I’m pretty tech savvy but this is such a confusing interface. Not just in comparison to the old cap metro app. It’s very showy and I really wish I could just simply see bus times in real time like before
Developer Response
Really sorry to hear that you're finding the app confusing. The good news is that yes you can see real-time bus times as soon as you open the app - if you reach out to us we'll be more than happy to show you how.
Total garbage, but there’s no other choice
Texquatch
This is the 3rd or 4th Austin metro app I’ve used, I’m guessing it’s a contract and this is the new lowest bidder. There is nothing intuitive about this app, when you’re looking for a bus it’ll tell you to walk 3/4 of a mile one direction when there’s a stop for the same bus half that distance just walking the other direction. Even more frustrating than that it seems to only give you routes in hour intervals or longer when most of the stops have pickups every 15 minutes. And to top it all off they’re trying to make it a paid app. Opening it for the first time it offers you a “free week,” that I struggle to find a way to cancel, and if you press to skip the trial offer, it signs you up anyway. If the point of the app is to make you more resourceful on your own without the app, then they’re doing great; if it’s to be actually helpful than they’re failing miserably and trying to screw you over. Again, we have no other choice because the old, good app isn’t online anymore. It took a lot of patience to not swear writing this review but I’m sure it wouldn’t go up if I did, but users should be warned what they’re going to have to deal with.
Could not be worse

Unbelievable that the first thing a public transit app does is hit you up for a paid (“FREE TRIAL”) offer. And what do you get for your monthly credit card ding? Well, after saving (starring) a SINGLE STOP in the app, you’ll hit “Limit reached: You need Premium to manage more than one saved stop”! (Which may work great for you if you tend to get on the bus at a regular stop but never get off it?)Where do you buy fares? Where’s a system map? CapMetro: not sure how you let this developer talk you into this garbage. Your previous app wasn’t perfect but LORD was it better than this. And monetizing a public transit app in this way is just awful. These are BUS RIDERS, for god’s sake. You know better.

Sorry to hear you've not had a great experience. We're independent app developers and don't have any relationship with CapMetro. The good news is that you don't need to pay for PRO features if you don't want to - live arrival times and routes are available for all, for free, forever.
Disgusting, worthless

There used to be a free, working CapMetro app. It became unavailable a few months ago and was replaced with this unusable new app. It never shows the nearest route to your destination. Instead it recommends routes which take you miles out of your way, add unnecessary bus switchovers, and/or depart/arrive hours later than necessary. Sometimes when you close and immediately reopen the app these routes will be replaced seemingly at random with equally useless ones. Whoever decided to remove free access to an essential public service and instead charge users for bad information is completely vile.
To celebrate World Awareness Day this month, we've added an extra accessibility feature - custom fonts. From the Settings screen, you can now choose from several easy-to-read fonts that will be used throughout the app, including dyslexic-friendly typefaces.
New: Destination Filters
Just open up a station board, tap on Destination and choose the station you want to get to. You'll only see the services that stop there. Great for busy stations where you want to cut out the noise and focus on the lines that you care about.
Best of all, it works for bus stops as well: tap on Destination and choose the place you're going to, and we'll work out which bus lines from that stop go there.

Saved Stops by Distance
Now just tap the toggle on the Saved tab to re-order your saved stops and stations by how close they are to you.
Service Alert Summaries
No more scrolling through long lists of alerts. The app now creates a short summary highlighting the most recent and important disruptions affecting your journey.
Better for your battery
We’ve made major optimisations to how the app uses location and background activity while you’re travelling. You can now tap GO with confidence that it won’t drain your battery.
Smarter Live Activities
Live Activities now end cleanly when you reach your destination. You’ll also see a quick summary of your trip when a Live Activity begins.
Home & Work improvements
You can now edit or remove your Home and Work locations again. Saved places and stations also sync automatically through iCloud, keeping all your devices up to date.
Powerful new Shortcuts support
You can now start live directions directly from Shortcuts or Siri. Instead of opening the app, directions begin instantly as a Live Activity - perfect for routines like starting your commute each morning.
The app also remembers your preferred routes. If a familiar journey is available, it will be selected automatically. Otherwise, just choose a route once and we’ll remember it for next time.
Clearer train departure boards
Train times are now easier to read in both the app and widgets, so you can find what you need at a glance.
If you’re enjoying the app, a quick rating or review really helps.
