I’ve been using this app for a bit to try to get a gauge for what my general diet looks like. It is very easy to use and the addition of barcode scanning has been really nice!! A few things I would like to see in the future: when adding a photo from the camera role, if you add a photo of a nutrition label, the app has a hard time reading it correctly. Even though the breakdown is listed out, it is often wrong in what it records, and I have to manually go back and fix it. Other times, if I snap a photo of what I am eating and AI does not detect every ingredient, when I go to adjust, it drastically changes the calorie count/balance of fat/protein/carbs to an extreme amount that is sometimes not correct. For example, logging a breakfast sandwich, AI did not detect the slice of cheese on it, and when I added it to the ingredient list, the calorie count jumped around 500 calories, which is just not right. I also would like to see an addition of fiber count, maybe as an optional setting you can turn on in settings to help me determine if I am getting enough fiber. Overall this is still a great app regardless of a couple of tweaks that would make it even better.
Awesome app!

I really love this helpful food tracking app! It is easy to use an overall fairly accurate, not to mention the llama is super cute. The thing I’ve noticed that could use some work as the macros. I try to focus on high-protein meals, for example the no fat Greek yogurt trick to replace dessert, sauces, etc.; nine times out of 10 the app just won’t capture that the Greek yogurt I’m using has 18 g of protein but only 100 cal. It’s a little bit frustrating because I find myself having to sacrifice accuracy of either calories or protein. I’m pretty sure this app is newer than their water llama app that I also use and love. I have a feeling as they continue to do updates the little quirks that bug me about Foodllama Wil be resolved. i’m looking forward to seeing how the app continues to evolve🙌🎉

Thank you so much for this review!! First of all, thanks for being part of the llama family and using Waterllama too, that really means a lot to us 🦙You're absolutely right, Foodllama is newer and we're committed to improving it based on feedback just like we did with Waterllama. Reviews like yours help us understand exactly what needs work. The Greek yogurt macro issue is a great example and your suggestion is definitely noted. In the meantime, please write to us at hello@foodllama.app - our support team might be able to suggest a workaround for that high-protein Greek yogurt trick so you don't have to sacrifice accuracy on either end. Thanks for believing in us and for sticking around as we continue to evolve. We won't let you down 💛🦙
Really disappointed

I’m a huge fan and daily user of waterllama and i’ve been using yazio for tracking calories and food so when i heard about food llama, i instantly downloaded and was already thinking id be replacing yazio. Absolutely not. Why are you doubling down on AI? I hate that i can’t simply type in a meal and have the app find it based on internet menu databases, instead it insists on making stuff up (as AI does). The fact that it can’t draw nutritional information about a “Mcdonald’s Snack Wrap” and instead creates its own completely inaccurate dish is so frustrating when almost every other app just finds the publicly available info about that very specific item. That and the lack of a one time purchase just completely turned me off. I rarely write reviews but this one really really irked me, especially since waterllama is one of the best and most consumer friendly app i’ve ever used and love to recommend but foodllama is an ai slop shameless cashin. Very sad.UPDATE: Still requires you to subscribe with no option to opt out of AI features, i JUST want a calorie tracking app that matches up with the quality of waterllama. I don’t want AI, i’d happily pay a one time cost for the app but I can’t even check out how it’s improved without being forced to pay. Makes me want to not use waterllama either and switch entirely to yazio.

I love this, one of the more interesting and practical uses of AI/ML I have seen so far. I struggle to record diet and health stuff if it takes too long to do and especially if I have to create a custom item from scratch, so this is amazing for getting "close enough" in no time at all. I'm actually recording everything and even if it's not perfect it largely good enough. Very impressed and happy with it. I think it has some room for improvements and I'll send an email later with more detailed feedback, but I think right now its biggest weaknesses are: *no integration with waterllama when adding drinks to foodllama or vice versa. This would be fantastic and is my #1 request*doesn't recognize specific items from major brands or restaurant chains which definitely publish nutrition information online and do show up in other food tracking app databases*adding a new entry for a past food item is a little difficult, with the bookmark workflow hidden inside a single-item menu inside the food item. Feels like there should be a one-tap solution for "I just ate this again"Final note, it says "X% from goal". That really should say "X% of goal" instead. The current wording doesn't make sense with the number being displayed. This is probably just a translation artifact and easy to fix :)
• NEW: In addition to the Describe food feature you can now Search food in a food database
Previous release: Log Weight +Charts +Reminders. Calories from Waterllama beverages sync via Apple Health.
Keep going — you’re doing fantastic! ^_^
