Do you love cookbooks? Us, too. That's why we created CookShelf, the app that helps you make the most of your cookbook collection, and cook from the books you already own.
Got too much zucchini in the summer, and an excess of cabbage in winter? Or are you just trying to find that one Bolognese recipe you love and make every year, but can *never* remember which book it’s in? Quickly find recipes across your cookbooks that use what you already have – no more forgotten vegetables wilting in your crisper drawer. Simply search by ingredient, dish type, or whatever you're craving, and CookShelf shows exactly which cookbook has what you need and what page it's on.
CookShelf is built for home cooks who love real cookbooks and real creators. Set a goal for how many cookbook recipes you'll cook this year, track your progress, and look back at everything you've made. We bridge the gap between physical cookbooks and digital convenience – because the best recipes are already on your shelf.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
CookShelf includes both a free version and a Premium subscription.
The free version lets you add up to 5 cookbooks and use all of CookShelf's features for those books – search, bookmarking, cooking goals, and tracking.
Premium unlocks your full collection:
◆ Add unlimited cookbooks
◆ Search across your entire library and over 15,000 indexed titles
You can start a free trial to access Premium. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, you'll be automatically charged the price shown on the payment screen for your chosen plan. Your CookShelf Premium subscription renews automatically each month or year until you cancel. Canceling disables the automatic renewal, but you'll keep full access through the end of your current period. Note that deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

I have the free version with my top 5 cookbooks loaded. I love being able to quickly find recipes, but even better is quickly searching by ingredient. For example, right now I have an open jar of chilies in adobo sauce to use up. I was able to instantly find quite a few recipes from my collection that use that ingredient. Perfect if you’re at home and trying to plan meals. This isn’t 5 stars for me yet because it doesn’t list quantities. So if I’m looking up a recipe while at the store or away from my cookbooks, I had to guess how much to buy. I’m sure there is licensing reasons for this, but it’s still something to be aware of. Also, I’ll add more cookbooks if the Pro version pricing comes down. Right now it’s too expensive to justify.
Worth the wait!

Since I started collecting cookbooks I have loved the idea of EYB & maintained a free membership. I knew I wouldn’t use a website enough to justify a payed membership. Apps are just my go to way of doing things now. I was anxiously awaiting this app that I heard they were working on. I am happy to say that after just a few days of using the free trial I know that I will be happy to pay for a membership. I know with this app I will be able to utilize my cookbook collection so much better. My only criticism of the system in general is I wish there was a way to eliminate multiple entries of the same book existing in the database. That way all comments & reviews on that particular book could be under one book & not spread across multiple entries.
This price is hard to swallow…

It’s obvious from even a small amount of use that this is an amazing resource, but OMG I’m struggling to accept the cost. I’m excited to use it with a first month free deal I got, but imagining keeping it long term makes me grit my teeth because of the cost. Hope they change the way they do things. It’s a wonderful resource, but many home cooks (who often cook partly to save money) will never find out because of the ongoing $$$ drain. Say I love it and want to use it as my personal cooking library index —- in 10 years I’ll have spent $400… and that’s if the price stays the same…
Great concept, but not there yet

This is a great concept for an app and I want to love it - BUT, I’m guessing because the app is relatively new, only one of my cookbooks is actually indexed (out of the 10 I’ve added to my shelf thus far). I’ve requested indexing for each one, and will update my review with how long it takes for them to be added to the database. I’m not super inclined to pay so much for an app that is clearly still so underdeveloped and doesn’t have the capacity to actually do what it says it will do without waiting for them to do updates - so, unless they’re crazy responsive with the indexing, I will probably cancel my trial - though, I may check back at a later date.
• Coming soon- Grocery lists and meal planning. Plan your week of meals and set up your shopping list right in the app.
• Bug fixes and performance improvements
