Designed with a sleek and immersive galactic-themed UI, this app brings the wonders of interstellar communication to your fingertips.
Powerful Translation Tools:
Datapad features a robust translator that converts text between English and various galactic scripts. With support for six Aurebesh fonts (Standard, Core, Cantina, Nexus, Droid, Pixel), two versions of Mando’a (Old and New), and six Outer Rim scripts, you’ll uncover hidden meanings, translate secret messages, and explore the depths of interstellar lore. Digraph rendering is supported across all Aurebesh fonts for accurate transcription of combinations like “ch,” “ae,” and “th.”
Alphabet Viewer:
Master the galaxy’s scripts with Datapad’s detailed alphabet viewer. Explore each letter’s name, its English equivalent, and more. From Aurebesh to the warrior-like Mando’a and versatile Outer Rim alphabets, Datapad makes learning these iconic writing systems engaging and accessible.
Aurebesh Keyboard Integration:
Datapad includes a visual-only Aurebesh keyboard for stylistic use within the app. It adapts based on your selected mode, but due to iOS restrictions, it does not output Aurebesh outside the app.
Share Your Galactic Discoveries:
Share your translations in Aurebesh, Mando’a, or Outer Rim scripts with friends, fellow enthusiasts, or across social media. Whether you're decoding ancient text or crafting custom messages, Datapad makes it easy to connect and share.
Archives & Trials Modules:
Access your full translation history with the Archives module, which automatically saves and organizes past entries. The Trials module helps you master galactic scripts through customizable quizzes and challenges.
Hidden Crystals Adventure:
Discover two hidden crystals scattered within the app. Solve clues, explore every corner, and unlock these mystical treasures as part of your journey.
Custom Galactic Animations:
A dynamic animated starfield background brings your interface to life. Fully customizable in the System module, or turn it off for a distraction-free experience.
Full Script Immersion Mode:
Replace nearly every label and interface element with Aurebesh or your selected galactic script. Perfect for immersive learning and in-universe use. Customizable in the System module.
Customize Your Experience:
Personalize Datapad with themes, text sizing, font choices, animation controls, and layout preferences. Create your own unique galactic interface.
Apple Watch Integration:

My story begins on reddit (jumpscare) and I had made all sorts of posts on the r/Aurebesh Reddit, making a series of posts between me and a different user where the story was of me being this other user’s commander and leading them to try Dr. pepper strawberries and cream, and eventually they got lost, ending the story on a terrible note. I was sad, having lost motivation I stopped doing aurebesh posts for a long time. Then I came across a post made by a Redditor (I forgot what it was) and we ended up chatting, he told me about the app he was making, and it was this app. I HAD MET TEH CREATOR OF THIS APP. I was star struck for someone who hadn’t become a celebrity yet. I tried this app in its early days and it’s been an amazing journey seeing how it’s improved since.. This app is so cool and it’s so awesome how professional it looks now!!
Developer Response
Hello there Mr. Botmim,Thank you so much for the kind words and the awesome review. I genuinely loved reading it; it warmed my heart! It means the world to me to hear from someone who's been around since the early days of the app back in June 2023!It’s amazing to know you’ve stuck with the app through its growth. Your support and feedback have helped shape what it is today. As Master Yoda might say, “Truly wonderful, the mind of a Star Wars fan is.”If you ever have suggestions, questions, or just want to talk about Star Wars or Aurebesh again, feel free to reach out anytime at ammelmallah@icloud.com.Warm regards,Abubakr Elmallah
Amazing App
AhsokaAtHeart
This app is so amazing, I wanted to learn Aurebesh, and I was just gonna teach myself by looking at pictures of the alphabet and then I thought maybe there might be an app for this, I think it is so helpful. I’ve already learned so much. I love the extra languages past Aurebesh. I love the keyboard theme, but I do hope someday in the future it will be able to to have the output in Aurebesh, as well as already having the input in Aurebesh.Overall, it’s an amazing app and I’ve enjoyed it so much
Developer Response
Hello there, AhsokaAtHeart,Wow! Thank you so, so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful review. It honestly made my day. I’m so happy to hear the app has helped you on your journey to learn Aurebesh! I poured a lot of love into building it for Star Wars fans like you, and hearing that you’ve already learned so much from it is the greatest reward I could ask for.I really appreciate you mentioning the idea of having full Aurebesh output and input. Just to clarify, Aurebesh (and other scripts) in the app is technically just an English font style (underneath it’s still regular English letters), and unfortunately, iOS doesn’t support using custom fonts across apps. Because of that, the system reverts the text back to normal English for consistency and security reasons. It’s definitely something I wish I could enable if Apple ever changes their font handling system! Also, I wanted to let you know I’m hoping to add a test/exam feature soon! It’ll help users (such as myself!) quiz themselves on the letters and memorize the alphabet more easily, especially for amazing learners like you who are self-teaching with so much passion. I think you’ll really enjoy it!Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. It means so much. If you ever have any ideas or questions, please feel free to reach out to me at ammelmallah@icloud.com, I’d love to hear from you!Warm regards,Abubakr Elmallah
Exactly what I was looking for!
Shenxiou
It’s incredibly hard to find anything that can immerse you in the universe and even though it’s one of the minute things, making the application feel like it’s a part of the Star Wars galaxy for anyone to access is nothing short of amazing. Great work my friend!
Developer Response
Thank you so much for the review! I’m glad you enjoyed the app! As a fellow Star Wars fan, nay Star Wars nerd, capturing the feeling of a Star Wars Datapad was the most important part of creating this app!If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me at ammelmallah@icloud.com!
Where is the Mandaloa!?
RyukyuRaptor
I loved this app and have had it for about a year but the Mandalorian is now missing! I had it set to my widgets and just noticed my Mando alphabet is now just English translating to English I like the other Star Wars languages but as a member of the MMCC I used this so much for the club and charity! Replace with cantina to. More Star Wars languages are great but don’t remove what is already there. I hope you guys bring back the Mando language soon if you can, I get it if you have legal restrictions but that was really why I downloaded this app in the first place.
Developer Response
Edit: Sorry for the late response RyukyuRaptor, but Apple took a while to approve the app. Not only did I readd Mando’a, but I made it better and not cut off. Plus I added two new alphabets! I hope you can reconsider your review now, and thank you for the suggestion and your patience! If you have any more questions, feedback, suggestions, or concerns, don’t hesitate to email me at ammelmallah@icloud.com.Thank you so much for your review and thoughtful feedback, RyukyuRaptor. I completely understand your concern about the removal of Mando'a and how it impacts your experience especially for your charity work. The decision to remove Mando'a was indeed made due to the reasons you mentioned, as well as an issue with the font files themselves being bugged and getting cut off from the top. However, hearing how important this feature is to you and potentially others motivates me to re-evaluate it. I’ll do my best to bring Mando'a back and am hopeful it can be reintroduced by next Tuesday. Please keep an eye out for updates!Thank you for your support and patience, and for sharing how this app has been meaningful to you. As a solo developer, it truly means a lot to hear your feedback. Wishing you all the best in your charity work and with the MMCC!Warm regards,Abubakr Elmallah
