Ami - The Spatial Network

I don't think we lost human connection.
I think we built systems that suppress it.
The most valuable thing in the world is still the same as it’s always been: people meeting people.
That’s where everything comes from - ideas, relationships, opportunities, meaning.
But look at what we use every day.
Feeds. Metrics. Passive consumption.
We’ve engineered a world where connection is secondary to attention.
That’s backwards.
So we started building something different.
Ami is based on a simple belief: the right people, in the right place, at the right time 0 that’s what changes your life.
When you’re in a room, traveling, in a park, at a restaurant, connections are everywhere.
You are far more connected to the people around you than you realize.
Social systems have solved every problem short of spatiality — the most important problem of all.
These system require your location, and you build your own spatial graph out to activate it.
Once you do, it feels like the world snaps into focus.
Real-world interaction.
Ami makes that more likely to happen. More often. More naturally. At scale.
It’s not about going backwards.
It’s about finally building technology that aligns with how life actually works.
This is Ami. Welcome to the spatial network.

Easily one of the most magical apps I’ve ever used! Even in invite-only Ami was the first in its category to ever work for me. in the last month I’ve met 4 people completely serendipitously! Can’t even begin to imagine how magic this will be when it’s available to everyoneCan’t recommend enough for people looking to make new connections in their city!

I know this is still just a preview, but this is the most mind blowing product I’ve ever used. It’s created serendipity for me multiple times already, and real life magic is so much more satisfying than anything I’ve ever experienced. Can’t wait for this to launch and get to the masses!!! Insane

This app makes a lot of sense and makes it easy connecting people together in real life.
This app makes a lot of sense and makes it easy connecting people together in real life.
- Smoother onboarding. Getting started is faster. You add your phone number first, you can skip steps you don't need, you can find friends without leaving setup, and anyone who already added you gets added back automatically.
- Relive your plans. Recaps now play right inside a plan's chat, from the pinned card, and from the end of a finished plan, and you can replay them anytime. Tap to move through the night, catch the people you just missed, and see what you already share with new faces.
- Live is now Activity. Same tab, clearer name.
- A cleaner map. Venues that sit close together now group into one spot, and cities collapse the same way, so it's easier to see where things are happening. Venue spots also look livelier.
- A simpler people view. The top of the map now shows just Friends and Amis, and the people sheet has a fresh design.
- Better battery life. Ami does less work in the background and uses GPS less when you're not looking at it.
- Easier friend search. Search by username or by name, with the words in any order.
- Join plans faster. If you're invited to a plan, you can skip the waitlist when you sign up.
- Polish and fixes. Sheets look cleaner, chat headers are steadier, plan details open before the chat, the "ask sent" message now shows where you can see it, and more.
0.1.34 2d ago
- Plan recaps: open a recap of a past plan to look back on who came.
- Smarter notifications: notifications about the same thing are grouped together, and you won't get "friend arrived" alerts for friends who are just at home or work.
- Refreshed look: the compass now sits under your profile picture, the expanded pill uses Liquid Glass, and friend photo stacks look the same across the app.
- Live Activity: Liquid Glass is back on the Lock Screen, and best friends are no longer counted twice.
- Smoother, lighter map: the map uses less battery while idle, and a friend you're following stays in place on screen when you pan.
- Fixes and polish
0.1.33 Oct 1
- A smarter map. Pan around and the map loads places for the new area by itself, with no search button to tap. The Places Nearby handle animates while it loads and tells you when an area is quiet. The controls are cleaner, and tapping your photo takes you back to where you are.
- Pull to refresh the feed. Pull down on the live feed to get the latest.
- Directions in one tap. Pick Apple Maps or Google Maps once and Ami remembers your choice. The distance chip now shows up on every place, however far away it is.
- Easier invites. People you've already invited now sit in their own section, so you won't invite anyone twice.
- Plans work better for new friends. If someone RSVPs before joining Ami, they're added to the plan chat and get their pass as soon as they sign up.
- Polish and fixes. Faster, smoother map and header animations. Profile photos load more reliably. Ami now matches your light or dark mode from the very first screen.
0.1.32 Sep 26
- Pull to refresh: pull down on the feed to load the latest.
- New map controls: the home map controls are redesigned, and the map updates itself more reliably.
- Light and dark mode fix: Ami now matches your phone's appearance setting from the moment it opens, so the screen no longer flashes the wrong theme.
- Plans wrap up on time: when a plan's check-in window closes, guests are checked out automatically.
- Bug fixes and performance improvements.
0.1.31 Sep 25
- Share any venue with a friend, with a live preview of how poppin it is
- Smarter suggestions for who to invite to a plan
- Gathering and event links now open exactly where they should
- A tighter, more readable feed
- Fixes for link detection in messages and the add-friends list
0.1.30 Sep 19
A lighter app, and plans that are easier to run.
MAKING A PLAN
Venue search now shows the street and city, so two places with the same name aren't a coin flip, and the spot you pick comes with a map before you commit.
RUNNING A PLAN
Hosts see a count of unanswered join requests right on the plan card, so nobody's ask sits there unnoticed. The request-to-join screen shows the plan itself, so guests know what they're asking about before they ask. And every "is going" line in a plan chat leads with that person's photo and opens their profile, with a rush of people joining folded into one line you can tap open.
SHARING A PLAN
Send a plan to someone who doesn't have Ami yet and the preview now shows the same details screen the app does, with RSVP right there in it.
RECAPS THAT WAIT FOR YOU
A night's recap stays on your feed for a week, watched or not, so you can go back and watch it again.
A LIGHTER, FASTER APP
Ami takes about 90MB less space on your phone, with nothing removed. Plan screens scroll without stutter, and invite and co-host lists open instantly instead of building every contact first.
FIXES AND POLISH
The keyboard no longer covers the add friends bar, opening a DM from someone's profile works again, and we say "Precise Location" when that's the part that's off rather than blaming location entirely. Turning down contacts during setup no longer hides the row for good if you change your mind. Plus a copy-link button on your QR screen, and fixes to the feed's loading state, the create screen, and a handful of things that clipped or flickered.
0.1.28 Sep 17
- Sharing a plan is simpler. Every plan you make is open to whoever has the link, so there's nothing to set before you send it.
- If you ask to join a plan from a link, you'll now see the moment the host lets you in. Close it and come back and you'll pick up right where you were, without asking twice.
0.1.27 Sep 9
Plans, opened up.
- Share a plan with a link. Anyone who has it can ask to join, and you approve or decline from one place.
- Friends without Ami can request to join right from the link, no install required.
- Plans now show the address on the detail card, so nobody has to ask where.
- Changed your mind? Leave, cancel or delete a plan from the plan itself.
- Tap a plan link and it opens straight in Ami.
Also in this release:
- Your friend's profile now shows the history you actually share.
- Follow a friend on the map and the map stays with them as they move.
- Scanning a friend's QR code now confirms right away.
- Live Activities show the right venue and who's there.
- Plus theming, layout and sign-in fixes across the app.
0.1.26 Sep 9
- Friend requests now show a preview of your mutual friends, and accepting one celebrates right in your feed
- The chat list got a refresh, and the last chat no longer hides behind the tab bar
- The map's focused view is now a sheet you can peek or expand over the full map
- See who's actually at the spots that are poppin
- Tap anyone on your manage friends screen to jump to their profile
- A spinner now shows while your profile photo uploads
- Lots of smaller fixes and polish... and something new is hiding in this build. Keep an eye out.
0.1.25 Sep 3
- Night recaps got some love: real mutual-friend counts, better pacing, and a hint so you know to swipe up
- Map fixes: the scoreboard no longer flashes empty while loading, plus polish to the snapped facepile, now-playing states, and the "Not here?" sheet
- Friend requests are smoother - tap anywhere on a request to see who it is, and your feed updates the moment a request comes in
- The app no longer stops your music when you open it
- Fixed the location arrow showing in the status bar when it shouldn't
0.1.24 Aug 28
- Canceled plans no longer clutter your chat list.
- Chat is more reliable: fixed a bug that could leave the chat list loading forever, and it now tells you when something went wrong instead of endlessly shimmering.
- A subtle typography refresh across the app.
- More bug fixes and improvements
0.1.23 Aug 26
- Plan recaps: relive a plan after it happens with a playable recap
- Live Activity glow-up: share your QR and add friends right from the chips, plus a single Friends column with your Amis' faces
- Find people faster with the new search bar on the manage friends screen
- Invite rows now show when your invite has been sent, so no more double-texting
- The map's city view now reflects how many people are actually there
- Simpler presence: one indicator for who's around, and "who's here" no longer double-counts friends
- Fixed a bug where a profile could open as a blank screen
- Fixed modals showing the wrong theme

0.1.21 Aug 22
Ami now flags it right on your YOU tab when notifications get turned off, so you stop missing people. Plus: DMs open reliably, the message composer stays put when the keyboard opens, light and dark mode switch instantly, and the map is smoother with lots of friends around.
0.1.20 Aug 16
- Message any ami straight from their profile. Write your first message in a quick compose sheet and it sends the moment you hit send, no empty threads.
- Add Friends is clearer: requests waiting on you sit up top, ones you've sent drop to the bottom, and search reaches into both.
- The Live Activity now shows Best Friends, Friends and Amis as three clean counts with a live presence dot.
- Map fixes: taps land on whatever is nearest your finger, the place you're at wins the spotlight, and the compass works again.
- Plus a smoother map, a warm glow on the selected tab, and a cooler dark mode.
0.1.19 Aug 15
- Tap someone who isn't sharing live location and the lens now shows just their photo, no map, no camera flight.
- Best-friend invites get their own copy.
- DM friends of friends at the same venue, straight from their profile.
0.1.18 Aug 14
Recaps for your nights out
When an occasion wraps, Ami now hands you a recap of it - who you spent time with, where the night went, and how it stacked up. Tap through it like a story, or read it as a list. The people you met are right there to add.
A map that feels alive
The map wears iOS 26's liquid glass - the nav bar, cards and buttons now float over it. Busy areas open as glowing glass lenses you can peer into, venues drift in one by one as the map loads, and a trail of light drifts between the places and people worth your attention.
See exactly who's at a place
Tap a venue you've been snapped to and you'll see who's actually there: your friends by name, plus people you haven't met yet with the friends you have in common. Every face opens their profile.
Light mode, dark mode, your call
Appearance is now a real setting. Auto still follows sunrise and sunset. Light and Dark stay put - including the next time you open the app.
Smoother start
- Arriving from a gathering invite? The app now knows why you're here, and opens on a screen that says so.
- Friend requests you make while setting up are sent once your profile is real, so nobody gets a buzz from a half-finished account - and nothing waits on the network mid-signup.
- Contacts already on Ami now show up whether or not they've added you back.
Fixes
- City markers no longer light up over cities with nothing happening in them.
0.1.17 Aug 13
A brand new look, and a whole new way to get started.
REDESIGNED FROM THE GROUND UP
Ami has a new visual language: cleaner type, a new tab bar, and a consistent look across every screen.
A NEW WELCOME
Onboarding is completely rebuilt. Claim your handle over a live map, pick your best friends, and invite the people you actually go out with, all in one flow with sound and motion.
YOUR PROFILE, REIMAGINED
A photo hero, your headline stats at a glance, and a live map showing where you are right now.
A BETTER MAP
A new header that shows what's happening around you, swipeable venue cards with a live feed of who's there, and tapping a friend now focuses them on the map you're already looking at. It's faster and easier on your battery too.
SEE WHERE YOUR FRIENDS HAVE BEEN
Your feed now shows events your friends went to, and calls out friends of friends worth knowing about.
SMARTER NOTIFICATIONS
Fewer, better nudges: know when a friend is nearby or when your crew is out without you, and tap straight through to the map.
INVITES THAT JUST WORK
Invite links now lead the message, invite codes scan more reliably, and best-friend invites carry through so you land on each other's map right away.
FIXES AND POLISH
Unread badges on the chat tab, a working chat filter bar, haptics throughout, a proper camera-permission screen for the scanner, and dozens of smaller fixes.
