The North Carolina Zoo is becoming more accessible and bringing the Zoo experience to even more audiences through our app.
Have you ever wanted to learn just a little bit more about the North Carolina Zoo? The Zoo’s app is for you! Need a map? The app has one (the Zoo has stopped handing out paper maps as part of our green initiatives). Looking for Spanish content? It’s here on the app. Want to discover more about jobs at the Zoo? Download the app and see what it’s like to be a zookeeper, vet, and more. Are you a teacher looking for grade-appropriate activities aligned with State standards? Learning happens here through state aligned K-12 activities for students.
The app focuses on four areas to enhance your guest experience. You can take advantage of them all in one visit or spread them out over several journeys to the Zoo. The included map tracks your location so you can better navigate the Zoo’s 500 acres. Choose your own adventure from the following or do them all! Each of the four areas are also in Spanish.
• Virtual tours bring the Zoo to life in a new way and share some information about the animals we care for
• Interactive activities let you experience five STEM-centered zoo careers (zookeeper, veterinarian, conservation biologist, and more).
• Curriculum-based lessons for K-12 students
• Audio-description tours are designed to enhance the overall experience of the Zoo for individuals who are blind or have low vision.
Although the activities are designed to enrich your Zoo visit, the virtual and audio tours can also help you plan your next visit. Download the app before arriving so your adventure can start right away!
