This app needs A LOT of improvement. It won’t keep a connection when you move swap to another app and keep it open in the background. It also freezes up even when you keep the app active. The info on the app is good when it’s working, but I can’t depend on it to provide alerts when temps are reached if the app is freezing up all the time. Also, the WiFi connection does not allow you to view the grill status away from the house. I would think that a WiFi connection would allow a remote connection through the internet, but I’ve never been able to view a status remotely. Needs a lot of work.

I think the act works great. I’m not really sure why there are so many negative reviews. The only grapes I have are around the temperature control settings. A lot of times the PID overshoots the temperature by 20 to 30° and then has to work its way back down to get the temperature that you want. I think that could easily be fixed with some adjustments to the software. Only other thing I would request is a cook tracker. Give me a graph that tracks the temperature of my meat and the temperature of the smoker throughout the cook. I think that would be great! Other than that, I love this system. Have had it for a month now.

I’m not sure what all the negative buzz is about. It’s pretty simple. Turn on the grill click the pair button in the app. Add your WiFi network name and password in the app. Then connect your grill to the WiFi network from the grill itself. That’s it. Takes about 2 minutes and off you go. I’ve watched it for 30 minutes straight and the temp on the probes and the grill itself are reflected in the app instantly. The alarms I’ve set also work immediately. This app is perfect. It even has cheat sheets to remember your internal target temps and tons of recipes etc. I can’t say enough good things about the grill AND the app.

Overall now that I have it all connected, app works well with no issues. Fast response and really like it. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 because it would not connect at first no matter what I tried. Was only able to connect after using the non-2.0 version which connected right away. After that connected, I tried the 2.0 version and it connected immediately.
