This app helps you explore the war landscape around Ypres. It will immerse you into the First World War and help you unveil the vestiges of battle and the historic sites. More exciting still, the app allows you to virtually walk on top of the front line trenches. So that you experience how incredibly close the front lines were to one other and how dense the trench network was.
The landscape still bears many traces of the war, yet often these are only visible to trained eyes. Now that the last personal witnesses of the Great War have passed away, the landscape is the very last witness to this tragic period in the Westhoek.
The photos that pilots took from their airplanes, during the war, are a great source to bring the now vanished landscape back to life.
