Mile Hoarders, rejoice
We're trying to earn enough miles for a bucket list trip and using the e-gift cards is earning us exponentially more than we are in day-to-day purchases. The learning curve can be tricky, but once you understand how it works, you'll find yourself using it for everything. Dog food and pet supplies alone will get us to our goal in no time.
Repeatedly charged me but didn’t pay retailer
Used to be a big fan of this app though I seldom remembered to use it. I did try to use it recently and my credit card was charged twice but the transaction failed both times so the retailer didn’t get paid and I had to use a different form of payment. I expected the pending charges ($220 twice) would vanish from my Amex but, no, they became regular charges to my account. I then received emails from United promising refunds in about five business days, no idea why it takes that long, maybe they need the cash. That was twelve days ago and no refunds as yet.
Makes no sense. Why charge me if you know the transaction has failed? Why take so long to process a refund that should be automatic? Have no confidence in this app going forward. Be warned!!
I liked the app for earning miles, but be extremely careful when selecting payment method. I wanted to pay for a $29 restaurant bill using my United credit card. Didn’t have my reading glasses and accidentally clicked on the option to pay with United miles. 4,675 miles. When I realized my mistake I paid the bill with a different credit card assuming it would be simple to get a refund. No sympathy from United. NO REFUNDS. They are likely happy to see a customer burn their points at a such a low value. I am out significantly more points than I ever earned with the app and I have a non-refundable gift card that I am unlikely to use. Not sure if I will ever use the app again.
