Accessible Solitaire
Card
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
The Accessible Solitaire app has been designed to provide a fun experience for all players.
For players who are blind or partially sighted, the iOS VoiceOver screen reader announces details of the playing cards as you move through the game, and the app includes several in-app features to help make the contents of the cards easier to see.
Using speech at the game together with the iOS Voice Access feature, or using a switch device together with the iOS Switch Access feature, means can all playing cards can be moved around the game using either speech or a switch.
A short video showing the Accessible Solitaire games being played on an iPad mini with VoiceOver, Voice Control and Switch Control, is at: https://youtu.be/VKanx3K_4zA. First in the Klondike Solitaire game, a card is moved using the VoiceOver screen reader. After the move is complete, VoiceOver announces available moves in the game. Then VoiceOver is turned off, Voice Control is turned on, and a card is moved using voice input. Then Voice Control is turn off, Switch Control is turned on, and a card is moved using an Xbox Adaptive Controller. Then still using Switch Control, the app moves to a game of Pyramid Solitaire, and a card is discarded from the pyramid using the Xbox Adaptive Controller. Then Switch Control is turned off, Voice Control is turned on and cards are discarded from the pyramid using voice input. Then Voice Control is turned off, VoiceOver is turned on, and the game play continues using VoiceOver. After a move is completed, VoiceOver announces available moves in the game.
Feedback on how the game can be made more accessible is always welcome!
more I love how this game supports many accessibility features, like the ability to zoom in on a card, support a screen reader, or set custom colors for each suit. Highly recommended!

I've been playing Accessible Solitaire for quite some time. I LOVE this app! I love all three variants of the game, and I can't wait to see what the next variant will be! And all three variants are fully accessible with Voiceover! Great job!

Accessible Solitaire Version 4.6 includes a new game called Grandfather's Clock solitaire. For details on how to play Grandfather's Clock solitaire, please visit https://accessiblesolitaire.com/2026/03/25/accessible-grandfathers-clock-solitaire.
Also please note a change in the rules of the existing Baker's Dozen game. Previously in that game, dealt cards could not be moved from a dealt card pile to an empty dealt card pile. Player feedback suggested that the game was very rarely winnable with that rule, so this has been changed so that if a player wants to move a dealt card to an empty dealt card pile, they can do that. So the game is now more likely to be won, and more fun to play.

Version 4.5 updates the auto-complete feature for the Klondike game, where under certain circumstances the game will auto-complete and does not require you to move all the face-up dealt cards up to the target card piles.
The latest game to be added to app is the Royal Parade solitaire game. For details on this game, and the other five solitaire games included in the app, please visit https://accessiblesolitaire.com.

Version 4.4 extends support for the auto-complete feature in the Klondike game. Previously the game would only auto-complete if cards are being turned up one at a time. Now the game can also auto-complete when three cards are turned up at a time, so long as there are no more remaining cards to be dealt out to the dealt card piles. So in that case a game might auto-complete following a face-down dealt card being turned up, or all the dealt cards are already turned up and the last remaining card is moved from the upturned card pile to a dealt card pile.

Accessible Solitaire Version 4.1 adds support for the "Merge face-down cards" setting to the Spider Solitaire game. This features behaves the same in both the Spider Solitaire and Klondike Solitaire games, and when turned on, means that fewer swipes are required to navigate a screen reader through all the dealt card piles. For more information on the Spider Solitaire game, please visit: https://accessiblesolitaire.com/2026/02/16/accessible-spider-solitaire.
Please note that in Version 4.1, the feature to customise the colours of the four card suits has been removed from the app. That feature was proving unreliable on some devices, and its removal increases the app's stability. If you were using this feature and would like it reinstated, please contact me.

Accessible Solitaire Version 3.16 contains two updates based on player feedback. The first of those updates means that a click on the Help item in the app menu links to content specific to the solitaire game currently being played. For all posts relating to the app, please visit AccessibleSolitaire.com.
The second update is a new setting to optionally show a Restart Game button beneath the App Menu button near the top left corner of the app. Clicking this button has the same effect as clicking the Restart Game item in the App Menu, but requires fewer steps to access it.
Please note that recent versions of the Accessible Solitaire app have had changes made relating to loading up a previous game session when the app is started or when moving between games, and when the cards are dealt when a game is restarted. Currently the app does need some improvements in this area, so thanks for your patience while I continue to work on that. For example, the games can take a few seconds to start, and players should wait for the game to be ready. Also, in rare cases a dealt card pile might not appear at all or a card in the pile might visually appear empty. Restarting the app should fix those issues until I've had an opportunity to make the app more robust.

Accessible Solitaire Version 3.15 expands the behaviour of the screen reader button which announces open cards. Previously this button would announce open cards in the Tri Peaks, Pyramid, and Baker's Dozen games. Now, in addition to those, it announces the topmost cards in the dealt card piles in the Klondike game. Please note that in the Klondike game the topmost card in each dealt card pile is not the only card that can be selected, but based on player feedback, it would be helpful for a screen reader to announce all the topmost cards in the Klondike game. Also note that if a dealt card pile is not included in the announcement, then it is empty.
Version 3.5 also improves the visual layout of the cards in the games. There is now a slight gap between the dealt cards and the target card piles regardless of the game being played and the orientation of the device.

For more information about the new Tri Peaks solitaire game, please visit https://accessiblesolitaire.com/2026/01/21/accessible-tri-peaks-solitaire.

Accessible Solitaire Version 3.10 includes a new feature requested by players, to optionally auto-complete the Klondike Solitaire game. This option is turned off by default, and can be turned on at the app's Setting page. The option only has an effect when the setting for how many cards should be turned up when the Next Card button is clicked, is set to turn up one card at a time.
When the auto-complete setting is on, once the last face-down card in the dealt card piles is turned up, the game is considered complete, regardless of how many cards are left in the remaining cards pile or the upturned cards pile. So once the last face-down card is turned up, all cards instantly move to the four target cards piles, and the "Congratulations" message appears saying that the game was auto-completed, and the time it took to win the game.
If you have any more suggestions on how the game can be made more accessible and enjoyable, please do let me know.

The announcement begins by announcing the open cards starting with Row 7, and moving up the pyramid through the other rows. Please note that the set of Screen Reader Buttons has been moved to the right of the Menu button near the top left of the app, rather than beneath the Menu button.

Accessible Solitaire V3 includes a Pyramid version of the solitaire game, in addition to the Klondike version of solitaire. Please note that the Pyramid version of the game is a work in progress. Current constraints in the app are listed at the game's help content up at https://accessiblesolitaire.com/2025/11/26/coming-soon-accessible-pyramid-solitaire. Accessible Solitaire Version 3.0 includes a Pyramid version of the solitaire game, in addition to the Klondike version of solitaire that's always been available in the app. The Pyramid version of the game has been added following requests from people interested in playing the game using the iOS VoiceOver screen reader and the iOS Voice Control feature.
Please note that the Pyramid version of the game is a work in progress, and while it is playable today, there are a number of improvements that need to be made to the app. Some of the current constraints in the app are listed at the game's help content up at https://accessiblesolitaire.com/2025/11/26/coming-soon-accessible-pyramid-solitaire.
Your feedback will help me prioritise the work ahead, so please to let me know where the game is working satisfactorily, and where it needs improving. Thanks!
3.0 12/02/2025
Accessible Solitaire Version 2.30 includes a change to how cards are shown visually when they are selected. Previously, when a card was selected, a colour border appears at the edges of the card. Players of the game requested that the background colour of the card also change when the card is selected. So in Version 2.30, the background card colour also changes, to be the same as the colour shown by dealt cards when they're in a set of selected cards. While this decreases the colour contrast between the selected card background and the suit and rank symbols shown on the selected card, the contrast still meets accessibility guidelines, and so it is hoped that overall this change makes the app more usable. If you have your own feedback on this change, please do let me know.
2.30 09/30/2025
Accessible Solitaire Version 2.29 improves the game-playing experience for players using both Voice Control and VoiceOver at the same time. As part of this, the names of the optional screen reader-related buttons shown in the app are now: "Game state", and "Available moves". Also, the setting to have the target card piles in the app be headings, is now off by default. If you would like to have these the target card piles headings, please visit the app Settings page and turn the related setting on.
A video showing Accessible Solitaire being playing with Voice Control and VoiceOver at the same time, is at https://youtu.be/Tl3ryTP7xtA.
