I really like Archer. What I like about it is that there are no scammers and “down low” and faceless profiles. Also a lot of people are very respectful on there. But I can say for a while it was almost like a wasteland, barely nobody texted me and or respond to my text for almost a half a year. And that was even after it was activated within my part of California the central Valley. I also think it’s interesting how they allow us to follow each other’s profiles kind of like it’s a social media app with dating. That was kind of like how Taimi of how it started, but they have recently gotten rid of their social media/social groups feature. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s not very accessible for people with disabilities, especially you cannot screenshot any of the chats you have for either future reference and or allowing people that use iOS to read the text. I am severely dyslexic myself and I need help with reading the text and there’s a feature in the iOS especially on the iPhones where if you screenshot the text as an image it identifies the text and then you can highlight it and have it read to you. I just wish they can allow us to highlight and or copy what the people text to you so that people like myself can have it be read to them.

While Archer is a great exciting new app and a new refreshing approach to dating and its largely free and offers more than the other apps, it is unfortunately. Its well just exciting. But the excitement will wear off and it will be just another dating app by a company that the business model is to get people to stay. Its like the credit card companies that thrive when people are in debt, we pay interest and we never get out of the debt. Same with these dating apps, they love when you keep matching limitlessly because, well the grass is always greener right?Its just like the big other gay dating apps we already know and expect. We put our photos on it, we scroll through endless numbers of guys, message them no response, or messages from guys that are not a match. Its really just endless. None of these datings apps actually are designed to force people into relationship. Traditional romance prospects in the LGBT community in America's big cities have completely eroded and these apps building the community's superficiality. So while it is an excellent dating app, it unfortunately just facilitates the issues surrounding LGBT men superficially objectifying one another in the community. I know, because I've done it too. Why? Because of the apps and the resulting culture.

I think Archer is a great app if you are looking to date, a hook up, or friends. It is way better than Grindr for sure. What I don’t like about it is someone can still DM you even though you both didn’t like each other. I feel like the only time you should be able to DM each other is if both parties say yes and match. I feel like it can lead to disappointment to the other party. Also, you should be able to change your profile setting where other accounts can view you within your distance. For example, if I set my distance to 60 miles. Then only the accounts within 60 mile radius can actually view my profile and like it or view it. No offense if someone likes me or messages me who is hundreds or a thousand miles away why would I want to date or hookup with someone that far away. Is Archer going to pay for the trip? It just doesn’t seem logical. Lol. Sorry for being extra. Don’t get me wrong, I think it is great that Archer requires a face picture and you are not just talking to a blank profile or a picture of half a person.

Been using the app for a while and since the distance filter is now free I’ve been using it but I’ve noticed that it’ll only show maybe 2-3 local guys and then after that is jumps to guys 50+ miles away. I live in a major city and find it hard to believe there aren’t that many users in it. This also happens if I have any preference filter on it, it doesn’t show any matches at all it says come back later because there aren’t any nearby and it’s very frustrating that I can only chat with guys who are close to if not over hundreds of miles away not sure if it’s a glitch or just the app itself isn’t working properly but overall I hardly ever match with anyone nearby. Most are 30+ miles away.Update: I genuinely thought they couldn’t make the app worse but boy was I wrong. They got rid of the Grid, somehow it seems for everyone, myself included, there are no potential matches nearby within a 0-100mi radius only people beyond that which is exactly what I keep getting the prompt that there aren’t any people nearby. I live in one of the biggest major cities in the country and somehow there is no one nearby? It also goes without saying that the app crashes and glitches a lot and writing this review is pointless because they only respond to positive reviews about the app.
