This update makes Walkable more stable. We fixed several crashes, backup restore now picks the right copy of your map, and buildings no longer drop off the map after being recorded twice. The Motion & Fitness request now appears during setup with an explanation, not at launch.

More reliable walk recording in the background, including with your phone locked. Map and backup fixes.

Fixed walk recording when Motion access is denied or unavailable, compass positioning on the map, and missing friends’ progress after permission setup.

This update fixes flickering map controls, improves building colouring in some cities, fixes deleting and replacing gem photos, and improves onboarding translations and permission recovery.

Updated permission screens and clearer choices during setup. Browse the map after declining a permission and adjust access later in Settings. Fixed a rare crash when updating buildings on the map.

• Walkable now speaks German, Polish, French and Spanish — the whole app and its notifications, alongside English and Ukrainian • Landmarks colour in properly: cathedrals, palaces and other buildings that OpenStreetMap splits into parts now paint as one whole instead of staying half-grey • Steadier building discovery with lighter data use on long walks • Stability fixes under the hood

• Notifications, reworked: fewer and better-timed alerts that open right where the action is — your new gems, district progress, and this week's leaderboard • New: a friendly nudge after your first walk so you can see your freshly painted map • Friends: search now ignores letter case, and invite links work reliably end to end • Stability fixes under the hood

A big release in one update: fixed a rare crash that could stop the app from launching, repaired walk-history saving, and the free history window texts now always tell the truth about how many days you get. Mostly written by an AI: if something breaks, blame it; if it works, credit it. Happy walking!

A big under-the-hood release: all the disappearing-buildings fixes now live in one build, the mid-screen banner glitch is gone, and the map internals got a solid tidy-up. Most of this was written by an AI, so if anything breaks, blame it; if everything works, thank it. Happy walking!

More map fixes: the app now automatically fills in the outlines of your discovered buildings so they stay visible when you zoom out — and keeps doing it in the background. Thanks for reporting it.

Bug fixes: buildings that stubbornly refused to show up on the map now appear, and the subscription screen no longer pops up out of nowhere. If something's still off, blame the AI — I had nothing to do with it.

Buildings no longer vanish when you zoom out or go offline — your walk history is now stored on-device. Switching between cities is noticeably faster, plus a handful of stability fixes under the hood.

Big one: Walkable is moving to a free mode (rolling out over the next few days). • Walk and discover without a subscription — the map keeps your last 3 days of discoveries. • One simple plan: the yearly subscription keeps every building you've ever discovered. Forever. Full charts, all cities. • A new subscription screen, a friendly banner and day-chips that show exactly what stays and what fades. • Fixed the history window getting confused at midnight. It now respects calendars. As always: if something got better, that was me. If something broke, the AI did it.

This update is all about stability. This time Claude and Codex worked extra hard to give you fewer bugs. I really, really hope they didn't introduce any new ones. Let's get one thing straight: if something got better, that was clearly me. If something broke, it was entirely the AI's fault . Here's what we fixed: • Buildings appear more reliably — fewer of those annoying "disappearances". • Your progress is safer now: dual backups and smarter recovery, so nothing gets lost. • Fixed the bug where the app "forgot" you were already signed in. • The Gems screen works even when you've collected loads of them. • Plus a pile of small fixes and speed-ups. Go explore your city — and thanks for walking with us!

Bug fixes and stability improvements: • Fixed an issue where some users saw the login screen briefly after launch even though they were already signed in. • Resolved a rare path where signing in twice in a row could attempt to wipe local progress. • Improved building-discovery reliability when the OpenStreetMap server is slow. • Behind the scenes: the past few days I added Codex alongside Claude Code, and now the two of them argue about who's the better IT architect — fewer regressions like this one should follow.

This is the first release since Claude Code took over the app's development. We fixed a few bugs in this version, like buildings that just wouldn't colour in, and progress loss for some users. I hope we didn't break anything.
