Stop guessing. Start hearing music.
Train your ear daily to recognize chords, intervals, and notes — and play by ear with confidence.
Learn to hear music. Not guess it.
Have you ever wanted to play music by ear, recognize chords instantly, or identify the key of a melody?
A trained musical ear changes everything. It helps you improvise, compose, transcribe melodies, sing in tune, and play with others confidently.
Your musical ear is like a muscle.
If you don’t train it, it stays weak.
If you train it a little every day, it becomes instinct.
Just 10 minutes of daily ear training is enough to build powerful musical hearing over time. Short, focused sessions train your brain to recognize tones, chords, and keys naturally — the same way athletes build strength with consistent workouts.
And if you struggle with consistency, Trill makes you serious about it.
With Focus Lock enabled, distracting apps are blocked until you complete your daily ear training. No scrolling first. No excuses. You train your ear — then you unlock your screen time.
Train first. Scroll later.
Funny part is, that Trill turns ear training into a game you actually want to come back to.
Daily challenges, streaks, levels, and collectible badges transform serious ear training into a motivating system. Many users describe Trill as “Duolingo for ear training” — short sessions, clear progress, and constant small wins that keep you practicing.
I originally built Trill for myself.
I wanted to improvise more freely, hear the key of a song instantly, and recognize chords during jam sessions without guessing. What started as a personal tool became a complete daily training system for everyone who want real musical hearing.

Nice UI. The chord spellings and scales get a little funky sometimes but it’s alright, it’s kind of charming/engaging. Plus a lot of real world enharmonics pull the funny spellings anyways. Coming back to ear training after undergrad and graduate music degrees. This app is working out great for me. The audio gets weird when I have my AirPods in or if I swipe out to a different app during a lesson (my RoK gathering must continue ungapped) Will update my review when I hit that top rank. I’m a silver 💀Edit: I’ve reached expert! Cool app. Works better with AirPods now than when I first got it (hardly worked with AirPods at all). My ears have improved quite a bit, and my instrument practice is more enriching/fun/easier as a result. I’ve got my hopes in this dev. Ear training isn’t life or death to me, so why not support an underdog? The gamification is fun, I like working through the four stages each day. Please keep up the good work! I recommend this app a lot.

Thanks so much for the detailed review — and congrats on reaching Expert! 💪Really glad to hear the app is helping and that your practice feels more fun and effective. Also appreciate the note on enharmonics and audio — we’re continuously improving both. We’re currently working on adding chord progression recognition 🎧I actually built this app because it’s something I personally needed as a musician, so it means a lot to hear it’s useful for you too.If you have any suggestions or ideas for improvement, feel free to reach out via support/feedback in the app. Thanks again for the support and for recommending the app — it means a lot! 🚀
Think of the drummers

The recent UI update and improvement with the app block really makes me want to use it more. Before the apps wouldn’t lock all the way and there would always be some work around. I have a suggestion, a rhythm practice. One thing many aspiring musicians struggle with is understanding and attempting to write out rhythms. I love this app and have suggested it to several friends. I know they’d be more inclined to use it with a feature like that. I know the app was originally intended for ear training with tone and pitch. I feel to practice rhythm is also a form of ear training. Just a suggestion.Love the app

Thank you so much for the kind words — really glad to hear the latest UI and app blocking improvements are making a difference for you! That was a big focus for us 🙌Also, that’s a fantastic suggestion about rhythm training — you’re absolutely right, rhythm is a huge part of musical understanding and definitely tied to ear training. It’s something we’ve been thinking about, and feedback like yours helps us prioritize what to build next.Right now, we’re working on adding chord progression recognition 💪 and rhythm training is definitely on our radar after that.Really appreciate you sharing the app with your friends as well — that means a lot ❤️If you have any other ideas or feedback, feel free to reach out anytime!
Wrong theory + Greedy 😂 stay away

Took the entry test. Ngl was pretty comprehensive, but some chords were just wrong. Two options for one were Aug 7 and dom 7 #5 but they are the same thing 😹. There was an option dominant 7 b11 but the b11 is the third so you can’t tell between that and regular dom 7 😂. I got those two wrong and it put me in the “medium” level and you need to do a million tasks to level up and every time it asks you to pay for full access. If you close it, you “spin” to unlock a discount. So greedy. You won’t learn theory you’ll just get more confused. Saw an ad on ig so I decided to try it out and I had a feeling this would happen. Stay away!!!
Idk man…

The free trial is enticing, but I’ll prolly forget to cancel if I don’t like it. $10 is understandable since they’re supposedly an indie dev, but tbh I prolly would be more likely to try it for a month if it were $5 monthly. Maybe try finding a way to let people try for a week without having to enter payment information, so forgetful people like me would be more likely to actually try.Sometimes something small like $3/month will generate more consistent and new users, leading to more revenue over time, but idk I’m not an expert at this.

The free trial includes a reminder notification 2 days before it ends, so there’s time to cancel if it’s not a good fit. It can also be canceled anytime. This trial model is a very common approach used across many apps, as it allows users to access the full experience from the start rather than a limited version. We’re currently focusing our time on improving the app itself — for example, recently adding features like chord progression training — rather than building a custom trial system, and using a proven setup that works well for most users.Appreciate the feedback!
