Got a tree going mad this winter? List your surplus in under a minute. Someone nearby is already searching for exactly what you've got.
uForage is a free community food map. It shows you what's growing near you right now: roadside stalls, backyard fruit trees with too much fruit, small growers, honey, eggs, and wild food you walk past every day without seeing.
Search for what you actually want. Eggs, lemons, herbs, honey. Results are sorted by what's closest to you, with directions to get there.
Got more than you can eat? List your surplus in under a minute. Someone nearby is already looking for it, and your excess goes to a neighbour instead of the compost.
Not sure what something is? Point your camera. uForage uses image recognition plus a community of real people to help identify wild and backyard food, with safety and spray warnings on listings.
Foraging worldwide. uForage connects to a global database of more than 1.6 million wild food locations, so the map works whether you're in the Northern Rivers or northern Italy. Detail on non-Australian wild food listings requires a subscription.
Why we built it
Food should be accessible to everyone regardless of income. Community food networks are more resilient than supply chains, and we learned that the hard way during the 2022 Northern Rivers floods, when the roads were cut and the shelves were empty and the people who were okay were the ones who knew their local growers.
uForage is free to use, built by two people in Murwillumbah, and mapped by the community that uses it.

I seem to be the only person in Berlin ever to use this app which is both annoying and fun. I’m like a pioneer discovering and documenting all of the fruit of the Berlin wilderness. That’s a pretty big task but I’m up to the challenge. A few things in the app are clunky. 4 pictures is a bit annoying but whatever I guess. The point is obviously to auto identify the plant which is very cool. One thing is that the list function doesn’t seem to work. That could definitely be fixed. Also there is quite a lag when clicking on a plant on the map at times. Could add a few more categories to the thing. Like nuts or berries and have veggies separate from fruit. Ornamental plants in a separate section. Also sometimes the app freezes. I’m surprised it doesn’t have more users though. Overall is really good and has a nice clean and aesthetic UI. But it’s a bit slowwww like speed it up a little if possible. I just dropped a few stars because the plants that I found do not display properly on the in app map. It shows them very far away from the actual location but when you route to it it’s fine.
Privacy and glitches

This is a great idea. But .,,A)It asks for too much non optional personal data like address and birth month and gender. B) gets geolocation slightly wrong and doesn't allow moving it, so people probably won't find the tree I contributed C) would be nice if it integrated with a plant identification program.
Great idea

Great idea and clean layout but I can’t scroll around the map to a wider view so I can catch good finds on a road trip and so far none in my area
Two things behind the scenes, and a smaller ask for support.
PERMISSIONS
• The camera and location prompts now always show Apple's own permission
dialog first. Previously, in a couple of edge cases, tapping the button
could send you to Settings before you had been asked at all.
• If you have already said no and iOS won't ask again, the button now says
"Open Settings" rather than pre-guessing your answer.
ASKING FOR SUPPORT
• uForage still occasionally asks whether you're able to support the app.
It no longer appears the moment you open the app — it waits until you've
actually found or viewed something, then asks when you're back on the map.
• It won't ask more than once every couple of weeks, and never if you're
already supporting us.
WELCOME VIDEO
• The video on the welcome screen has been replaced.
