In the past, I’ve used this app extensively to earn miles. For the past few weeks, I’ve been unable to purchase any gift cards. First, it kept making me validate the purchase endlessly. Then I reinstalled the app twice and now the purchases just decline for no reason. Support is not easy to come by and after I finally did reach them, they told me that it wouldn’t work if I’m out of the country. I haven’t left the country. After that bang up job of troubleshooting, I haven’t heard back from them for several days now. I also noticed another reviewer having the same issue, so I thought I’d voice my frustration.
Can’t purchase cards told it was denied
Today I tried to purchase a gift card and kept being told that it was denied, the credit card company told me that they denied nothing and that that no charges were made today. It also tells me to revalidate my mileage plus account. Customer service told me that they will have to turn it over to the development team and I will have to wait 7-10 business days. That’s one way to slow down my ability to earn more miles.
Charged twice, but no gift card.
I tried to purchase a $25 gift card to Starbucks. I received an email saying there was an error and I would be refunded within 5 days. I’ve purchased many cards and had never seen that email. So I tried again with the same result. I had 2 x $25 charges pending. 3 days later I see the first charge post. So I call United mileage plus program and and am given a different number. So I call that number and they are closed on the weekend. I understand things happen but there doesn’t seem to be any recourse. So now I will have to spend more time try to fix their error with them or with my bank reversing the charges. It’s frustrating because everything is through the app and immediate except when they screw up, then I have to call someone during business hours. I will try to call them on Monday.
