Sandbox is for politically curious people who want to find out what they’re missing. It’s the place for productive, structured, one-on-one conversations between people who disagree on some things, and agree on others.
How it Works
Each Sunday, you'll take a short survey on a different political topic. Based on your responses, you'll be paired with someone who shares some of your views but challenges others. Together, you'll engage in structured exchanges throughout the week, explaining your thoughts and reacting to your partner's. This measured approach lets you build understanding without the chaos of social media.
Talk to people you disagree with (without pooping your pants)
Sandbox’s structured approach allows you to slow down and hear what the other person says before you formulate your response
One-On-One Conversations:
-Have private conversations with someone outside your bubble. No audience, no trolls.
-Emphasizing personal experience means your partner is more likely to hear where you’re coming from.
Curated Content:
-You’ll respond to assertions curated by our editorial team rather than diving head first into free-form discussion. This shifts criticism away from your partner, and toward a common punching bag, so it’s less personal off the bat.
-Give and Get Feedback:
-Hear from your partner on how tenable your explanation is, and do the same for them.
-Sharpen your own political arguments.
Why use Sandbox?
-Have productive dialogue to find out what you’re missing.
-See what’s possible when you take the time to talk to people you don’t see eye to eye with.
-See where your ideas stack up against your peers.
I’ve been delving deep into understanding more political perspectives because of how big of a spectrum there is right now. So when I stumbled on this one I decided to give it a shot. My first match didn’t respond at all and luckily it let me pair with a new person who ended up responding to everything, and I learned a lot about a starkly different political perspective which was a great experience. The app is clearly new and has some bugs but the core functionality worked fine for me, and I’ve been getting what I hoped out of the experience so I’ll definitely be participating as often as I can. This is a great concept for the current political climate.I’ve already been recommending it to people.
Love the app, will not stay logged in

I have used this since it was first started I think and I love the app, love the connections it gives me to others, but it will not stay logged i to my gmail account t. Every time it closes I have to go through the process of clicking the Google, going through the Google Add process, and finally I get in. I also get almost no push notifications because of this.I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no change. Been doing it for over a month and is about 4-5 times a day varying on how often I check the app. Very frustrated
Great alternative to social media apps

Looking for meaningful discussion on today’s issues? I love how this app connects people on short, thought provoking conversations that increase one’s awareness while enriching your point of view. I love asking questions that leave a pebble in their shoe to provoke deeper thought and clarity.
Great concept—not implemented well

I started doing the surveys at the start and it really didnt feel informative enough. It would talk about an issue i never heard about, tells me one paragraph that only represents one side. It asks me to ask if i agree with things when i dont know enough about it to for a real decision. Feels like it is just going to confirm biases and influence people more than create a safe place where both sides get to thoroughly explain themselves before making you pick a side.
This release includes an entirely new user experience. Everything looks a little different, but works pretty much the same as before — just a little simpler. Except for the Saturday chat. That’s about 10 times better than before.
We’ve eliminated the “This Week” tab and moved all conversation history to a dedicated Conversations tab. If you get behind, your catch-up tasks will now show up on the home screen.
You can now see star ratings and conversation-level feedback from your partner after a topic wraps. The Level-of-Reasonableness scale is cleaner and Quicksand's sharing controls are more intuitive. Plus a few bug fixes, including Saturday conversation history on Android and a less aggressive offline screen.
