Locating fixes itself. Open a place with more than one memory and every name but the last used to stick on "Locating..." forever. Now each one finds its name.

On this day, on the map. A memory you made on this date in an earlier year now wears a light around it where it happened, not only a heading in the list. The map remembers the date the way the day does. Save a memory and it now opens itself, so you can see what you just kept.

A memory with a photo now gets a quiet tag or two, guessed on the phone from the picture itself. Nothing leaves the device to make the guess. A memory can also be shared straight from its own screen: the photo, a plain caption, and one link back to the app, handed to whatever you already use to send it. Peer to peer, nothing of ours in between.

Write to the makers. A new line in the "..." menu, Write to the makers, opens the system mail sheet addressed to us. Nothing is sent until you send it, and the app still runs no servers of its own.

The ink. Randhawa now draws the map of your life by default. Carry your phone and each time it notices you have gone somewhere, a dot lands and a line joins it to the last one. Home darkens into a blot. The road you take every morning darkens too. Today is drawn on top in orange, the live line over everything before it. It asks first. The intro says what the map will do, iOS asks in its own words, and iOS asks again before background access becomes permanent. It listens only for the low-power signals a sleeping app is allowed, never runs continuously, and never keeps your phone awake. Answer While Using only and Randhawa marks a dot each time you open it, as it always has. One screen turns it off, one tap forgets everything it gathered. Tap a blot to open the place: what it is called, how often you were there, what you kept there, and a way to keep something more. Tap a gold dot to open that memory. The camera is in the composer now, next to the library. The sparkles button still flips between the map and the constellation. Press and slide it, and the map fades under the ink to anywhere in between. "Export your map" in the menu writes everything to one file you can keep. It is yours. Where your places live has not changed at all. The same file on your phone, the same optional private iCloud that we cannot read, the same absence of servers of ours.

The trail. Randhawa has always waited for you to open it. Now, if you want it to, it can keep drawing while you get on with your day. Turn the trail on from the menu and pick a pace: whenever you move, at most every fifteen minutes, hourly, every four hours, or only when you arrive somewhere and stay a while. Your map fills in the hours you were too busy to reach for your phone. It is off until you turn it on, and off again the moment you change your mind. A pace is a ceiling, not a schedule: iOS wakes the app when you move, never on a timer, so standing still adds nothing and your battery barely notices. And "Forget the trail" deletes every dot the trail placed while keeping every dot you placed yourself. Where your places live has not changed at all. The same file on your phone, the same optional private iCloud that we cannot read, the same absence of servers of ours. If you also use Bhullar, this is the half that makes its new feature work. Tap any dot in its grid and you will see where you were.

Randhawa 3.0 is about keeping what you make. • Memories: tap the plus button to pin a thought, or a photo, to where you are. Memories live on your map in gold. If you also use Bhullar, our time app, memories flow between the two: made in either, shown in both. Randhawa gives them a place; Bhullar gives them a time. • iCloud sync, off until you turn it on: your moments and memories are kept in your private iCloud, which we cannot read. Get a new phone, sign in, and your map comes back. No account to create; your Apple Account is the account. • The Map widget now shows memories too. • The Constellation widget has been retired. The constellation itself lives on inside the app, one tap from the map. As always: location is read only while the app is open, and nothing about you ever reaches us.

New in 2.1: the Map widget. Your moments, as orange dots on a real map, right on your Home Screen — denser where you return, your latest moment ringed in white. The original Constellation widget is still here; now you can have both. As always: your location is read only while the app is open, stays on this device, and is never sent anywhere. The widget only draws moments you've already made — it never reads your location.

Randhawa 2.0 is a new beginning. The app is now a map of your places: each time you open it, a dot marks where you are — on a real map, or as a constellation only you can read. Everything stays on your device: no accounts, no tracking, nothing leaves your phone. (The year-of-dots grid from 1.0 will return soon as its own app.)
