video. So clearly it wasn’t a real quote. Which bothered me a bit. Other than that I love the app. If those things were changed this app would easily be a 5 star. I find myself using my study bible at home over the app, but when I’m not at home I spend hours reading!
