If you own a Motorola home networking product DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DOWNLOAD THIS APP! IT WILL EFFECTIVELY LOBOTOMIZE YOUR MODEM AFTER THE SETUP PROCESS! I own a Motorola MG8702 modem/router combo. Since I purchased it I’ve always accessed the device’s configuration manager through a web browser from my laptop and it worked great. I downloaded this app bc Motorola kept sending me promo email after promo email touting how great this new app was so I downloaded it and went through the whole setup. The app is garbage. It allows you to do very minimal and a majority of the app is an ad trying to get you to sign up and pay for a premium monthly subscription. No big deal I’ll just delete the app and access the config. manager through a web browser like I’ve always had in the past. Nope! As soon as the setup was completed it took away my ability to access the manager through a local network connection and my device can only be managed through a cloud network through the app now. Plan B, reinstall the app bc somethings better than nothing right? Nope! After I reinstalled it the app tries to go through the whole setup process again just to tell you that your network cannot be found. I’ve contacted tech support 3 times, through 3 different avenues email, live chat and phone. Live chat and email you just get automated responses and they then they ghost you. Every time I’ve tried to call their phone line you get their voicemail saying no one’s in the office at the moment no matter what time of the day it is…shocker. So my $400 piece of hardware is basically in a state of limbo now and all I can do wait til Motorola hopefully gets hit with a class action lawsuit so I can be one the first signatures on that lawsuit.
Worst app to ever exist

I was decently happy with the original app yeah it had flaws also but nothing compared to this “uPgrAdED” version. Not only was I forced to get this horrible excuse of an upgrade but I have to pay a subscription fee too then when changing passwords you have to redo it like 50 million times because it doesn’t go the first time then after it does it doesn’t even show you what the actual password is so I have to screenshot it aaannddd on top of that unlike the first app you don’t really see what the decide is that’s connected unless you know it’s up address or whatever it is but nooowwwww the fancy “uPgRAdeD” app doesn’t even load. I honestly don’t see how it’s got such a “high” rating when it should be half star with how trash it is. To be honest I wish I never upgraded the app at this point I’d be better off without it. As of now I have deleted the app reinstalled and still have no access to it all it does is spin yet I get notifications of things I can’t even see.
Switching Routers Purely B/C of this App
Chewb3cca
The previous MotoSync app worked wonderfully with my MG8702 router, but ever since I was forced to switch to the MotoSync+ app, it’s been a pain. I frequently have to uninstall and reinstall the app to get it to work, which hampers my ability to work remotely. Today was the last straw. Opened the app only to have it sit there with a refresh icon, couldn’t tap anything. The app is up to date. Tried a force quit, toggled off wifi, airplane mode toggle, restarting my phone, and uninstall/reinstall three times and it still is at the refresh icon. I’m not battling an AI support chat to fix this again or waiting days for an email response. Just another corporate entity cutting support to the bone, pushing a paid subscription for an item you already own and reaping the profits. Getting my router needs elsewhere.
Can’t even start the app
jmcdj718
I’ve tried reinstalling and clearing cache a dozen times but this stupid app won’t actually start up after I open it. It’s just stuck on the loading screen to start the sign-in process the moment I open it. I hadn’t opened the old motosync app in ages and found out that it was no longer supported while I was needing to make some changes to the settings, and then I get directed to download this nothing burger of an app? What a joke! And there doesn’t seem to be any plans to fix it according to their support! This is garbage!!! Now my MG8702 is practically e-waste… how is this not a class action against Motorola?
