Say hello to MediBang Paletta.
i’ve been a long time medibang user and i was so pumped to see that they were making a new app! (i preordered it at lightning speed) its actually pretty good for what its worth. im writing this the day they release it so it’s not perfect.. a few bugs and its a bit laggy but still pretty decent. the only thing i personally have a grudge against is that they weren’t very original with the layout of the app.. first few seconds into it and i realized it looked A LOT like that big popular drawing app… same thing with brushes, gestures, etc. i understand why they made it look similar to that other app..but there’s hardly any originality and sort of jumped on the bandwagon. again- ive used medibang ever since i was a teen and i like medibang pro so far, but personally i was kind of disappointed that they sort of sold themselves out.
Easy to explore

I’ve never heard of Mediabang but for some reason it popped up when I searched for the excellent camera app Hydra. I’m not sure I want to learn another drawing app but this has a big thing going for it- a recognizable user interface (UI). I’ve been re-trying photo editing apps lately so I can clean out the garbage and, I gotta say, some of the UIs I reencountered were absurd. I’ve used all of them before so I shouldn’t have been struggling but sometimes doing what everyone else is doing is a good thing. Why labor over reinventing something just because you can, especially when the point is to just look diffferent?Don’t think lousy UIs is just a drawing and editing problem- I’ve been struggling for over a year to find a workable notes app. I love the native Apple notes with a very simple, straightforward, and clean look but it’s been crashing whenever I try to retrieve anything from my notes. There are dozens, if not hundreds of notes apps available and so many have their own charming look that then fails utterly in practice.
Why the usage notification???
Adamai267
I don’t get why there’s a usage thing on this app. It doesn’t make any sense for a drawing up to even have it and it’s kind of stupid to be honest. The fact of the drawing app is so you can draw at least four hours no I would understand if there was some explanation which I’ve checked and there is no explanation to it. It’s just there so it’s a stupid reason to be therethough the app is very much way better than the other one. I do like this one very much it’s a lot smoother and it’s better to dry in, but I want to know why is there a usage notification on a drawing app? 🤦🏻♀️🧐 who ever in your dev team added or had that idea , needs to reevaluate their minds because that usage notification thing is so stupid like .why??
Missing Features from Medibang Paint
MissRieBread
I do like the feel this is going for and it’s a step up from the previous application, I LOVE the brush grouping because in regular Medibang Paint, it’s a cluttered mess and hard to find brushes you’re looking for. However, the main things preventing me from moving over entirely to this software, is the fact there’s no way to add your own custom brushes or materials. That is one of my favorite things about Medibang, and I’m shocked to see those features are nonexistent in this version. It doesn’t make sense to me to take away rather crucial tools. If you decide to add them to this program in the future, I’m likely to switch over from regular Medibang Paint.
- Added font favorites and history features.
- Expanded the size of the + and - buttons on the brush size and transparency bars.
- Unified the color of text in the options panel.
- Fixed a bug that allowed text editing while creating panel layouts.
- Fixed a bug that caused the color slider tab to not display when the language setting was English and the iPhone was in landscape mode.
