This change in anticipation of scheduling capabilities to come, as the concept of queuing is more closely associated in this context. So, moving forward, anything not scheduled but drafted will be highlighted as a draft, and once scheduling comes into play, queued will indicated something that has been scheduled to be auto-posted later. **Fixes** - A thread that has had its replies forked will be elegantly merged when possible with no user input required. - Editing drafts for a thread on a right-click should work again (was showing it as empty sometimes). - The context menu for a thread on the Posts feed won’t incorrectly show a thread as having drafts to edit when there are actually none. - Any published post with drafts should always show in the Drafts screen in the Replies section. - If there’s no spoiler text, spoiler warning will not incorrectly show. - Should not see a post duplicated in the Drafts screen’s replies when it’s a draft for a thread that’s only had a single post.

**Improvements** - Search will now work even when you don’t have it turned on for your server. This is building on the performance improvements introduced in a recent update to help with better start-up times. Search will prioritise looking through your posts locally, and make server calls as a secondary means to retrieve matches. In order to extend search’s reach, scroll as far back in time in your Posts screen. This will cache all posts that have been loaded for better performance and deeper search. In a future update, I’ll make changes so you don’t need to do this yourself to get optimal search results. - As a result of the above, search should be faster to execute. Additionally, its able to return results from further back in time too because it leverages the server for posts older than those that have been cached. **Fixes** - Discarding a draft reply to a published thread will actually delete it (and not just give the initial impression). - Doing a search should never show results from a previous search. - When you [Cancel] a search, you shouldn’t see ”No matches found” flash quickly. - Cursor position shouldn’t unexpectedly ever jump to the end of text on a [return]. - Viewing a thread’s drafts should always display them in full (and not ever see them momentarily truncated before becoming visible in full).

If you start typing after the hashtag, it will filter suggestions based on the characters you’ve input. - The best part is the hashtags you’ve set on your current draft post will be carried to your next reply addition. Additionally, if this is a new reply to a previously published post, the hashtags from the thread’s last post will be copied across. - When starting a new thread, if you type "1/any letter" in the first post, then subsequent posts will end in a similar format (showing the post’s position and the length of the entire thread). As you add more replies, all previous posts will update to show the correct thread length. Finally, if you move posts around, or delete any, this information will update to reflect the correct positions for each post and thread length. - You can now long press to delete published posts when viewing a thread. - (iOS) The composer now has two bars: 1) the top has thread related controls, and 2) the bottom has post related metadata additions. - The top toolbar has had its language/visibility options moved to the thread bar. - The buttons on the thread bar for position (”x/n”) and the adjacent […] have had their options split to distinguish their roles. Each has relevant metadata added corresponding to char and word count. **Improvements** - App should feel more responsive after optimising three areas of code that had the biggest memory footprint. - More contrast between posts in dark mode. - Search suggestions for a username mention will consider their display name too (not just handle). - Made the username handle in composer’s @ suggestions list condensed to allow for more people to appear at a time. Also slightly reduced vertical spacing between name and handle to make for a more compact presentation. - (iOS) When you go over a post’s character limit, the overflow amount is now visible on the post position menu on the thread bar. This way it doesn’t obstruct any text. - As a result, the option to split a post into multiple is now a permanently visible one in this menu. It’s only enabled when required though. - (iOS) Slightly increased leading padding on posts to make them easier to read. - (iOS) Options in the […] menu on composer’s toolbar are now sectioned to more clearly explain what each covers (and in anticipation of additional options to come in a near future update). - (iOS) No unnecessary divider after last @ suggestion in bar. - (iOS) Tab bar shadow reduced to be most subtle, more noticeable when in dark mode. - (iOS) Bigger tap targets for [previous][next] chevrons on composer toolbar. **Fixes** - Splitting a post into multiple due to a character overflow should work! - Adding mentions should much, much less likely jump the cursor to the wrong position. Also, it should consistently add a space after the username too so you don’t need to. It’s the little things. - Your username won’t show up when you @ in the composer. - Toolbar in composer resets state if you manually type in someone’s username after initially tapping on its @ symbol (previously it would only reset if the username was tapped from the suggested list). - Username suggestions from the last search shouldn’t appear momentarily when mentioning someone new. - When discarding a draft reply, composer’s state should be accurate, i.e. we change to the previous post (if any). - Should never show post 0/n when you discard the first draft in a reply chain. - (iOS) Leading padding for draft posts consistent with published. - (iOS) If you add a draft reply and then move to a previous post in the composer, closing it should show the new draft on the list. - (iOS) When you hit the character limit in the composer, the bar should fill the entire width of the screen (and not leave a slight trailing whitespace gap).

# Improvements - More compact toolbar in composer. - Added a […] button so it’s more clear from where you can discard a reply or re-order posts. - The re-order post screen has a number of improvements: - Instruction text indicating a drag moves post, whereas a tap selects it. - Bigger text indicating thread reading time. - Can see number of posts in thread. - [Publish] button doesn’t change size when you add a post, because it defaults to ”Publish (0)” (disabled) and then the zero changes to one when you type a character into the first post. - There’s a subtle divider after the buttons on the left of the [Publish] button to reduce possibility of an accidental tap leading to an undesired publish. - When you have overrun the character limit during composition, the button should be more clear (and not interfere with text selection). # Fixes - No double avatar on iPad. - Should now be able to interact with the last line of text when it’s at the bottom of the scrollview. - When you hit the [+] on the re-order posts screen when composing, it will work correctly. - Won’t read ”1 words” when you have only one word in a post in the composer. - Fixed privacy policy and terms of use links.

**New** - When you @ in the composer, you’ll get suggestions from your following list as soon as you type 1 or more letters after it. In time, will get this expand this to suggest users beyond your followers list. **Improvements** - Changed the icons used to indicate visibility for increased clarity (hopefully!): A globe signifies public and discovered, an eye for unlisted, a slashed eye for private and lock for DM. - Switching between tabs should feel more snappy (removed unnecessary fade). - No superfluous visual marker on pinned posts when viewed in Pins tab. - Color of [x] on post sheet should be clear on both themes. **Fixes** - Should not (or much less likely — will need affected users to confirm) get into a hung state when publishing, particularly the case on phone previously. In general, the process of publishing should feel faster (because it technically is). - If you are adding a reply to a published thread, then it will inherit the visibility of the last published post in the thread. - [Link] menu icon should not appear before others in a thread’s toolbar.

#New - Direct messages are now possible (a 4th entry in the visibility menu). - Language selection is now supported too. On iOS, it will default to your keyboard’s language (and will dynamically update if you switch keyboard language after you start typing from it). On the Mac, it currently defaults to English, but I will look at making improvements in a future update so it either detects user’s system language and/or server’s. - Links to Tusks’ roadmap and changelog in the app (avatar) menu. #Improvements - Your server’s character limit is recognised now. - When replying to a published post, it will inherit the visibility and language of the last published reply or active draft (whichever is more recent). - mastodon.social is selected by default on the onboarding screen. - Better contrast of links and hashtags in posts on the light theme (was fine on dark) - Based on feedback (as well as the addition of language selector), the composer sheet’s top toolbar has been redesigned to surface [Save] as a secondary action. Previously you needed to [Cancel] to be able to save to drafts. This didn’t feel right — both in terms of time/steps taken to execute as well as conceptually — given the app’s emphasis. - Tweaks to onboarding screen’s layout so it should look better on older/smaller devices as well as devices when text size has been increased to quite large. - Tab bar background should have more contrast vs content area. - More button-y toolbar when on threads. #Fixed - Media attachments now show on posts (published and draft).
