Health system today faces different threats which affect the quality of care given to the patients. Among these problems are long waits in emergency departments of hospitals, easy access to care centers, physician burnout and overcrowding in care centers. Some health complains do not warrant visit to health centers or emergency rooms. Because such issues are still presented to the ER, they take away time from those cases that needs immediate attention in the ER. Physicians and other health personnel also get exhausted attending to such unwarranted cases while they can save their energy for cases that need attention in the ER.
AkanDoc is an innovative medical mobile application designed to improve healthcare access and patient outcomes by connecting medical providers directly with patients. The app allows healthcare professionals to provide in-person and hands-on care, offer treatment recommendations, and write prescriptions for medications. AkanDoc goal is to offer a fully integrated digital healthcare solution, one that allows patients to easily receive care and prescriptions from qualified providers at the comfort of their homes. The providers can comprise of your next door neighbor who is available to receive request at any given time.
There are two distinct types of providers that AkanDoc offers. There are the Level 1 providers (Prescribing eligible providers) and Level 2 providers (non-prescribing providers). While level 1 providers are the licensed providers, Level 2 providers comprise of health care personnels that have completed their respective board exams and have gained experience in clinical skills with patients. Every level 2 providers will see users/patients under the supervision of the level 1 provider.
Lifestyle section of AkanDoc aims to tap into the holistic care of all users. AkanDoc aims to simplify activities of daily living and up-keeps such as Hairdressing/Haircut, Waxing, Nail services, Chemical peels, Make-up services, Eyelash/Eyebrows services, Microdermabrasion amongst others. AkanDoc app is designed to facilitate provision of these services at the comfort of user’s homes.
