Master synthesis and start bringing the sounds you hear to life
Syntorial is a synthesizer training app, that will teach you how to program synth patches by ear. By combining video demonstrations with interactive challenges, you’ll get hands on experience programming patches on a built-in soft synth, and learn everything you need to know to start making your own sounds with ease.

“The best training in synth sound-design we’ve come across. A unique and fun way to train your ears in re-creating synth sounds.” - MusicTech Magazine
* Electronic Musician Editor's Choice 2014 *
HIGHLIGHTS
• Interactive Learning: Syntorial doesn’t just show you how synth programming works. It engages you in Interactive Challenges in which you program patches on a built-in synth. You aren’t just learning how to design sound, you are becoming a sound designer.
• For Musicians, Not Physicists: Instead of talking about the science and physics behind synthesizers, Syntorial will show you how each control effects sound, as well as when, why and how you would use them when designing sounds. This is information that you can immediately apply to real-life situations.
• It's All About The Ear: One step at a time, Syntorial trains your ear to recognize how each control shapes and manipulates sound. By the end of the program you’ll be able to take the sounds you hear and re-create them, completely by ear.

Syntorial: A New Way To Learn Synthesis
Get it if you have even the slightest interest in synthesizers
liminim.
I had wanted to learn synthesis my entire life, but could never organize all of the basic level topics in a way that made sense to me. Syntorial figures it out… starting with more abstract lessons like “What is a synthesizer?” And dissecting the idea piece by piece and learning the parts that make up one (what is an oscillator? How do you modulate one?) It only took me a few lessons before I had my eureka moment: All you really need to learn to use are oscillators, filters, envelopes, and amplifiers, and you will have the skills to teach yourself just about any standard east coast synth there is. It turns out that all of these terms just look a little scary. Have confidence in yourself and try to visualize the actual waveform as you hack and slice it into a patch. You are only a few lessons away from starting yourself on one of the most fulfilling hobbies I have ever had.Also recommend checking out Building Blocks from the same company. It is currently only browser-based, but it will take you into actually writing chords, melodies, and beats… and no music theory knowledge is required! Just like with Syntorial, they find a way to explain those elusive topics in a way somehow no other music teacher has been able to. It’s also a plus that the lessons model most DAW interfaces. Keep it up Audible Genius… reform music education and maybe more people will have the chance to experience how incredible music can be.

Plongitudes
The first version of Syntorial was already great, but v2 has knocked it out of the park. Approachable lessons, an excellent UI, and overall good UX. I've dabbled with synthesizers for years, but have only osmosed things through trial and error. I like to learn on my own, but Syntorial has given me the leg up I needed to really start to understand how to make the sounds I imagine in my head, and has given me the tools to keep learning even after I complete the voluminous coursework in the app. Add in the "recreate famous synth sounds" material that was released recently, and you've got more learning than you can shake a Otamatone™ at! The team clearly have a desire to educate at their core, and it shows through every aspect of the app. I'm grateful that they've continued to improve and support this software.
Great Student Experience

The lessons I took so far on Syntorial have directly helped me to understand how my MicroFreak and DAW synths work. I typically follow up a Syntorial challenge on my own synth as well as the software synths. Everything is well thought out and concise. Immediate feedback on tests and challenges.I had a few hiccups installing everything but customer service was responsive. Great company. Great product. Great support.
Best way to learn synth!

I’ve tried (and failed) several other approaches to learn synth - this is the best method I’ve come across. The guy has the heart of a teacher and presents concepts in an easy-to-learn way, with video tutorials, demonstrations, and challenges that test knowledge. The app is everything it needs to be for this material. Cannot recommend highly enough!
