Glucose Guide is a nonprofit diabetes nutrition and self-management app designed to help people make more confident food and blood sugar decisions every day.
Living with diabetes means making dozens of choices daily: what to eat, how to balance a meal, how to understand a glucose reading, what to buy at the grocery store, and how to build habits that feel realistic instead of overwhelming. Glucose Guide brings food logging, glucose tracking, meal planning, grocery tools, coaching-informed insights and community support into one accessible platform.
The app helps users connect what they eat with how they feel and what happens in their blood sugar, making diabetes care feel less confusing and more actionable.
Key features include:
Food journaling and nutrition tracking
Users can log meals, snacks and drinks using plain text food search, barcode scanning, quick logging, voice logging and photo-based meal analysis. Glucose Guide helps users better understand carbohydrates, protein, fat, fiber, sugar, sodium and other nutrients that can affect blood sugar patterns.
Glucose and health tracking
Users can log blood sugar readings and view trends over time. The app supports tracking for glucose, medication, insulin, activity, mood, energy and sleep, helping users see how daily habits may connect to their diabetes management.
Meal planning and grocery support
Glucose Guide includes weekly curated menus, custom meal planning, recipe analysis and automated grocery lists. Users can plan blood-sugar-supportive meals, generate shopping lists and better understand what is already in their pantry.
Personalized nutrition insights
The app provides coaching-informed feedback to help users interpret their logs and take practical next steps. Features like smart swaps, spike risk analysis, daily summaries and weekly insights help users move from simply tracking data to understanding what that data may mean.
Recipe and plate analysis
Users can analyze recipes, paste ingredients, scan foods or take a photo of a plate to better understand nutrition information and how a meal may fit into their diabetes goals.
Community and habit support
Glucose Guide includes access to a free, private community where users can connect with others, share experiences and participate in challenges. Habit paths, milestones and badges support consistency without shame or all-or-nothing thinking.
Food access resources
The app includes tools to help users find food assistance resources such as food banks, WIC centers and SNAP-friendly stores, supporting the belief that diabetes nutrition support should be practical, accessible and rooted in real life.
Expert-informed guidance
Glucose Guide was created by Mila Clarke, a diabetes advocate, nutrition professional, board-certified health and wellness coach and person living with autoimmune diabetes. The app is built around shame-free, evidence-informed support that respects the lived experience of managing diabetes.
Who Glucose Guide is for:
Glucose Guide is designed for people living with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, LADA, prediabetes, insulin resistance and caregivers supporting someone with diabetes. It is especially helpful for people who want practical nutrition support, better food awareness, more confidence with meal planning and a supportive place to understand blood sugar patterns.
What makes Glucose Guide different:
Glucose Guide is not just a calorie counter, carb tracker or meal planner. It is a free diabetes-focused food and blood sugar companion built to help users understand the connection between meals, habits and glucose trends. As a nonprofit app, Glucose Guide is focused on expanding access to diabetes nutrition education, community and self-management tools.
Our goal is simple: help people feel less alone, less overwhelmed and more equipped to manage diabetes one realistic step at a time.
This app has been so helpful to me in my diabetes journey! I appreciate that it has a free option that actually allows you to access most of the features and that the paid option allows you to donate what you can afford monthly to access additional features. I’ve really enjoyed the community channels and updated event and article tabs! Thank you GG for providing real accessible community and support!

This is the app for low-cost high quality information about all aspects of the diabetes life. Great support for all the types of diabetes with recipes, connections to your peers and daily inspiration to keep going on your journey from Mila “the Hangry Woman” who has diabetes herself and has been there, done that. Great support system if you are feeling burnout and need ideas to get you through.

This is one of the best diabetes management apps I’ve ever used, built by someone who actually gets it and understands what the community needs most. Mila Clarke made this and she is not only smart about nutrition but a passionate advocate for people with diabetes. That’s reflected in how this app operates!
