Tin Can: The Kid Phone That’s All Talk. Remember when phones just made calls? When your best friend’s number lived in your head and your social network was whoever answered the landline? Tin Can brings that freedom back — but for your kid. It’s a screen-free phone that runs on Wi-Fi and only calls approved contacts. No apps. No strangers. No doom scrolling. Just grandparent chats, playdate plans, and “Can I stay five more minutes?” calls. The Tin Can companion app gives parents (and only parents) the behind-the-scenes magic that controls their Tin Can phone: • Approve who they can call (and who can call them) • Set call hours (like bedtime is not party line time) • See call history • Share your Tin Can with friends to grow the crew • Control multiple cans from one place (power move) Tin Can: Built for kids. Approved by the same generation that made prank calls on rotary phones.

Great 1st Phone Alternative!

We are so very happy with our TinCan! We got it for our 10-year-old as her first phone—a way to take that first step toward coordinating playdates and communicating with friends without immediately introducing apps, social media, and screens. What I love most is that it brings back something we didn’t realize kids were missing: the actual skill of talking on the phone. Things like answering, introducing yourself, having a conversation, knowing when to speak, and figuring out how to communicate without relying on texting or apps are skills we might assume kids naturally learn, but they really don’t have much opportunity to practice anymore. TinCan gives them that experience in such a simple, age-appropriate way.I also want to give a shoutout to the TinCan team. I know they experienced a huge surge in demand around Christmas, and that came with some setup glitches and understandably frustrated customers. From what I’ve seen, though, those growing pains were a reflection of how quickly the company grew—not a lack of care or commitment to their customers. They’ve been wonderful to work with, and I genuinely appreciate what they’re creating. We wholeheartedly recommend TinCan for parents who want to give their kids a little more independence and communication skills while delaying the jump into the smartphone world. We couldn’t be happier with ours, and I’m really excited to see where this company goes!

We could not love a product more. I originally purchased one for my kids and one for the out of town grandparents as a way of keeping in touch more often without using my phone. The kids (7, 5, and 3) took to it immediately and call almost daily. So I was already a big fan. Then this summer several friends also purchased and they began to call and get calls from peers. Some of the cutest/funniest conversations I have witnessed. I especially love the connection with our out of town friends. I have since purchased two more as gifts and plan to get more in the future for other families. I know the landline is not a new invention, but this new take is amazing. Perfect that it just uses the WiFi. For now we just have can to can but as our kids get older we will definitely add on the party plan.

My kids (8 and 6) love having the ability to call whenever they want. I created a special print-out with all of our family members’ pictures and phone numbers. Sometimes they just call someone when they’re bored. Sometimes I tell them to call someone when they’re bugging me and I just need a little break. Sometimes they call to ask a silly question or tell a joke. And sometimes I call from downstairs when I hear them fighting upstairs and need to tell them to knock it off without yelling. 😂 I have peace of mind knowing that when they eventually get old enough to stay home alone, I can call and check in, and they can call 911 if they need to. Thanks for creating this great device with easy controls in the app!

The Tin Can is nostalgia to the max… Remember how novel it was to hear a phone ring in the middle of the house and not know who was calling? My kids LOVE staying more connected to friends and family, and my wife and I love that it’s screen-free. It’s amazing how much more engaging conversations are with my kids when they’re not staring at a screen – total fame-changer. This has been one of the single best purchases we’ve made for our family in recent years. The phone, service, and app are all top-notch and the TC team has done a wonderful job pushing updates to continually improve the experience. I recommend the Tin Can to everyone and am grateful for this incredible and fun way to stay more connected relationally!

A fresh look. Tin Can has a new app icon, plus some small visual polish throughout the app.
