WELCOME TO THE CITY
[After the fall of civilisation, the City is the only thing still standing.]
[Outpost Alcyone : the Nihility spread across the universe at close to the speed of light, unmaking & twisting everything it encountered. We had enough warning to protect ourselves as we saw the distant stars flicker out one by one. Alcyone's old name was forgotten and became simply the City.]
INTERACTIVE SCI-FI NOVEL
"Alcyone: The Last City" is an interactive sci-fi novel in which the player's choices heavily impact the overall narrative, opening or closing pathways through the story, and greatly affecting the end of the game. From the outset, players will have to weigh difficult options, all of which impact the game and provide different insights into the various organisations, Houses, diverse characters, and deep lore of the City. Players are encouraged to live with their decisions, even if the consequences are dire — there is no true failure in the City, only experience.
MULTIPLE PATHWAYS
At over a quarter of a million words in length, Alcyone: The Last City has an intricate narrative in which your decisions dramatically and meaningfully affect the story you experience. Explore over seven different endings, five mainline and two bonus romance storylines (including aromantic pathways), plus thousands of choices that make each and every playthrough a uniquely rewarding experience.
RPG CHARACTER SYSTEM
Will you be a force for destruction, or will your decisions aid the existing powers that be? "Alcyone: The Last City" offers a multitude of choices to forge your path inspired by a RPG character system where attributes such as Body, Vigour, Mind, and Charm affect your engagement with the story.
The game starts with your character waking in the Rebirthing Facility upon being brought to life. There, you will craft your persona by selecting attributes such as your gender identity, status, whether or not you had a significant other in your previous life, and even the manner in which you might have died — all of which contribute to a uniquely customised experience that has long-lasting effects on the story and how you can interact with it.
SLICK, ENGAGING PRESENTATION
"Alcyone: The Last City" complements its complex narrative with a clean and aesthetically pleasing user interface, gorgeous high-resolution, hand-drawn digital artwork, and a full-length soundtrack to underscore the depth and emotion of each choice within your story.
ALL THINGS END
[Shielded and walled away from the decimation and destruction of the void outside, inhabitants have lived for centuries with the serenity provided by the City's protection. Governed under the benevolence of the Six Ruling Houses, humanity continues to demonstrate its tenacity in surviving and adapting to whatever fate befalls it. Normal life continues — after a fashion. We persist.
But the Six are lying to us.
And the Nihility is more than we've been told.
And there's a way out of the City.]

• 82.170626 release.
• Updated Unity to Unity 6.3 (6000.3.17f1).
• On iOS, iPadOS, and Android there's a new gesture-based system available when TTS is turned on — swipe up, down, left, and right to move the focus the same way that keyboard and controllers work, tap once to "click" and tap with two fingers to go back. This provides playable gesture support for those on mobile devices who use TTS, and if TTS is turned off then the gesture system isn't enabled. You do need to disable VoiceOver or equivalent, unfortunately, to use it as Unity doesn't pass these gestures on to the mobile OS, but it should make the game functional for those gamers with vision considerations and brings the game on-par with desktop platforms in terms of accessibility.
• The above should not affect gamers on desktop platforms or affect keyboard and controller functionality, but I did have to decouple some things so there's a chance that bugs have slipped in. Get in touch if you encounter any problems.
