I’m floored by this app right now. Michael and team have created an incredible base to build off of and you can tell by their philosophy that this is heading in the right direction. A direction focused on photography and community. As a photographer with multiple interests I’m excited for the upcoming paid portfolio feature so I can organize my wedding and nature photography on one page without having to create multiple accounts. I’m happy to pay for features like this. Those who don’t need such features can still enjoy the app freely and post without trouble. I think this will be a sustainable method to monetize without having to add ads and such. Meta has folks paying just so your posts can get engagement. Being seen should be standard, not a feature. With every other post on IG being an ad or some rage bait, I’m more than happy to spend my time on the Foto App. Fingers crossed that one day I can delete IG without hesitation. Here’s to finding a new home for photography!

The Future of Media Sharing

Really enjoy this app so far. I don’t see it as a replacement for any other app but rather its own unique opportunity for sharing photography and art. I look forward to seeing what additional features will be added in the future but for now I very much like the feel and functionality. The prioritizing of still photos with no option for video is absolutely a positive thing and resolution to what is one of mine and many others main complaints about other media sharing apps. This is excellent for those that want to view and support inspiring photography. The overall design is simple and presents work in a way that is easy to view and connect with. I rarely download new apps but I’ve been waiting for this one and I’m not disappointed. I have no doubt that with the continued development and expanding user base, this will be a very successful and appreciated application.

I’ve been cutting out social media apps that no longer align with my politics or mental health needs, so I approached Foto with a fair amount of skepticism—despite the glowing reviews and articles I’d seen.So far, though, it’s been a genuinely pleasant surprise. An app dedicated just to still photography? No auto-playing videos, no overly animated fonts screaming for attention, no algorithm trying to sell me a lifestyle I didn’t ask for—just beautiful images from serious photographers and passionate hobbyists. It feels refreshingly old-school in the best way possible: a space where the art of photography is the focus, not trends, engagement hacks, or influencer posturing.There’s something calming about scrolling through thoughtfully composed images without being told what to buy, think, or aspire to. If you miss the days when photography platforms were actually about photography, Foto might just be worth a look.

The small team behind FOTO has done a wonderful job building this app. And future improvements are being discussed, scheduled and released on a regular basis.
